New footage shows the moments that a Tesla flew through a red light in Pasadena early Saturday morning before slamming into a building in a crash that killed three people and injured three others. Nicole Comstock reports.
16 year old should be forced to drive a 4 cylinder gas powered compact baby car.. A tesla for a teenager? That car is faster than a Ferrari but doesn’t handle like one..
When I was a teenager, I drove my car at 120 mph on a empty freeway at three in the morning. I never did it again but wanted to see how fast I could drive my Chevy Camaro. That is how dumb I was at around 18. I am super happy I survived some really stupid moments in my life. I feel for super bad for these young people and their families.
@@jamiezenichi1017 on the freeway not on a side street running a red light. Unfortunately these newer cars make you feel much safer than the old ones I drove. when you did 100mph you felt every bit of it. now it is like ok I can even change lanes. until it is in the air.
@@Mikefngarage The Camaro I owned was a 1979 Camaro Berlinetta. It was almost new and it handled very well with Centerline rims and wide BF Goodrich tires. It rode very smoothly even at high speeds on a well maintained freeway. Still, I felt the speed and knew I would die if I crashed, so I only did it one time. Bu yeah, speeding on a regular street is a riskier proposition.
Dude exactly what I was thinking nobody forced them to drive like Reckless idiots not wear seatbelts! And drink and drive like reckless idiots! You live by the sword you die by the sword!
The human brain does not fully mature until age 26. A 22 year old, though a legal adult, is psychologically a late adolescent and males in particular still exhibit a lot of risk taking behavior that they may or may not mature out of. Driving under the influence and at that speed and without restraints however is inexcusable. RIP.
@@musk-eteer9898 you're most likely a reckless endangered driver yourself you can't compare this to someone that has cancer or gets cancer these people had a choice to not be reckless idiots! Who put themselves in this situation!
These kids don’t need these fast cars. I see em in the daytime going 80 Where it’s like 45 on the street. Really dangerous and it’s almost always young kids
Thats why parents dont buy vehicles for their kids. Especially vehicles with 3x the torque of any automobile and self driving lies associated with multiple fatality accidents. Cars that somehow skirt all NHTSA safety regulations.
Full Self Driving software would have totally not allowed that accident to have occurred. I use that application in my car daily and I sometimes disengage it, because it drives to safely. Makes full stops at signals, drives so cautiously other drivers get annoyed at me. You need to experience it before you put blame on software that will save thousands of lives once it’s perfected. But it’s 95% there already. Again, if that software was enabled, the accident would never have happened. That would be totally impossible. Go sign up for a tesl drive at the Pasadena showroom, you will be amazed. You don’t have to buy a car. I know your answer already. No one will get me into that death trap. A typical close minded response that I would anticipate from your lack of knowledge on Tesla vehicles. 😢
I have a disrespectful question but I must ask anyways. Were the three that died the three not wearing seatbelts? Or did a belted passenger die? Also this being a tesla, there could be footage first party footage from the crash.
Pretty safe bet that if three out of six weren't wearing seatbelts, the three that died weren't wearing seatbelts. Teslas are super safe cars unless you disable the safety devices. I'm guessing w/ 6 people crammed into the car, at least one person was sitting in the lap of another. Bet when more details come out, we'll find that at least one girl died.
You said the words right out of my mouth. What is wrong with anyone being a passenger not saying slow the fck down, I don't want to die because of you being a complete idiot. Who cares if they think I'm a wuss. Scream loudly ,"stop the car, I'm done, let me out".
My question is how did it take three peoples lives? That is really not very common any more. Oh six occupants. I see now. Way to much car, way to little experience, way to little maturity.
When I was a teen, we squeezed 6 people into a subcompact 2 door Honda Civic...painful. You can fit 5 in a Model 3. I suspect that there was probably at least one girl in the car who was sitting in the lap of some guy. Both were likely killed due to lack of a seatbelt. The driver would be fairly isolated unless one passenger was sitting on the center console.
Four squeezed in the back seat, but they can't be fat. I've seen two people on the front passenger side, and it wasn't a baby in someone's lap. That might not be legal, but it doesn't stop people.
Love how the media calls out Tesla name but any other brand and the headline would read "car flies through red light".. It's all about those clicks, baby. 👍
Well, as you know, if you buy a Tesla it comes with a special entitlement package. I say if parents bought that car for a kid, they should go to prison.
In Australia, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a family member or not. Probation licensed drivers are only allowed one passenger in total. Until they come off their probationary license.
Obviously more than double the speed limit. Maybe triple. Just look at all the damage to buildings and the like. On another station a reporter was interviewing a nearby resident. They were saying the need for a traffic light because of speeding cars. The driver ran a red light. No matter how many traffic lights there are, it can't stop people from driving like maniacs at 100 mph.
I feel sorry that he isn't going to have the opportunity to spend his rest of his life behind bars where he belongs. Instead he will be in Hell if there is one.
