I've just finished watching this film and I thought it was excellent. I've never had a breakdown but this film captures perfectly what I imagine it would feel like if I ever did, I found the camera work very disorientating. I would highly recommend it if you've not watched it

I think this movie describes bipolar disorder, the main character was very depressed and suddenly he got into a maniac phase. I almost gave up on this movie in the beginning but I'm glad I didn't.

It’s got a lot going for it in my opinion and I feel if you can relate to the subject matter it’s a very realistic and harrowing journey... The interactions between wishaw and his parents feels almost real to me...you really feel and sense where his mental issues have grown from. The slight let down though is some of the other cast members in my opinion. I personally felt his release at the end ...his release from whatever he was suffering from Because this can be interpreted in many different ways...(in my opinion some sort of untreated PTSD that’s manafested ) Back in 2019 I also watched them film parts of this in Enfield London ... It was the parts at his parents house and some of the street scenes...so this was an added bonus. Great review by kermode by the way ...I say great because he liked it hehe

I can see why people resonate with the film and why others didn’t like it. It can seem a bit disjointed and ad hoc. If reading into it, for me it portrays a man that’s so isolated and hopeless that he simply wants to tear his life up instead of going on as is. His makeshift hotel bed and laying naked on his bed in his parents house almost in the fetal position evoke a desire to start again and return to childhood, and the loveless relationship he has with his Dad perhaps suggests his upbringing is where his problems all stemmed from.

I also thought it was like a less stylistic and more realistic version of Joker. The struggle, the pressure and then the rebirth of the character, It hit harder than Joker for me because it was more grounded.

I understand the significance behind the camera work direction they went in but I have to say it was very close to ruining the film for me. I get it, he’s trying to show the manic nature of what’s happening but at points it got too much for me honestly.

Half way threw the film and how familiar the film feels to real life. Banks are a pain in the ass when your card is swallowed they expect a passport or driving licence it's infuriating when you don't have either. This film is worth watching.

I really didnt enjoy this film, it went on too long (even tho it was a short film) and its very repeditive. I thought id like it, i respect a director trying to do something new that i havent seen before but this one didnt land on me. The main character was a great actor tho.

Surge of adrenaline. He got a taste of it when he bit into the glass and that moment spiralled out into him becoming a adrenaline junkie away from the mundane life he was living. It reminded of the moment keanu reeves character bumped his head against the kitchen cabinet door in scanner darkly and it was just a catalyst for him looking at how discontent he was with his life deep down

A rather pointless and self indulgent film with no inherent story or lesson other than modern society cannot care for the genuinely mentally ill.....
@LP-ls8ew
@LP-ls8ew Год назад
But it’s a reality that some are unfortunately in. It shows how a human that endured so much loneliness would lead to chaos. I wouldn’t say that it is pointless as to me, it makes me realise how lucky I am to have people in my life and to think about others that suffer from mental illness.

I agree, it was absolutely awful, towards the end it just seemed like he was pulling off body movements and behaviour like a child in the playground taking the piss out of someone disabled (not acceptable) It also seemed like a really pathetic attempt to copy the movie 'Falling Down' that started Michael Douglas....now that was a movie!!

@@dazzies3 I don’t wanna be a weirdo, but yes I agree. I think I went thru some mild episodes of panic or whatever myself, and it is scarily accurate. Definitely very uncomfortable for someone like me. I’m sure to the general audience it’s pretty silly and stupid. I would’ve thought the same a few years back. But seeing the mental health within myself and my family and even some friends unveil itself and sort of go downward, it’s very very scary. Take care of your mental health guys! Seriously. This movie should be a reason why. Live your life as beautifully and peacefully as you can and take care of that brain of yours!
