This is Space Engineers survival in hard mode, using some custom mods made by me and a collection of others from the awesome SE community this scenario should push my engineering skills to the limit while also creating opportunities for some really unique design solutions.
I've published the scenario to the workshop for you to 'enjoy' - good luck!

Suggestion for the Remora: If you're serious about it being anything except a surface-to-asteroid shuttle, make the atmospheric engines permanent. They'll save lots of H2 for the descent. They'd probably be better than the 'chutes for landing and terminal manoeuvres. Poster suggestion - the bit of falling drill greeble with the text: "Do you know the litterbug responsible? Reward on offer for serious information!"

Useful note: Transparent LCD's are airtight. Maybe the drill statistics on one of the LCDs, and docking clamp status so if the Remora or whatever it's successor becomes, is docked you'd be able to know at a glance.

An arbaritum space wouldn't be out of place for a space station, that whole photosynthesis thing they do helping CO2 scrubbing, i know it doesn't matter in SE but you do like making things for no other reason then it making sense to have it irl.

@BrackynMor I would assume there would be some shielding and the station doesn't move to track the sun. Only the solar array.

4:56 in the SotF Release Stream they mentioned, that the vast majority of blocks is designed with exactly that in mind. They try to achieve a usage for both the finished and the not finished block. Also they use unwelded/half-finished blocks for style in prettu much every official build (SOTF Station, faction stations, ships you can buy from factions,...)

Splitsie what you could do for aiming the drill is use the interior lights u placed as some sort of "iron sight (😂)" because they go down at the center of rotation. would make alignment much easier

some ideas: - can the escape pods have a remote control so they can follow some predefined escape trajectory with the way point system so the person in it does not have to be a pilot since (roleplay) there will be none-pilots on the station? - launch the pods with an arm to stick to the theme :P text for one of the screens: X amount of days since the last accident (but it would be a pain to keep that updated sadly..) so maybe change it to: X amount of accidents since the last arrival and update it every time you take a tick of damage from slamming into things, or from forgetting to close helmet.

Absolute love your timelapse's, such a great way to end a video. You seem to have a magical ability to keep your character in frame will all the camera movement, such as the dolly at the end with you doing all your interior decorating. That seemed like a shot that would have taken many takes to get right.

"Weld Welders, not Guns" 31:55 -That is some quality editing there, one moment you're chasing a block and the next you transition to state where it's all welded already and you're like "huh, that was actually a fluid transition!" 40:42 - There's an unwelded armour block on the solar panel array

There is one I know of but it has a set shared framerate between all cameras, to avoid taxing gameplay too much. Also not sure if it still works or not.

dont need a script just cameras and monitors ... you select what the monitor views ... BUT what it runs must be able to be converted IN GAME to be a live video feed and not a recorded one ... i have seen a few cameras that appear to have a live feed BUT not sure if they were ... so it may be possible ..

There was a working LCD Camera script before, but an Update reducing sprites completely broke it and any other similar Scripts. Only way are mods, there are a few that work quite well

Some interior decorating thoughts: Instead of the lockers to create to separate the lab area, I like using the solid walkways to create walls, which should prevent that overhang you were complaining about. Also, I like using the wood texture on living areas; it doesn’t seem too overwhelming, even on the chairs. That’s *my* opinion, anyway (and if you disagree, painting doesn’t cost resources, so you can change it back with no problems). As for using plants, my view, RP-wise, is that those plants are part of the oxygen-generation system. Not to mention that there is a perfectly good reason businesses like having plants in work areas: they make your employees happy, and a happy employee is a productive employee.

I would love an lcd over the interior door that says "WARING: DEPRESSURIZED" if the area behind it has no oxygen, because then you wouldn't open the door and lose all your precious air

A perfect excuse for adding Planters everywhere is that in reality they would function similarly to the SE oxygen farms, as in Producing Oxygen through photosynthesis.

