The only thing Microsoft needs to work on now is creating a good movie making program + wordpad processor and then they'd be on the same level as Apple program-wise. I still can't believe they had some dumb "Creator's Update" with nothing for video editing. I wish I could flame them.

Look on QVC and Amazon. Most of them were around $1800, but you might be able to find something for $1600 or less. I know Amazon had some refurbs that were about 2 or 3 hundred dollars less than brand new models.

Right now it's 1700 for 512gb 16gb i7 with performance

The thing is, Mac users always assume something is wrong with a Windows PC, and not with the way they're using the machine. Always check more reviews from dedicated Windows PC users before you make the same assumption :)

I mean if you are willing to appreciate the throughout of Thunderbolt and the advantages of USB-Type C at the same time, the MacBook Pro is nicer. But it is in fact still too expensive for what you get.

it really isn't. neither the surface book nor MacBook pro 2016 are worth it. they are very much the same device at the same price. none of them are value and equally as overpriced. the $2399 model of macbook pro comes with a quad-core while microsoft's equivalent priced model has a dual core.

You could also then counter the fact that the 13-inch model comes with a dual-core i7 if you decide to max it out in the CPU department and still be quite expensive.

Awesome 2 in 1 laptop for work performance and gaming. I had the 512gb ssd 2016 model and the biggest issue I had while owning one was small but it made a huge impact on my decision to keep it. And that is when you use the headphone jack, you can hear a really loud static noise as if there's a fly buzzing inside your ear. For such a high premium product, that's really embarrassing for Microsoft. I study at the library and when it's super quiet there, the static noise is unbearable. I've tried exchanging mine for another thinking it was a defect and it still produces the same problem. Tried different earphones as well and it's still am issue. I won't be paying 3k for something this pathetic. I don't know why these reviewers don't show this as an issue. It needs to be addressed and once it is fixed then I'll purchase it again. As for Apple, I need a touch screen so their out. The touch bar is such a joke.

Thanks. The shading is not as important to me because I'm not an artist. I'm interested in using these devices to replace my writing pad that I use to interview people or take notes at meetings. I'm looking for the best digital replacement for pen and paper.

Jong-Won Kim weirdly enough most reviewers that have reviewed the surface book have switched back to the new MacBook Pro. I just purchased mine today for $2059.00 and I don't even want to open it as I am having buyers remorse, my conscious is telling me I am going to regret it when the revamped 2017 surface book is released this October. Maybe if this was $1499 I would feel so much better about it, but for 2 grand with no USB-C, I know I'm going to regret it when fall comes around. Well, time to go return for MacBook Pro 15"(overpriced but holds its value damn well and it's future proofed with USB C of course)

I would get this if you really need a laptop now and make sure you get the student discount from Microsoft store. But if you can wait, then you'll be one of the lucky ones to get the revamped 2017 Surface Book model (Nvidia 1050/1060, kaby lake, USB-C, and new surface pen) its going to be awesome. looking forward to October, can't come soon enough.

Would be really helpful if you could install some Autodesk and Adobe software on it, say 3dsMax, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Indesign etc. e.g. open a complex model in 3ds Max and see how it operates. if there's a lag etc.

+Symone Premiere elements is the closest thing. However, if you plan to edit 4K videos, Final Cut and iMovie are much better thank premiere in my opinion and many people on RU-vid switched to it for that reason.

Could be ur settings honestly. Maybe u have ur microphone on listen and u hear the static noise or simply the settings or ur headphones are busted. The static noise is really new, I haven't heard anybody with it hence why its not widespread and not worth mentionning on a review. Its either ur device or you. I've got mine and it doesn't have any kind of static noise.

This isn't rocket science. You plug in the damn earphones and it should work without this rambling nonsense you speak of. Yes, I tried to explore the settings and found a solution that people had a problem with last year's surface pro lineup but that audio settings isn't there anymore, probably after the windows 10 update. And of course any idiot would think about using different earphones for troubleshooting. I've had other people listen to what I've heard to confirm I'm not crazy. I wish it was just an earphone issue since I do not like to waste time exchanging and calling tech support. But I have exchanged it for another one and the same issues still occurred. It's an electrical static noise that sounded like it's from the battery which is quite common in electronics. This only occurs when there is an audio playing and it will linger on for about a minute after you pause or stop the audio. In case you're wondering I had the 512 gb did 16gb ram 2gigs ddr5 nvidia graphics performance model. I have two other laptops that don't give me this problem, one for work and one old one for personal use. No issues with them. So it's obvious it's the product. This means quality control isn't up to par for such a premium product and that is really disappointing.

Not many people can afford their high price laptop, especially the model I have to voice an opinion about it. The only people they rely on are reviewers who doesn't even use it on a regular basis and only use it for a few hours for testing the basic shit just to get the reviews out. Can you afford one? Don't have half the attention to detail and aesthetics? Have you not looked up the Surface Books? They look just as good if not better than apples products and come with more functionnality. If apple really paid attention to detail than they'd know photographers and content creators need SD Card slots in their laptop. If they paid attention to their laptop design they wouldn't force u to have a crap ton of dongles and a dock and adapters to simply use your device on the day to day. If they paid attention to detail u'd be able to charge ur Iphone 7 into your macbook pro 2016.
