This is a ass kicking instrument, a go to synth for the drum and bass heads, good to see it return as open source, this could see many future updates and extras added, some of the plugins inside modulation can be tricky to use but it's worth a good mess around with
Had this is my book of ideas for so long now. I have an issue with the synth resizing and stopping me using it on mac so hopefully there will be updates in the future.
Thank you so much for constantly making videos about this stuff. It helps me greatly, and it really means a lot. I really appreciate it. Hope you, and your loved ones stay safe ❤. Same to the rest of yall
Great tutorial ! Although I'm not an expert in this, but still i can contribute a little thing : In the filters section there is this yellow little number. When you choose one of the curves you can swap through number of diffrent built in fillters by pressing this little number. Each of the curves (lp, hp, band etc ) has few options and they all sound different and have different quality .
This one came from the Demis Hellen community. If you ever have anything to share you can join the Demis Hellen chat on my Facebook page 😉😎 you are welcome and thank you for the kind words.
The oscillator's width slider doesn't actually do anything if the shape slider is right in the middle. The width slider actually controls the pulse width when the shape is set to a square wave, or to the double-saw wave
Synths paid or free...I guess the UI and sound engine is really the true difference. If you can think of a way to copy a preset from one synth to another... maybe that may be a good video idea? I seen ANA 2 from Sonic Academy is on a price cut. I love using it... Cheers.
Hmmm, this synth doesn't look like it provides a way to adjust the oscillator phase. That is concerning, since I consider unison phase spread to be an important part of making a supersaw
According to the manual technically the width is altering the phase and the MX Start Phase help change that too. Maybe a revisit to cover this synth in a little more depth. :)
it's in the filter config, u can right click on the begining of the chain there and choose wide as the configuration you want, then everything after that can be stereo or mono if ever u wanna convert them back into mono as the final output it's actually a rlly powerful synth, it's so much more complicated than sylenth1 which i also have, sylenth is much easier to use and much simpler but this gives you some FM features and i also recommend vital as a serum substitute if u haven't heard of it, it's just as power hungry if not more but if u have the juice then def try it out
From what I've seen, that's unavailable for download/purchase anymore. The current developers of Surge would like to get their hands on it, but they already have a lot on their plate. They also think they would struggle with the proprietary formats too. Rest assured though, they'd want to develop it like they are Surge.
Well the discontinued version is still available for download and for free. But mind this, it's not supported. Just hope the Surge Synth Team does something about it.
@@adityanair7342 they want to, but they apparently think they'll have issues with the non-open formats that the synth supports. Even the creator of Shortcircuit wouldn't mind giving it over to the Surge team... But they also want to keep working on Surge and Stochas for the time being
@@autumnbrushtail Yeah that's there too. Surge does need more work on it, there are a lotta places it can get better, at the same time maintaining compatibility and stability with low end devices. I didn't quite get what you meant by "non-open formats the synth supports"
@@demishellen Sorry to be so harsh in my criticism. I'm figuring out how to design the sounds that I'm targeting, in small and slow drips... Once I get to the point where I know how to do what I want to do, I'll publish a tutorial... If you see it some day, maybe you'll get an idea of what I was "expecting to find". In any event, thanks for your efforts!!
i play alot of metal on guitar. there is a band called born of osiris who use strings and synths in there music and it sounds great . do you have any surge synth presets that might be good with modern metal? ( might not be your genre of music i know haha)
