I'm telling you if it wasn't for some unfortunate strategy choices veekay would have two top 5s in the first two races. Ed carpenter racing said that Long Beach was their worst track and he got 12th I believe. He probably won't win the championship but he's a dark horse for a top 5 overall. This is the competitive Ed Carpenter racing like back when they had newgarden

Interesting that Tatianya Calderon was more than a full second ahead of Jimmy Johnson. I keep thinking back to the podcast Danica Patrick did with Johnson before the start of last year's season. He commented that he never realized that Indy cars were as "violent" as they are. He spoke then as to how bruised he was after practice at the road circuits. Age is working against the guy, at least on the road circuits and "natural road courses."

Man I wished I would of went this year. Most definitely next year. I went to Talladega this year and I'm going to Darlington next week. You're a good IndyCar reporter. Keep up the good work. Let's go Newgarden and McLaughlin. Go TP.

I think based on the Weather app, it's supposed to rain in the morning, at least in North Alabama, a bit less cut and dried in Leeds, AL.

They would have been better off with Santucci and Harvey was probably better off staying put. He's not going to last long at this rate. One and done and not with good prospects if this keeps up. I hope I'm wrong but looking like a potential total career implosion.

If not for Andretti’s strategy decisions , we could have Herta or grojean on pole, a shame the team are still making mistakes like this

Your thoughts on this being a 2 stop race I think may be off. If it stays dry I think it's gonna be a 3 stop race. They have added 1 extra parade lap to burn just a little extra fuel. This way they pretty much will be out of fuel just short of the checkers. If there is a lot of yellow laps then possibly someone may stretch it out. Out of fuel on a 3 mile track kills you. It will be interesting to watch the different strategies play out.

A shame Andretti messed they’re strategy up , grojean did a 1.06.200 in Q1 and Herta wasn’t far off , both cars plenty quick enough for pole.

Thought Scotty was going sub 1'06", but a little sliding put pay to that, left it late too,... but I think he and Palou will have the fastest race cars.

Things aren't looking too good for Herta right now. He's my pick for the championship, though it looks like McLaughlin and Palou will battle it out amongst themselves

You realize Newgarden is leading the championship right now, right? And that his points finishes the last 3 years have been 1st, 2nd, and 2nd? If he hadn’t had such a slow start in either 2020 or 2021, he’d be a 3 or even 4 time champion. The field better watch out for the 2 car, or he’s going to leave them behind the rest of the season.

Tbh , I’d put my money on grojean before Herta , if and that’s a big if , Andretti can sort themselves out , Herta just seems to crack under the pressure and while grojean might be a tiny bit ( like 0.010 sec) slower , he has more experience and seems to do better under pressure e

Hes said it took him and Andretti longer than other teams to adjust to the weight change and balance change of the Aeroscreen, and since fixing that, Andretti has just had a mix of bad luck and poor pit execution and mechanical failures that make things look far worse than they are.