It’s coming to California soon. They will be implementing a device to make your car not go over 10 miles per speed limit . Mandatory. All because people can’t drive responsible
I thought the same thing. Why are parents letting their high schoolers hang out with 20 somethings late at night 🌙. Know who your kids are hanging out with and set a cerfew... problem solved. No 22 year old is going to be driving around my high schooler late at night... Nothing good comes of that...
Death / injury payouts are going to be way more assuming they had coverage. Will hit the maximum payouts. Property damage is capped too. The driver was 22 though. I'm sure they had very little assets. No one to sue.
Stop giving kids access to cars capable of very high speeds. Coz kids being kids, they will drink, drive and be daredevils specially when amongst friends.
Looked like a scene out of Back to the Future Part I. Parents, have that conversation with your kids about drinking, driving fast and acting a fool around other young adults. Condolences to the families involved in this crash.
Got to get back in time. I doubt the ones that gave you a thumbs up made that Association. I'm quicker than most that's because I'm 62 I know a hell of a lot more😂
Glad it wasn't any bystanders, I mean anyone one of them could have stopped the driver, just takes 1 voice. Imagine if this was your family walking out, driving by, very fortunate that there were no victims.
(imo) Driving tests should be WAY more stringent. Knowing how to drive a manual transmission, understanding basic mechanics (which could save your life knowing what is going wrong before it's too late) ... ... not enough people truly respect the amount of damage a vehicle can do and how fast it can do it....
This is extremely sad to hear about. My condolences to the families and friends of those affected by this tragic incident. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
If this was a Chevy Impala, there would be no mention of the manufacturer of the car, yet just about any car can go this fast and be driven just as recklessly
Michael went to my school, he was in a grade below me at the time. We never really talked but he was a sweet kid, very quiet. This makes me very sad tbh and I can’t imagine what his family is going through or the other families. My condolences🙏🏾
Hard to believe a chap with Eagle Scout credentials would put himself in the BACK SEAT of a Tesla driven by someone with such irresponsible driving decisions. I don’t care to ride with anyone these days. Thankfully I may never have to again.
Remember that the mentality and maturity involved here is the same that leads people to occupy colleges and block bridges when they cannot explain how it will change something happening on the other side of the world or even honestly define the situation over there.
Ok so am I supposed to feel sorry for these young idiots? I mean I thought the car just lost control here! Then the news goes on to say alcohol was most likely involved and they were speeding!?😒 sorry young or not can't feel sorry for people who put themselves in situations such as this! I'm sure most people feel the same as I.
There are places in my town where literally everybody drives double the posted speed limit. I have emailed the city council and mayor asking them to have cops start writing tickets or raise the speed limit, but of course I have received zero replies.
People from the north have moved to my city in the south, and they speed like crazy, causing endless wrecks. I can't even get groceries without being in near wrecks, they want so badly to ALWAYS have right-of-way no matter what!
It was the fricking monitor. Kid could not watch the touchscreen, navigate the mind bogglingness of menus, party harty, and drive safely. Those monitors make new cars and their drivers absolute MENACES to everyone else, and apparently, power poles and innocent buildings that do nothing wrong but exist. I see commenters expressing condolences, good.
@@roachtoasties because I actually live here and constantly see all this nonsense? How is that picking on a state I live in for pointing out the facts. Why are you offended for a state that isn’t your own? Sounds like you don’t even live in Texas
@@roachtoasties I live in LA and I’ve lived in Houston before. LA is more densely populated. We have 10X the population per square mile than almost any other state besides New York. We have wayyyyyy more accidents. It’s JUST FACTS.
My condolences to their families and friends. The only place speeding gets you to faster is the grave. I wish people would realize this. God bless, stay safe.
@@rickcrammond2617 I don’t live in a particularly big city and we get teens drinking, speeding, crashing and dying a couple times a year. I’m still not sure why this needs to be a national story.
About the biggest mistake one can make when getting into a vehicle. Plus getting into a vehicle under the influence is pretty much suicide and manslaughter. This is why schools started doing the program every 15 minutes. My HS was the first. Sadly these accidents are still much too common.
I taught my daughter to drive her own car and not trust other kids driving my daughter was only allowed to have 1 friend in the front and 1 in the back she mostly had 1 friend condolences to the ones that didn’t make it and hopefully the ones that made it the parents will keep tabs of where and who their kids are with 🌷
3 people dead. That’s just over a minute in world wide traffic fatalities which on average is one every 26 seconds or around 1.3 million deaths a year on the roads. Sobering statistics
Are we using name of car companies to identify human accidents now? Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, Mazda, Honda, Kia, Audi.......just change out Tesla for applicable car manufacturer?
What the hell is wrong with people. The car for a 16-year-old is a base level Toyota Corrola. Or base level Honda Civic. Nothing more than 150 horsepower. And a speed limiter for no more than 65 miles per hour.
