Excellent setup for any level. Very low risk move. If you're too forceful with the hip bump, you wil end up on top and if not, you can go back to closed guard and start again.

For me, using the foot in the hip to push away is everything. This is the reason why I could never fully lock my triangle in properly. Great video👍

Love the extra details! I have also used the foot to push the hips out, puts a lot of pressure on the neck and spine.
@davidpignatore6532

It also helps to create a better angle and blocks the arm from popping out while adjusting.

I struggle with this so bad. Getting up on my elbow to fake the hip bump sweep is so hard for me to do. I don’t even try for triangles in suck so bad it.

I don't understand why letting go of the lapel before doing the figure four. I think that if you leave your hand there and figure 4 to either side you'll still get a quick tap, no? The leg squeezes the hand on the neck.

This seems exactly like Ryan Hall's Hip Bump Triangle.
@Razenghan

It's close. Ryan Hall shows it with a collar tie, and Giancarlo's doing a cross-collar grip.

It's similar, but there are some details here that feel more complete. I specifically like how he uses the grip on his shin to push and stretch your opponent away from their hips.

What was the purpose of all the grip detail at the start if you're then just gonna let it go , ?
@BarryFromEastenders
@BarryFromEastenders 3 года назад
@ooga ooga I know that , I just meant the amount of detail. Basically pull him down by the collar. You don't have time for all that detail with a quick collar grip/grab as a good guy will immediately try strip the grip. Or he should.
@BarryFromEastenders
@BarryFromEastenders 3 года назад
@ooga ooga I get it , train myself to. Was just pointing it out. Most technique when being thought will say , take a left side collar grip, ..next . Just an observation

Nice technique, but I have to disagree with you about the collar grip. Maybe if you have small hands it’s better to grab less material, but someone like me with very big hands, it’s much more comfortable and controlling to grab a big wad of gi with the collar. Plus it tightens everything around the grip a little more. Takes slack out better.

Kinda funny how this triangle choke takes about 10 highly telegraphed moves. I choke guys out all the time with a triangle choke that is locked up tight in one fluid motion, no telegraph at all. A bit like Nate Diaz does his triangles. I don't even need to cross my legs over the back. Just saying, it's inefficient.
