Building the Penny Stove is a great survival project. If your main stove is lost or damaged, you can build one with trash resources. On a lightweight fly-in trip, I'll use a penny stove and recycle it after the trip to save space. In an Urban Survival situation when stealth is important, the penny stove stove is silent and has no smoke or odor.
