Really nice and insightful content, thanks a lot for sharing! Just curious, do you have any success with retrieving data by swapping solderd-on BGA NVME chips to a off-the-shelf M.2 board after this? Or do you find out why your attempt failed? Could it be that the M.2 board you are using is expecting a TOSHIBA chip but you put a SKhynix chip on it? I really wonder if it's possible because recently I'm trying to do the same thing with a Samsung NVME chip, and the PC3000 software and adapter are crazy expensive if I just want to do this for a single time :/ Edit: Ah never mind, I watched the video again and realized you already mentioned it at 7:42. But can you still elaborate if those successful cases are interchanged chip brand and board, or the board and chip brand has to match?
Is working as a digital forensics analyst etc hard in the federal bureau of investigation?(like getting accepted, is there lot of competition in that field?)
@@forensicguy was doing a little research on these adapters, seems from here Luke was using some generic one, not the one by Dolphin. Dolphin is too expensive, so that's why I'm asking. I believe the controller resides inside the chip, so any adapter would read it? I know bitlocker is another thing though. Thanks
@@forensicguy got one since your comment, Toshiba tends to be a single chip and Samsung tends to have the controller and memory as two chips soldered one on top of the other 👍
Hey, like your channel. If i can offer - buy lavalier microphone, the sound is not really good at the moment. By the way, i was choosing some mic for myself and i think taskam dr-10l is pretty good, or zoom f2. And i have pc-3000 flash, and soldering station, i even solce several case with usb and recover data, most hard things for me is build image from dump, if you ever do content this type i will appretiate that. But anyway, cool videos, and nice that you do them more freqently. Hello from russia :)
I think my levels on camera were too low and fixing it in post made it worse. Too much background noise. I’ll try to get the sound better. In some instances I didn’t have external mic In this video as I wasn’t in the lab. You didn’t want to get FlashExtractor or vnr?
@@forensicguy i was thinking what to buy, because i have not allot money and i pick pc-3000 flash because it have russian support and training center in Rostov, so i buy this tool and go learn for 3 days there, they have very good cources but i still have problem with logic image assembly, maybe need more practice. I wish to have other tools too, but as is not my specialisation yet, i cant affort it.
Thanks for watching! Btw spinrite is a joke between data recovery professionals, it doesn’t do anything. No matter how much Gibson likes to lie about it, it really doesn’t do anything. On the contrary, it can actually make the drive much worse.
