I love that “clam shell” design for a small personal sewing kit. I am looking at mine right now.. and throughout the years I have accumulated a few Odds and ends that aren’t standard. I have a nice Magnet on a lanyard. It helps hold needles like a pin cusion. The magnet is also on a lanyard so if needed you can drop the magnet with the string and “grab” something metal that is dropped. I have a thimble over the top of it. I carry a P38 can opener ( for using to get a spark or opening canned food) and a tiny little 1/8” diameter ferro rod. A razor blade. Small folding scissors. Little tube of super glue (medical or gear repair) and a piece of the “glue gun sticks” which can be melted with a lighter and used to “glue things”. I like dental floss for my “main thread” it’s multifunctional and makes a great sewing line since it’s waxed. Plus heavy enough test for light fishing. I also keep two small hooks. I use a pair of squishy ear plugs for sticking needles into. The ear plugs can plug ears, they make a good bopper for fishing. if you take a needle and run the floss to them, plus a good “pin cusion” to stick needles into for transport. A few small safety pins. A military button. Little polyester thread of different colors for sewing up civilian clothing. I also have a few needles of various sizes (pre threaded) plus some spider wire braided line. It’s excellent strong stuff for all sorts of stuff. Oh and lastly I took some nylon “chaulk line” that is hot pink and took a ruler and made “ticks” at 1 inch increments all the way out to 12”. It serves as a rudimentary ruler that you can ball up to the size of a marble. For sewing things or just measuring whatever… it’s handy and takes up almost no room. Great video. Sewing/ gear repair. is one of those things that people don’t really consider. Hope I might have given some ideas for people. Nice video.

I agree, this is a skill lost on a society of people living a disposable life style. I always do Gear Repair while i am watching these videos so I can maximize the amount of time i have in a day. Wasting time just sitting watching videos is plain dumb. This was an AWSOME video. Great job.

Sorry for the late reply, Agreed... It is a lost skill. And also I agree not sitting around watching video's all day, however... I use RU-vid for a ton of tasks and knowledge, I just wish it was owned my Elon Musk... LOL Not freaking google...

Excellent video! Like someone previously mentioned, there is a difference in Sweden and Switzerland. Well thought out kit , but I don't see a need for the bullet plastic worm weights. Great video !

Just a correction, Swiss card, not a Swedish card. Great idea to add a fishing kit to your sewing kit. I used a lot of your ideas in my Bug out bag contents. Thanks

since you are already carrying thread in your kit I wanted to mention you should reconsider using fishing line as repair material for your gear, at least until a last resort. Fishing line is too strong for thread and will actually start to cut through the gear you patched. I used to use fishing line as patch thread too but stopped when my gear started wearing prematurely. I didn't completely ruin anything but checked my stitching when a seamstress friend cautioned me after we were talking about my field repairs. The fabric definitely wasn't in as good of shape at the fishing line stitching compared to the traditional thread sections. a high quality thread like you are carrying is strong enough for all gear tasks.

Thank you my friend, I have done several repairs and have noticed it is stronger, but haven't had any troubles. I will have to look into this and see what I can find. It does make sense for sure and thanks you for bringing it to my attention!!
