This otter is being tracked by Monterey Bay Aquarium. Their prognosis is that this otter is not afraid of humans, which could end up being its demise. If caught, it is going to end up in another aquarium somewhere. It was in captivity before in its life, an otter that got abandoned, when a pup, and got to like humans a bit too much, if you will, when rehabilitated.

She has already lived in captivity, obviously she didn't like it. Leave her be.

I'd say leave the otter alone, she's not venturing into human territory, she's living life in her natural environment...and I'm quite surprised the geniuses who are trying to capture her don't know that otters are highly territorial...

It does not look like her health is an issue and therefore not a good enough reason to take her out of her home. Too bad for the inconvenienced humans when we are in their world. You go girl! Otter 🦦 841 😂✊🏼

Since when do you need to put an otter in an aquarium to appreciate the existence of nature? I've been begging for industry to stop killing our planet for decades, I didn't need the zoo to motivate me. Conserve and protect this animal? Bull pucky, you're "rescuing" this otter because it's inconvenient to relatively wealthy people, and you're gonna make a tonne of money showing the cute otter off as a side bonus.

Sea otters do not surf. Sea lions and dolphins, on the other hand, do know how and can bodysurf waves. This sea otter just wants to hang out and bite a soft surfboard. Unfortunately, that means it isn't afraid of human contact. That also means it can get close to fishing boats, for instance, or jet skis perhaps, and that wouldn't be a good thing. I'd suggest that the people who think they know more than marine biologists contact the Monterey Bay Aquarium to find out why an otter getting too close to humans isn't good for the otter!
