Surprisingly Deep Spore Cell Stage Roguelike! - Sipho [Full Release] 

One Spore-like game being worked on is Thrive, which tries to recreate Spore's gameplay progress in a simulationist manner. In other words, it tries to remain as scientific and plausible as possible, while allowing any options available for that kind of a creature. This means being able to partake in photosynthesis to generate energy from the sun, or chemosynthesis to get it from hydrogen sulfide. For right now, only the cellular stage is considered anywhere close to complete, with the initial multicellular stage playable and the rest of stages technically there, but mostly for testing. The game can be played for free, though those that donate can play dev builds as well.

Mechanics wise this is a lot like all those modular spaceship games. The cellness is mostly art theme.

The soul eater weapon was damaging your parts when you fired it while it wasn't charged. Absorbing enemy parts recharges it so it wasn't particularly dangerous to spam while getting close.

Seeing little flies being controlled by a cell-like creature seems kinda wrong ngl. That said, this game seems cool!

this was addicting to watch bc it was a mix of nostalgia and just it being a interesting game would love for you to play it more

i know that so far you just play a game once, but please, make this a series it’s an amazing game and is very fun on many subsequent play throughs

I believe that the reason why the cell and creature stage is not really recreated is because of how hard it would be to recreate

Cheesing the bosses is how they're usually taken down, but they almost all have weak spots that you can take advantage of with a fast enough melee build.

Unfortunately I disagree with it being like the Spore cell stage. This is more like a space shooter in disguise. Like Boss Constructor and similar games. I think the Spore cell stage has quite some different qualities to it.

Another Spore-like besides Thrive is Elysium Eclipse - And Its quite interesting, its really early in development but it aims to make a spiritual heir to spore including all the stages and even the cut Aquatic stage, its barebones but its making progress, and im quite excited to see how it turns out, so you might want to keep an ear to that!

It feels like I've had this game in my wishlist since forever, so finally seeing it release is kinda crazy

This really reminds me of a spaceship crafting game called reassembly when you gather parts and refactor your ship into new things. Maybe thats something similar. Worth a look.

Seeing enemies also fight each other is really neat.

When you are a cell based organim, but you have flies smaller than you swarming around you. 420/11 logic.

This is pretty cool. I wish the pieces seemed more synergistic, or easier to mix and match. Would love to see another run someday.

apprently there are people out there that have been trying to get darkspore to work again, they have the play button to login screen and hero editor working, but campaign not at the moment as of 2019

All the Spore like games were complained about being too close to Spore... There were some really fun games but very unpopular because it wasn't Spore 2.0

When I play this the thing I usually end up doing is using the bubblers to push projectile forwards faster and farther than they normally do. Or the whirlers to trap enemies with whatever projectile, mine, or poison cloud I've shot out at the same time.

There is a really cool "spiritual successor" to spore being developed by a guy rn. Its called elysian eclipse and it looks really promising so far.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't combine that energy leach which seems to be able to function as a grabber with the swarm allowing your flies to catch up

There's a game called star Valor you might Like. I put nearly 100 hours into it on steam. Similar concept but space ships and trading.

Besides the first stage of spore, this gives me huge SPAZ vives

there are 11 levels. then you get to play through again. but after the first time through you get mini bosses and better stat options to make you stronger. gotta play through multiple time to feel the benefits you get.

There's several games, including this one, who started developing something similar to cell stage after spore came out. AFAIK, this is the most complete of any of those projects atm though. I will say that the first of the Bubble Tanks series of flash games was published on ArmorGames a year before Spore came out and it's still amazing to play imo, the sequels are even better.

You have seen LOTS of games like the cell stage in Spore. They're hiding in plain sight. They're just painted as spaceships instead of organisms.

I like Sipho look. I liked Dark Spore too. I kept seeing mention of people trying to make the game (DS) run local (without online server) but haven't seen anything for the past 3 years.

this looks like a mod for reassembly. if you dont know it, look it up, you will like it, its this, just much better and more flushed out

Looks like Rattler might have worked really well for your build, due to spawning flies faster.

I have this. I like the theme, but it also gets kind of stale quite fast. It needs more variety and there is something about the movement and controls that just feels "off".

It's not like there was no such games after initial Spore, it's just all of them were super meh and not worth any time. Right now you can probably add Hungry Shark series to this sub-genre as it's the only one out of 'forever early access'. Hammerfight is free to play and very similar to Spore.

I was horribly disappointed at the time by DarkSpore. I hadn't heard of it before seeing at a garage sale. Thought I was gonna get more spore. Now though I think it was pretty interesting. Probably don't even have the disk around anymore which I suppose is fine cause I doubt it still works.

After seeing this, I decided I'd get it just to see. It's interesting that some parts give buffs only to parts within a specific range, preventing you from stacking all of the buffs (or encouraging you to get creative) But the game really does a poor job of explaining how that works. For example, the starting race's energy regeneration method involves getting your booster hit... It took a bit for me to figure out that it actually benefit me to put some boosters in the front of my creature so they would get hit and I'd get energy regen and attack speed. Bit counter intuitive. I did find out that the Swarmer summons 3 bugs each. Except, with each swarmer within 2 parts away (as in they're both connected to the same piece) they get +1 summon. So having 4 each on separate parts gives you 12 bugs, but having them all on the same part give you 24. And with a certain part you can squeeze 2 more onto the same cluster, giving you 48 bugs. If they were each on separate parts you'd need a full 16 swarmers to accomplish the same thing you can do with 6. You do get power-ups like: bugs have longer range, and more attack power, but they take longer to regenerate when they die. Or bug hives have more health. But you only really start getting those on NG+ (the enemies start getting those kinds of things too) It's deceptively complex, but it still feels like it needs a fair amount more...

I think it is a huge immersion breaking mistake to be able to evolve on the fly while fighting

its so similar to spore that im confident they just copied the whole code and started to replace parts after that to make it unique enough to call it its own game

Mixing weapons i think would work alot better its also cheaper. the more of 1 part u add the more the cost went up.

that dive button on the screen is a very bad design as the game is about clicking with the mouse so you may click dive accidentally as shown in the video. It should be a shortcut button as the game won't have that much of used button to go about. Hope this button is at least optional if the devs really wanna keep the feature.

spore tried to be too many different things. Personally I'd have liked it as an evolution rpg where you level up your character over generations by evolving.
