You should keep your batteries around 60% if you aren't going to be using them at least semi-regularly. You also should run them to 0% and charge them back up to 100% every three months in order to maintain the battery longer. Ecoflow states that if the battery isn't discharged to 0% and recharged to 100% every 6 months that it voids your warranty (it's in the manual).

Following Beryl I did buy the Delta 3 Pro and an extra battery for it. I’m on a well. I will be installing a transfer switch. My Delta Pro ran my refrigerator and freezer for over 24 hours during Beryl alternating every 4 hours. I also ran microwave during that time frame several times. Can’t help you with the generator as I run mine off of a small tank. I did not use it during Beryl as I recharged from the generator at my neighbors (it was actually my big generator, DuraMax Duel fuel 13000 Watt, as his generator wouldn’t start). I have a portable AC unit that I use for my dogs. I get by with fans. I love my EcoFlows. For an old lady I can put them where I need them!

If you go from a larger tank than what your generator is set up for you will need to have two regulators for it. One on the large tank to regulate it down to the first regulator and then the regulator that came with it. I had this problem with my generator. Its made to run on a 20lbs tank but i put it on an 100lbs tank. It would'nt run so I went to the propane place where I bought the tank and they told me what i needed and fixed me up with correct hose and the second regulator.
@DustySplinters

Simple fix... ask you plumber or the propane supplier to install a BBQ supply line from the main tank with a regulator to be suitable for grills.

You should look at installing a soft start for your AC unit, especially if you need to run it off of a generator. They’re not that expensive and pretty easy to install and they can actually extend the life of your AC unit. Just make sure you choose the right one for the size of your unit. If you get another EcoFlow Delta Pro along with the double voltage hub you can combine it with your existing one to run 240 volts off of them and your inverter capability doubles to 7200 watts.
@BIGALTX

Thanks. I’ve been researching soft start kits. It’s probably what I’ll do depending on what Gen I buy.

Thanks for the tip and your videos. I watched Matt Risinger talk about the Champion whole house generator in these two videos. I did purchase one the 14KW, and they now make a larger unit also 22KW . It ran from about 2000 hours until 0330 this morning from hurricane Francis. These units have a 10 year warranty which caught my eye. Good video! My propane accessory line was originally configured for a grill. When I said the line couldn't run my generator, my Big Buddy heater, or my forge, the technician said I needed higher pressure for those appliances. He installed a second auxiliary propane outlet with a less restrictive regulator -- one that approximates the pressure of a 20 lb tank. Now I have one for the grill and one for the generator and other higher-pressure appliances. The tech was a little nervous about giving me the higher-pressure outlet until he quizzed me on some safety issues, understandably.
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 19 дней назад
Good stuff! I’ll ask my Propane guy about that, and show him your comment. 👍🏻😎
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 15 дней назад
@actodesco Sounds about the same as mine. There is a regulator AT the tank (in the ground) and the line runs about 30 feet. They said it is high pressure. Then, there is a regulator tapped into that line that runs into my house to the appliances. The high pressure line continues to the generator taps. It's just confusing to me... the HP line should run this small gen with no problems. It runs a much larger gen with no problems. Frustrating. The only thing YOU need to do is install a "Soft Start" on your A/C. It reduces the amp draw to about 25% of normal. Your gen should run it just fine with a soft start. I've done a lot of research on the soft start. THIS is supposed to be one of the better ones: amzn.to/3Zt8iWy LOTS of videos on YT as to how to install. The link above is my Amazon Associate Link. Have you considered just running 1 or 2 either window or portable AC units instead of trying to run your central AC? You may want to call Eco Flo to see if they could sell you a hose without a regulator so you can hook up to the propane line that's already regulated.

Hey Ya'll. I'm a 51 y.o. in MN. And to think Abraham Lincoln studied his books by candlelight! I have a similar problem, the Propane company can't fill up my 90 lb tanks with their trucks, because they don't have the fitting. We're experiencing problems with tank rental fees here, 190 bucks/year if you don't fill 75% per year. My neighbor talked to the guy and [the guy] said, 'Larry you wouldn't believe how many people have told me, Come pick up your tank'. I paid it. I need to use it more (through wall heaters from Fleet Farm). Plus Propane is like double cost. Your videos are always interesting Allen!

To run your AC on any generator, you should consider a soft start by micro air. I have a 14Kw General that is my primary and it will not run a 4 ton 16 Seer air conditioner without having the soft start. With the soft start, my Backup Firman trifuel portable generator will run the system. I personally would sell the small eco flow inverter generator and just get a standard “dirty” generator since you will be charging the eco flows at a high rate and then running off the battery. The eco flows will clean the “dirty/noisy” power and there is no reason to filter it twice. Depending on you well pump and your AC size, you should be able to run off a 12Kw generator easily.
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 2 дня назад
Yes, I have been looking at a soft start for my AC, and will probably install one before next summer. I’m really surprised a 14,000 KW will not run your 4 ton air conditioner. Wow… You shared a lot of good info. I appreciate it!

