a great camp.. perfect timing with the moon providing light. loved your night time long exposure photography and success with the feather-sticking fire lighting! you definitely need a sit pad you'll wonder what you did without one and maybe a powerbank to cut down on all those batteries you take (and if you sleep with it the power won't drain soo quickly). a great watch and look forward to the next.

In order to effectively sleep you have to raise your body temperature by one degree and the same when you awake, so yes it will always feel colder when you wake up first thing in the morning. I always used to have tea making right next to me in readiness first thing a nice cuppa without getting out of the nice warm bag.

Nice vid fella. I watch a lot of the Canadian guys who make it look a doddle. Would really like to have a crack, unfortunately I live in the south east and worst weather we mostly get is a frost on the motor in the morning. It's good to see someone in England doing it, keep it up fella 👍

I live in China and have gotten all my bushcraft stuff here. Just do watch out for cheap, sub-standard fake stuff here. It's hard to tell the difference until you need it and it lets you down.

Hi Jack . Caught you on MCQ's "expecting" announcement video . So thought I'd hop over and catch this one of yours to see what you're all about . Great video in an area close-ish to me . I shall have to try wild camping on Whin hill now . Excellent videography BTW . Stunning visuals with the drone too . I also found your comments on cost effective kit interesting . I too don't care for "names" only the function to price performance ratio . Even if it means buying twice after buying cheap . If you don't try you'll never know . What works for one may not work for another and vice versa . I would be extremely interested in a review of the "Chinese down bag" if you could squeeze it in somewhere please ? Or more precisely a review of all the budget performance gear that you use , with the advantages and or disadvantages you find over the more expensive equivalent kit you may have tried . For now I'd settle for a link to the chinese bag please if you have one ? I've seen them on eBay already but daren't take the plunge just in case I get a nylon carrier bag as opposed to a 4 season "down filled" bag rated down to -10 degrees C . The only one that appeared it could was out of stock . I'm thinking that it may have been able to ship due to it being out of stock ??? Nice adventure! Beautiful scenery! Was this your first snow trip? I only ask because there were a few things that stood out to me. 1- Your cowboy hat is cool, but I dont think it really provides much warmth. A shemagh, balaclava, wool hat, or hoodie would have provided just as much snow protection and much more warmth. 2- If there is snow I am bringing synthetic ski pants. Make them extra baggy and it will be warmer and more breathable. 3- Is -5c considered cold in the UK? I only ask because many Northern Americans and our Canadian neighbors would take -5C any day. Compared to our -25 C days.

Great video, and brilliant to share the lessons you learned. I'm a big fan of Chinese gear too, but draw the line at down clothing. Their practices for harvesting down is barbaric. It may be cheaper but there is a pretty unsavoury reason for it.

Argh you ve discovered aliexpress. Look at fastech too but it's not as cheap but good for knives. I have the alpkit titanium pots and the BRS stove with the canister stand for the C100 can. It's a great cook kit. Thrifty

Great vid. Keep up the works. Only thing, just because it's half price in China, doesn't mean you're getting the same thing at half the price. Don't get me wrong. I buy many goods from China, but I do draw the line with anything that I cook with. (I definitely never get food or herbs from there, EVER!). There is absolutely no regulation, so I would rather not take chances on anything I eat or cook with. Cheers.

They will probably be £10 sleeping bags that didn't keep the user warm so they dumped them instead of carrying them back to lighten their load. Least they could have done is bury them so they are out of sight. Or even better, dont buy shite equipment, then you can use it over and over again.

i love how unpretentious this is, the down to earth and chatty vibes make it very watchable. i personally think it'd be better without the music inbetween shots as the sounds of nature, walking, sawing e.t.c would be nice to hear :')

Afraid not for that price. I shoot on the Sony a7s2. You could look at Panasonic gh4 or gh5 second hand, they are good cameras aswell but not full 35mm frame.
