Here I talk about the Survival Genre, one that is popular but also one that people have their gripes with. It's a genre built around a sandbox experience of player freedom, exploration and immersion. More hardcore experiences like SCUM, DayZ and Rust can make for unforgiving experiences, but there are reasons why so many people play them beyond the loot. As for other single player survival games, the reasons are also similar. There is something for everyone in this genre. You just have the right gateway game to win you over.

As a young kid I was always outside building forts and catching crawdads and fish with my hands. My dad taught me a lot about the outdoors but I also spent half my time playing video games inside my room. So survival games are literally my top favorite genre among games. Looting and zombies are probably number 1. I'm not a big fan of PvP just because I like having a goal or objective that's not interrupted by other people. Growing up I also watched movies and shows like Jeremiah Johnson and Survivorman. I can't wait to see all of the next and new survival games coming out 2024 - 2025.

I love a good video essay and stumbling across this in my recommended was a real treat. I've been playing survival games since the Arma 2 DayZ mod dropped and I can say that before that I played games like Fifa and Call Of Duty pretty care free as that "Escape" but it was only in the survival games genre where I found games that I love. Going from Aram 2 DayZ to failed titles like Reign Of Kings all the way to sinking 4k hours in Rust I honestly believe I tried probably over 80% of survival games of the marketplace. Hearing your explanation of why this genre of games are so different and unique was as I said, a real treat. So please do continue because this is a not only a video topic I enjoy but I'm sure many others will as well.