I feel like they wouldn't produce enough oxygen to be worth using precious water on while in space lol. Also in the event of an accidental depressurization (like in the Martian) they would probably all die immediately

You need to place remote cameras all around the various bits of your base for remote viewing from the control tower. Cameras should be around everything with a rotor or hinge so that it's positioning can be monitored.

Suggestion for the ladder covering in the control tower: Sideways passage with a grated catwalk end on top. Gives you protection from falling into the ladder hole and if you place a staircase going up to it, you can have an elevated viewing platform like what you were describing. Just an Idea :) Love the videos, keep up the great content!!

Worked in a power plant for many years - at one point the company ran a ‘come up with a safety slogan’ contest. The one we found funniest was “Don’t pee on 4kV”. It didn’t win but has been a popular inside joke for 30 years! Also, better control console selection in Kolt Command Console mod.

For your viewing platform in the control tower you could put windows on the three sides (where the hand rails are) with a 9 square grid mesh viewing platform centered on the access shaft.

You could set the antenna rotors on timer blocks so it swivels back and forth like it's scanning. Also, that transition in today's timelapse was AMAZING!

I'm a tower controller myself and we do have so kind of coffee table with juice, sodas and snacks up in the tower and it would look more realistic to have no lcd in the way of your desk and outside, the clearer the view the better. 😊😊😊

Could you do Hydrogen Resupply runs from the planet to the Lawn-Chair, use remote control block and Autopilot to get it up and back down? Just a mass of hydrogen tanks and fixed boosters. Maybe build the launch pad on the Ice so don't even need to transport it round the planet? Also now you have the remote outpost, your ship to space only really needs to be a shuttle, leave the Remora behind in space, get home using the Catapult :). Could even make the shuttle use autopilot so you don't need to do anything to get up there. Could always build another one and use it as the escape pod, also with autopilot, you know, case Capac comes...

You could put a large to small ship rotor system for an unobtrusive small ship flood light for your antenna dish, maybe a flashing red color. You could also probably move the mining arm to another asteroid instead of just deconstructing it. "Check your fuel before flight or you'll be 'heading home' tonight." "Careful grinding prevents planetary debris."

Suggestion for the control room....Lower the blocks on the outside (or at the least overlooking the factory) or raise the blocks around the ladder. Give that NASA control room look. You could add another row of LCD if you lower the outer ring.

Two ideas: The area behind the TV/Stares could be an air lock dropping into an escape pod that might also have an air lock and external access. I think there is a mod (don't know about performance) that lets you put cameras on the LCDs, you could use the button array as a sort of security camera screen. Maybe one on the drill pistons set back from the head a bit. A drill a day keeps the vacuum away!

LCD Recomendation. Gett some inspiration from the falout posters and the signs withinn the "Portal" facillitys. Also... place a sensor with a script that may trigger one of the LCD's to flash a "I can't let you doo that" or something similarly menecing from Hall.

An idea about painting buildings like this: make things like doors in a different shade of the wall colour, ideally a bit darker. In this case it would be grey, for example. That way you stay with a theme, but still create some variety. Also, wherever possible, have a different colour on the floor. It doesn't have to be the whole floor, and in places where painting the floor block would paint the outside of a building you could of course use catwalk pieces and paint them. Lastly, paint the decorative storage crates in different colours. Make it the darker options = dark green, grey etc. That will create diversity, but the colours will be less vibrant = will "fade" into the background a bit.

I would kind of like to see a telescoping piston with a merge blocked escape pod on the end. Head down a corridor full of flashing red lights to a little porthole. Hop in and hit the button. Watch as you are pushed away from the base before it releases you into a freefall :)

For your escape pod area you need a drop pod shell. A few lcd with blueprints for modding/hot rodding pods for local environments etc. Make it look like pet project of the motorpool chief.

Poster Idea: Picture of a Space Engineer and the words. "Interstellar Space Mining" at the top and "Join Now!" at the bottom. You could go with a variant of this with "We want you! at the top and "For interstellar Mining!" at the bottom.
