Cool video. In my teens, the first time I watched my sinker and a big mullet head go about fifty feet straight up after the line broke trying to cast past the surf on Galveston west beach I learned to put a heavier line leader a few turns onto my reel to take the shock. Good explanation.

Thank you for your reply it makes our day to to know someone is enjoying our little video’s/adventures. I have a million ideas but the summer goes by so fast it seems impossible to do even part of our adventure ideas
The awesome part is you don’t have to have a lot of money to go surf fishing anyone can do it with very little cost. Halibut from shore is doable and a lot of fun.
Thanks for the video! For the shock leader, was that three total spins of the reel? I noticed it almost looked like you were gonna for a 4th but the video was split edited.
