The surfboard volume is that factor which being calculated and distributed properly, helps to enhance the skills of a surfer riding and appropriate surfboard on the right waves. That' s the definition I came out with to explain what surfboard volume is all about ! Unfortunately the last trend is to buy a new surfboard basing most of the attention on its volume , not considering other critical factors that impacts on its overall performance. Surfboards are made with different materials which confer certain characteristics in terms of buoyancy, but you should also take in consideration how volume is distributed within the core. If you owned 2 surfboards with the same volume which are not specular, you can experience a completely different performance, and choosing the wrong stick for the perfect day can completely ruin your surf session. All beginners and intermediate surfers should stick in their mind that the wrong volume and its distribution will stop their learning curve!
