I wish we were given an opportunity to save the old overdrive via patreon or smth. I rarely donate or use patreon, but if I knew the channel was on the edge I very possibly would opt in to support it.
OVERDRIVE 3 weeks ago Hi, everyone. This is Scott from OVERDRIVE. First, thank you to the half-million of you who’ve subscribed since we began in 2021, it's your support that drives us. I know we haven't posted new videos lately, but the channel is still here, and I have an update to share with you. Running OVERDRIVE for the past three years has been an incredible journey, albeit with its challenges. In 2023, we hit a rough patch with expenses nearly doubling our income. As an independent channel, that’s not sustainable. Last November, I made the heartbreaking decision to cease production at OVERDRIVE. This meant we had to let most of OVERDRIVE's amazing staff go and significantly change the roles of others. That wasn’t something anyone wanted, but there wasn’t an alternative. However, following recent conversations with my family, mentors, and other creators, it became apparent that OVERDRIVE could continue IF we adapt and change. That means minimal staff and no expensive races or stunts. We won’t be finding out which £2000 car can jump the farthest - not just yet, anyway. In the coming weeks, OVERDRIVE will be making focused automotive content that satisfies curiosity and is still fun to watch. We’ll be diving into cutting-edge technology, sharing forgotten stories from automotive history, and examining the science, engineering, and design behind your car, as well as some of the most unique cars ever made. We’ll try to make that entertaining, too! Our mission for 2024 is to make content that gives value to the community of enthusiasts who’ve supported OVERDRIVE. So, please stick with us for a little longer, your support is what drives us forward. And always please give us your feedback along the way. Ultimately, we’re relying on you to survive. Now, we’re going to get to work creating new content to release over the coming weeks, so please look out for OVERDRIVE’s next video soon. Thanks for watching! -Scott idk of they got gid of Callum and will. btw this is on the commuty tab on the channel
@@RH_Racing163 Yeah, I saw that post too, but I was hoping they would have at least kept Callum and Will around to at least present videos with Scott. 2k pound cars or not 😥
They said the same exact thing of the early Japanese products. Until they became the epitome of quality and reliability. Whilst Toyota becoming the biggest car producer in the entire world. Dude, times are continuosly changing , just try to keep up with them!
@@stupidocanerosa Except china have been making cars for decades and they're still lacking in style, build quality, and in many cases performance versus their western/japanese/korean rivals.
You had something good going, and now you have 2 of the exact same channels. Just like grand tour and old top gear, i only care if you've got all 3 host. I doubt youll be able to convert this audience into injoying one guy monologing for 8 minutes so he can put midrole ads
Driver61 = Racing videos OVERDRIVE = Car videos It's as simple as that. I don't get why you're all crying for the old format when you were notified with enough time and reasons of the inevitable changes. If this isn't your cup of tea there is the door. That said, some kind of membership goal with a progress bar for one video in the old format might work. If we want it, we'll fund it.
Because we really like the old videos and are lamenting their end. People are expressing their love of what the channel used to be. Why does that offend you so much?
@@lukasmuursepp2267 yeah we know. People are right to voice their opinion about a business changing it's product, whatever the cause. If a local italian restaurant turned into a donut shop for financial reasons, it's customers have a right to say "Man, that fvcking sucks. I could go for some spaghetti and clams". Just because you guys enjoy donuts doesn't mean we all have to be happy about it.
Hehheh the Ren name was chosen from the 8 values. It's the same word for person lol. And the Nio ep9 also shows off Nio's most important innovation. You can swap batteries.
Give them a break man! They're probably just testing out different content types n see what drives viewer engagement. Afterall, with the viewership n the revenue it brings in, it's gonna be difficult to keep putting out good content. It takes a lot of money to book tracks, get hold of vehicles etc to do the usual stuff.
Agreed! Couldn't find any evidence that they've delivered one yet. The other cool one is the Qiantu K50. There's a US startup trying to import and sell those as the Mullen GT.
it's actually pretty cool if your car can run on 3 wheel even if you get a flat tire it seems like a good idea if that tech could be integrated in modern cars
As a chinese, I've never heard of Techrules either XD. There are too many new EV/Hybrid brands coming up, claiming a "cool" car and dying for lack of money or technology.
I think it will take a long time to build similar prestige as McLaren or Ferrari. Are there any Chinese cars participating in motorsports along established brands? I wouldn’t recall, but maybe I‘m wrong. It was an interesting video :)
Nio was in Formula E for a while, under the NextEV name before they were Nio, but sold their team in... 2019, I think? The buyer continued to use the Nio name, just to keep things confusing ;)
Oh really? Ever took a look on the origin of ANY electronics you have? Chinese products are good if you will pay the right price. Compare the cheap Temu or Aliexpress smartphones with your very phone you have in your hands right now. Are they the same quality? But they probably are both made in China.
