When I was 18 I wanted to become a shaper on the SW coast UK ,my life was surfing longboards and being in the sea ,not big waves just 3 foot clean easy rides to cleanse the mind ,long story short did my back in while surfing and now at 53 still watching vids ,you sir have great skills in your hands🤙🤙
Never to late...just finished my second board @61...neck fusion, lower spine issues, arm pain...give it a go, great therapy. Built latest over 5 weeks in covid lock down.
@@BendheimBoards wish I could get back in the water but I have 2 bulging discs and arthritis on my verts and I am taking 8 codeine 30/500s and 4 anti inflammatory tablets a day just to take away the pain and the top of my right leg is numb ,this all happened when I was surfing ,but I might have a go at body boarding just so I can get that rush from that first ride again 🤙🤙
I always loved skateboarding being a city kid road them around to my late 40's then came down with Lyme Disease and I'm still upset that I never got to try surfing but the arthritis and nerve damage is so bad I have days I can hardly walk. But I see things like this and it brings me happiness. Always been good with working with my hands and art so I can really appreciate watching this and all the work put into this.
Great work. I’m a woodfinisher and teacher of the craft now with over 50 yrs working in some the most prestigious homes and projects in the US and ex-surfer. No one unless they’ve done it knows what goes into great craftsmanship. Great job!!!
Felt good to watch that. As an artist I appreciate the variety of skills needed to so "easily" make this work of art happen. A truly beautiful thing to see take shape, so anyone who wonders why some boards cost so much... this is why. And worth it.
Thank you for that! To qoute the other person it is therapeutic. I had no idea that much work went into a board. Your a hard worker which from my grandpa was a major compliment 😀
Hi...Beautiful. You sir. are in the right profession. Thanks for the invite, a classic board with a contemporary look and appeal. Very clever. Cheers, and good team work!
Beautiful Board! The smell of resin is so nostalgic to me! Reminds me of my father making surfboards growing up. He had built a clean room in the garage and the whole house would smell of resin when he was glassing. 💖
I just sat through this entire video...and enjoyed every second!! I've done plenty of fiberglass repair, and epoxy work on river tables etc... but nothing this cool! Nice video! And great job!
You were killing me grinding the laps with that drill. I almost stopped the video halfway through to comment and say, you know, those Makita Sanders are a dream and have way more control in all stages of glassing, but I held back cringing, then all of a sudden there you are blazing away with a Makita. I really like your lap width gauge. It's clean and neat. Most of the ones I've seen have been crafted out of a broken board, but they amount to the same thing. The blind box drop with a brick is pretty risky. I always use a dedicated straight and true fin to set the boxes. Can't afford to have one croocked fin box. But not saying you don't have it wired. I've been building boards for 60 years, and I'm giving this finished board and your craftsmanship an A+.
Great skills...and awesome vid. Double cut lap tricks there for sure, that l will do nxt time, if make another. Just finished my second board at 61, waiting for swell to drop for my 9'9.5"...shaping boards had been on my list for the 47 years of surfing..As some have said watching and building boards is very therapeutic..totally agree. Our sheds motto-" what could possibly go wrong."
I didn’t know there was so much work that went into creating a surfboard! When I thought you were through you had about 10 more steps! Great work! Thanks for sharing!
Another beautiful board! Everyone of your projects comes out so good it's hard to see how each new one can get even better! Looks like you've solved the masking issues - good on you!. Nice to have an assistant in the bay with you too! Thanks for sharing.
@Lord Riggnarok You can pour resin on a skateboard deck and move it around with a heat gun. But the resin could crack if your actually riding it, not sure.
congratulations for your work , i am brazilian in love with the beach and surfing but not brave enough to face the sea hahaha but i also admire a lot the factory of surfboards.... hugs and congratulations again
sick video, all the boards u make are so sick, I love surfing, I mainly surf like 3-6 foot waves I love it. anyway great vid, keep it up, ur a legend🤙👍
Honestly watching these videos is therapeutic. I haven't had the best day so to watch this and then feel better, really helps me out. Keep up your awesome work ❤️
Hi Tanner, I want to learning surfing and I would love to buy a surfboard. However, I’m quite confused about what board I should get. So I thought who better to ask than a surfboard maker! Also, I absolutely am crazy about your videos. They’re very calming to watch and the lever of attention to detail is mind blowing! This is just a tip, try having these videos on Instagram. You’d be surprised with the amount of people who would love watching your work.
I don't know if I can read this, but I've been watching this channel since I happened to see it as an algorithm. Thank you for posting a video of making such a beautiful board. I really want to request my own board. But I'm worried because I don't know how to order.
