I own the original Studio, i7, 32GB RAM, 980m gtx. I never thought I would buy an all-in-one but I have to admit, it’s the best desktop PC I’ve ever owned. After two years, I have no complaints. I’d love to upgrade to the Studio 2 but I’ll wait for the next gen with the rumored modular design.
Thank you for the reassuring review. I've just become an All Apps user of Adobe Creative Cloud. To maximize that, I intend to buy a Surface Studio 2, with top options, next month. (I will NEVER be an Apple person; too much Windows experience ingrained.) ++ BUT your review didn't make mention of the sound quality. That is very important to me (Met Opera On Demand subscription, iTunes (4K?) movies, TV, etc.). However, I have seen mention elsewhere that audio design and function are good. I'm 75 this year so it will be a Bucket List item realised. (Afterthought: When not in use, what is a good way of preventing dust from settling on the screen?)
I run a creative studio, I am a “graphics professional” and this hasn’t got enough graphics power for complex 3D rendering using Arnold or Octane. If you wanna scribble on the screen, maybe this is for you, if you need a graphics beast you’d best look elsewhere. Additionally, it turns out the iMac is actually better value and that surprises me as much as anyone else! I actually don’t like favouring Macs as I dislike Apple these days.
Can't understand Microsoft waiting until 2020 to release a monitor only version without all the underwhelming and unupgradable hardware built in. It's like they want a competitor to beat them into getting my money.
