That Dilse tune he played is now part of innumerable insta reels and that shows how ageless rahman’s music is! And Taal is another epic score from our beloved maestro. I remember still how I used to look at the audio cover of Taal cassette which had all the lyrics of every song. I used to get lost in that magic looking at it for hours. Later, I also brought the CD 💿 of the same and used to love playing it for its amazingly out of the world sound quality and enjoy it with others too who visited our homes or when I visit others homes. And even today I listen👂to the entire Taal album with the same fervour that I used to listen at that time!

I’m always at loss for words when I think of how Rahman’s humility touches everyone he works or meets. One moment may not be able to capture it all and despite being the top music director of the country, he’s attitude towards musicians like Naveen and how he keeps them all close to his body of work is so wonderful to listen from Naveen himself!

I thought Naveen was introduced by Rahman first because of the cover credits of all Arr albums. But it’s surprising to know that he also started his career with Ilaiyaraja. Flute is very important in our classical music, North or south and Ilaiyaraja is one such music director along with ARR to have used flute explicitly to enhance many of his melodies. But the way Rahman branded the flute sound and the tuning is a testament to his sound engineering or recording skills too! But if Rahman’s career asa composer spanned 30 years, then how come Naveen played for him for more than 40 yrs is my serious doubt! Are you guys including their journey when they worked for other musicians is my question here!

B'cause you people don't know nothing about South Indians & don't want to talk about thier culture & movies. Before Rangeela, Taal, Bombay, lagaan rang de Basanti whatever.. There are so many tamil movies done by AR Rahman which was blockbuster hits. Why you people just make atleast a line..?! B'cause you don't want to. Let's not be too hard on them. They are putting in effort and approaching it with genuine respect and thoughtfulness. Please don't spoil their interest with negative comments. The makers and producers of this series seem to be from the North. Maybe when Tamil filmmakers or musicians get invited, there will be discussions about his Tamil albums on the show. No need to cause a ruckus here or go feral over the makers. As someone from South, Kerala, I don't have any grievances. In fact, I appreciate what they've been able to document so far.

I'm not sure about the series' duration, but I hope they take their time and consider it in the upcoming episodes. In the meantime, there's a fantastic RU-vid podcast called 'I Love ARR' hosted by Chandar, where he covers various artists and non-music fans of ARR. It's a great balance of career highlights and much more, even exploring his songs in different languages.
