@@echofloripa It’s a matter of strengths and what the go-to dynamic manoeuvres are for each surfer I reckon. EE still has an okay air game and has a pretty wide variety of face manoeuvres he can go to beyond carves. If what you’re saying is true, then you could say Italo - who’s looking like the one to beat - is only doing reos and full rotes.

Brazil is one of my favorite travel experiences. People took me in and helped me out along the way to get waves and have a good time. For all the gnarly crime you hear about, there's genuinely good people helping others. Like anywhere I guess. I didn't find the water polluted at all. I surfed in Ubatuba and it was like paradise. Got waves in Mareseis as well (where Medina is from). Both were clean and water seemed good, but heavy rains will often bring mud from the jungle and make the water brown which is better than the runoff we get in Southern California! ha

Yeh, can you imagine Italo just won in Tahiti and is not going to the Olympics? That just doesn't feel right. Filipe would have been a factor in most of the waves on tour this year - just not Tahiti.

95% is a large number! But, yeh, parts of this video are out of focus. I have a shit lens and when you shoot in the early morning in overcast conditions, focus can be an issue. I suggest watching Scotty Hammonds (@hampositive on instagram). His footage is crisp and clean although you won't see long form raw clips. Cheers

It's the classic argument of a surf spots progress. It brings tourist dollars and tourist problems. I've watched it my whole life - Bali and Costa Rica standout. Do you know what those places looked like in the 80s? I can't be grumpy about it. Living in the present means accepting what life is now. Progress isn't stopping. As I write this Surf City is building a double lane highway along the coast. What was a dirt road with little coconut stands is going to turn into resorts and airbnbs limiting access to the beach and waves (it's already happening). Meanwhile its a tradeoff.. Locals can make money from the influx of tourists but their lifestyles change in the process. A quote I heard once in Mexico seems appropriate, "Bad roads bring good people. Good roads bring all kinds of people."

Haha! Yeh, the swell was sorting itself out. It likes the SW when it hits the top of the point and just lines up the entire length of the point. We got glimpses of it, but Bryan Perez was saying on the best day it was a 5 out of 10! Imagine a good day! Wow.

@@OldSurfDad the local wild would definitely know. We just got a new swell here, it’s a lot bigger, and direction is better I suppose. The last two swells in a row though were just not good for rights.

I'd rather watch his smooth flowing style vs. someone with their legs spread wide pumping and pumping just to pull off one big air. I can appreciate the difficulty of the air but the surfing leading up to it is downright ugly!

@@bradrielly7031 right, each one to its own. I prefer a mix of face and more advanced surfing.

I'm surprised by these comments about Ethan, but I guess each has their own experience with surfing and what type of surfing they prefer. Everyone on the Pro Tour is there for a reason. They have the rarest of skills that make them the best in the world. Let us bring less criticism and more understanding to those with a style that doesn't resonate with us and enjoy the surfing of those that do make us feel the stoke.
