before using surge protector extensions, make sure that your house is properly grounded, Surge protectors need a good grounding system to disperse the surge outside quickly.

How do u make sure the house is grounded, and what happens if its not
@Layarion
@Layarion 2 года назад
@@Asiaofegypt A ground provides a safe path for electricity to go when it shouldn't be there. Be it excess electricity or electricity that is going through something it shouldn't. So it'll have two paths available then; one through the device, and one through the ground wire. Without a ground - the path through the device is it's only option, and it won't pass up on that option.

Should have mentioned that surge protectors only lasts a number of times before it just becomes a normal plug. 100volt surge protectors protect surges amounting to 100 volts then it becomes useless. They are a waste of money. AVR's lasts pretty much for a lifetime and UPS lasts until the batteries in them goes bad, afterwards they pretty much act as an AVR...but you can always replace the batteries in a UPS.

@DeepThinker193
@DeepThinker193 2 года назад
@@vancanque2213 There's no way to count the remaining numbers of protection in a surge protector. The cheap ones are pretty much a one and done deal, completely useless. I hv two Prolink 1200va UPS that are line interactive, meaning they hv a built-in AVR. They're for my PC & broadband modem + router, which are critical since I now work from home. What I discovered is that whenever there's a surge or sag, both units would automatically switch to battery power to continue providing clean, stable power. Unfortunately that triggers a built-in alarm that can't be switched off. The beeping racket was unbearable esp when trying to hold Zoom meetings. After talking to Prolink technicians, I plugged each Prolink 1200va UPS to an APC Line-R 1500va AVR. So I ended up having both UPS and AVR units.

Hello Sir Alex, so as a best sweet spot talaga, AVR is the best since it can smoothen out the flow of electricity (to preserve the longevity of devices), tas in the tradeoff nalang na mas mababa yung capacity nya in case of surge no? I'm torn kasi if (APC PM53-VN SURGE PROTECTOR) or (Akari AVR 1000W Servo Motor 75% Copper Wire (AVR-SVC 1000)) yung bibilhin ko e, pero parang mas okay nga pag AVR.

Hello. Are you still available for a few questions? This video is 3 yrs old. Not sure if you are still up. This is the deal. I live in Colombia. I had 2 expensive Samsung TV go out before 3 years. One just made it to 2 years. Warranty is done then the TV won't work. My fiend said he had the same issue and believe its the fact that the power goes out too often and the surge damage the TV. However, I do use the cheaper white surge protectors. My fridge and washer are fine and working over 5 years. He told me to get an UPS. I got the Powerwest Micornet 750. Here is the question. First, did I even need the UPS? Second the power went out about 7 times last month. I noticed the TV went off suddenly when the power went off.
@AlexPCTech
@AlexPCTech 6 месяцев назад
To answer your question, I have never heard of the brand Powerwest, thats why I am not sure if it is a reliable UPS as you stated that the TV went off even though it's plugged in the UPS. My suspicion is the UPS is not doing it's job. UPS' has built in surge protectors. So, in case your UPS is not working, the Surge protector doesn't as well. The need for a UPS for me is really for computers when you don't want to loose data or on servers to properly mitigate damage due to sudden power loss. This can also be applied to household appliances, Yes. But in my opinion is it a necessity? No, a good surge protector from a reputable brand is what we use in the Philippines and here also in the UAE.

t's hard to use UPS because of maintenance and it costs. The following problem of using UPS 1) when should I replace the battery if its empty? 2) How do i know if the battery is empty? 3) You have to recharge ( there is already a problem when and how to recharge ) and replace ( what to replace the whole unit of UPS or the battery?) ..Using a UPS is complicated and it need attention for maintenance. While using an AVR ..no problem, no need for maintenance to recharge just plug it and play.. no headache .

Hey man, i am having a serious problem with my current surge protector. I recently built a new PC and for some reason every once in a while i get sudden power loss from it. (Surge protector keeps tripping) Do you know what would cause this and a solution would be? I thought that maybe it has to do with not enough amps to support my build? or maybe the surge protector is faulty? (bought an APC one not too long ago) i am currently looking for a new surge protector or even a UPS.
@AlexPCTech

Hi venom, Is Eddie around? Hehe anyway did you try a different socket? Have you tried without the surge protector? It might be a loose connection inside the surge protector as well. If you have tried to isolate it and the outlet is fine, better get a new surge protector from mrs. Chen.

Is there anything to protect UPS from Voltage Fluctuations? Bought a new UPS and it short circuted upon shutdown of my PC. How can I protect UPS from getting burned or having anyother problems due to voltage issues? Is it advisable to use Surge Protector or AVR on UPS? I don't think UPS itself can handle Voltage Fluctuations without damaging itself first...
@AlexPCTech
@AlexPCTech 2 года назад
Good Day Syed, 1. Yes, a Surge protector should be able to handle voltage fluctuations from the wall. 2. This should not have happened, as UPS's also have avr functionalities, if it is still under warranty, i strongly recommend you return it. Yes, you can plug your UPS to a surge protector. 3. It is advisable to use all of the three, and yes, you are correct, the UPS cannot handle voltage fluctuations alone, but it also has AVR capabilities for up to 170V to 280V, if you ask me, thats a pretty wide range.

@AlexPCTech
@AlexPCTech 2 года назад
@@reyjustine7116 Thank you for your question, I could'nt really see the application of a relay as for my understanding, a relay relays the entire current to another switch, whereas an AVR will be controlling the current that is coming in. Im not an EE by the way so chances are there are variations of a relay that might be similar to how an avr handles current.

Just relax and breath and if you can get your hands on a UPS, if your powersupply is around 700watts then I advice you to buy an AVR ( APC Smart UPS 1000VA ) Its fine, don't be scared, but if its raining or there are thunderstorms, I advice you to not turn it on for the meantime until you get your hands on a UPS, regards from UAE and Take Care!
