Because it is a car. Of course it isn't the strict definition but if someone owns a truck and they come up to you and say "my car has been stolen" you are not going to have your brain explode in confusion because it is actually a truck. It is just a common usage of the word.

Quick question: do you buy someone a gift to make them happy or to be recognized? That mom is overwhelmed and thrilled while thanking Jesus.