There have been track tests of the hyper ssr by car reviewers and journalists. But only in china apparently cus the car will only be sold there. Idk about the u9 yet
I drove in a rented byd suv once, it was the worst car I've ever been in, it just looked good, for now my trust in chinese cars is very low and I couldn't ever imagine buying one.
Supercar brands will die within the next 15 years because it everything will be EVs. All the other brands are going to produce just as fast cars, just as nice interiors and so on. So either Ferrari, lower their prices or close up shop.
Furthermore, I just cannot see what a Rimac can do that a Tesla Plaid cannot. The Rimac seems like a less comfortable Tesla Plaid imho. (Edit: current Plaid Nurburgring lap 7:25!!)
@@chanhkhiemtran9010 Ok, then you should ask nio, why they didnt do it. If they want to build a racecar, they should make it fast not whatever you assume it is.
Top tip , if your that broke and have to buy one of these Chinese cars , whip the old badges off and stick Ferrari badges in replacement. neither your neighbours or potential girlfriend won’t have a clue . If your that broke then a night round Doncaster on a budget big enough for 6 pints and a kebab ( that’s for the ladies drinks ) and the world is your oyster 😂😂😂
Just wasn't built to any countries specifications for road legality. I think it was intended to be a rolling advertisement for what Nio could build, and they didn't want any limitations on that!
To answer the question in the title: No, they are all missing a soul. Those "supercars" might be fast because of the car, but not because of the driver.
That's wrong. A skilled driver will always be faster in an electronic assisted car than an analogic one. No car or motorbike has any soul. They are just mechanic gizmos to go faster as possible without getting killed in the meantime. If you are a believer that there's a soul in some pistons going up and down, I hope Santa will bring you one. If you behaved, naturally. 😂😂😂
A rich person isnt gonna drive up to a gala event in a chinese SuperFox car and then brag to his friends how cheap it is. Thats not how luxury or exclusivity works.
my grandpa had bought an arcfox 7 and he got all the paper work done. but after a couple weeks he got a letter from the company where they told him that he would not get the car. (sorry for my bad english, i'm from germany)
So many times F1 drivers complained about how safety cars are slow. If FIA allow new companies like Rimac (before they get bigger) with faster cars it would show a real racing spirit instead of a money gangrene machine.
No matter what brand of street legal car you use as a pace car. They are all slow compared to an F1. Just to be clear, at maximum Rimac speed around the circuit, a Formula 1 is barely using aerodynamics and tires struggle to get warm. The F1 are made to go insanely fast, especially in the corners. Any lower speed than expected means the F1 would have to do a couple of laps at 95% to re-warm up before going 100% again.
Everything in China is highly scrutinised before getting to the public. There are no private companies there and every single product they made has to be politically approved. So it is for advertising.
My problem with Chinese cars is they seem soulless. They all seem to be targeting the higher end of the market since they're all about face. They all want something that screams luxury and sophistication with a strong brand cache. I see nothing in the vein of a Civic Si or MX5 or Mustang that stokes the flame of traditional car enthusiasm, it all seems like toys for tech bros.
Personally I wouldn’t buy a Chinese car, even if it’s cheaper. The Chinese government banned Tesla’s from driving near or past government buildings. If they think Tesla cars are spying, then what are they doing with there cars?
The problem with EV supercars is the battery. A battery that can store a decent amount of energy and mainly can discharge it very quickly is expensive and definitly not something you want to cheap out on. China does have a reputation for producing all sorts of things on the cheap, so I would be extremly careful when buying one such car and immediatly let some expert check the battery.
Not the least bit racist, are we? China makes everything for us, that you think they only make crap is a personal failing honestly, just shows you're too cheap to pay for quality stuff.
@@stupidocanerosa no, as a smartphone battery holds nowhere near as much energy, does not have to discharge it as quickly and if it does catch fire, I can throw the smartphone away. If a car battery catches fire, there is way more energy and I can not get away from it as quickly.
"Chinese cars are targeting Ferrari" what a ridiculous video title. As if chinese car companies could ever even get close to Ferrari's level of excellence and legendary status lmao. People lately putting crazier and crazier video titles just to get more views. Stop.
There is no such thing as a "supercar" or a "hypercar", there are sports cars that are involved in a sport and everything else is called, "a car". Honest reviews with no PR bull haha.