One thing with the DUAL FUEL is the propane doesn't have ANY lubricants in it. The cylinder is going to wear out FASTER with LP. Use your LP only as a backup. For your problem, sounds like you need a DIFFERENT LP provider, one who might supply a HIGHER pressured regulator!!?? Low frequency units are your best bet. I have 2 3000w Titan solar generators (low frequency) units and 10kwh in battery. 5kw in grid tied solar on my roof, a 5500w continuous gas generator. I connect to my house through the 50amp dryer plug, from my Titan, or my gas generator. Self made Tt-30p to 50amp dryer cord. ( suicide cord ) double male end cord, is it idiot proof, no, if you can turn a main breaker off, and have enough sense not to touch the the prongs on a cable, your not an idiot. As far as grid tied system goes, I love my Enphase system, and in a grid down it can always be wired as a dc system, each of my Titans have 2 mppt controllers, 2000w solar input each. My only wish is I had there new Titan 240v 4000w SP unit. There units have been #1 for years, and the new 1s are even better. Will Prouse, solar guru, said it's almost impossible to diy your own with the quality parts needed to build this unit any cheaper than they sell for, and no they are not cheap.

As you know, the problem with trying to run an AC unit of any size is the amps needed to start the compressor. I have a 2-ton Trane and it drew 69 amps for a few seconds each time it kicked on and then settled down to a little over 9 amps. I added a Micro-Air SoftSart module and now initial in-rush current never goes over 29 amps. It brings your AC unit up in stages over a out 15-30 seconds starting with turning on the fan and makes running a AC unit with generator feasible. I can run my AC and much more with my very old Troy Built 5550 watt gas generator easily. I recently purchased an Anker F3800 Power Station. It's 3860whrs. 6000w. I plugged it into my generator plug on my house main panel, engaged my panel utility power lock-out and was able to run the AC and some select circuits in my house including 2 refrigerators. On hot days, the power station won't last long but I think I will be run the AC long enough to cool the house then shut it off for a of hours. I'm now looking into charging the Power Station with a AC to DC power supply hooked into the PV inputs and powered by my generator. The goal is to slow the rate of discharge on the Power Station and not have to switch from the power station to gas generator in order to recharge the Power Station. It's going to be a fun experiment. Good luck with your project.
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 15 дней назад
Wow..! So the 3800w Anker actually runs the AC with the soft start? That's amazing. Also great that the 5500w gen runs it too. I've been looking at the soft start units, and will be getting one when I settle on a gen that is big enough to run my 3 ton Trane heat pump. Thanks for the comment... very informative! alan BTW.. I retired from Trane. Helped build millions of units... maybe yours! 👍😎

I have a champion 15000 watt Tri fuel generator, and absolutely love their online customer service. This thing is a straight beast with a 717cc V-Twin Milwaukee engine. I’m looking to get a smaller generator so my little 20gallon propane tanks will last a lil longer while powering up my anker f3800’s. When I was shopping around for a generator I looked at Westinghouse as well (because they make generators that basically power the U.S. and has a history dating back to the 1800’s for different innovations including worlds first in generator technology. Eventually went with the champion of course mainly for their lifetime customer support, which is super fast online if you can’t reach anyone quick enough by phone. Might end up getting a smaller Westinghouse though, just to have the best of both worlds.

I personally have the Bluetti AC300 with batteries and it works perfectly for my 3 freezers, refrigerator, Wi-Fi and TV. It worked great when I was out of power for 7 days due to the wildfires we had. All though it doesn’t not power my water well and central air. But I have a 45 KVA Diesel generator for when I need my water well or central air and charge my batteries. Thought about Solor but I just got too many trees. I wouldn’t get a bigger generator just for your central air, just install a mini split in your living room and use your smaller generator to run it. No need to cool the whole house. Just my opinion. Maybe you should just try to tie in to your propane before your your regulator and just use the one regulator on your Eco flow hose.

We recently installed a Kohler 38KW whole house generator that will easily run everthing. Since it is liquid cooled and 1800 rpm, it is very quiet. The sound from the 3 electric fans is how we know it's running.

Wow… 1800 rpm. Didn’t even know they made them. Is it good on fuel?

You mentioned a tri-fuel generator... a friend of mine and myself have the Firman 9500 watt from Costco and have been very happy with it. Just another one for you to research. Good luck

I think that’s the same one my son-in-law has. He had a problem getting it to run on natural gas. It ran on propane and gasoline, but just wouldn’t run on natural gas. I’m not sure if he solved that problem or not.
@drummerdude0314
@drummerdude0314 18 дней назад
If you buy tri fuel make sure you know the rating on natural gas made the mistake the hard way. Purchased 10kw generator. That is running on gasoline not natural gas...
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 18 дней назад
Sure… Natural gas and propane are always less kilowatts than gasoline. Definitely have to take that into consideration.

Sound like you need to check the water column on that regulator for the EGO Flow propane system. You could read up on how RV propane works. Or even fine a RV dealer or a friend that can help to checkout the water column to the EGO flow this is done with a Manometer. regulators do go bad and can be tested.

Actually, I have two hoses just like that. Both of them do the same thing. But yes, I think it’s a simple problem, if I can find someone to figure it out. I never thought of checking with an RV place. Thanks for the tip.

I have a Westinghouse wpro 8500 running watts with 11500 surge watts 50 amps I got it after the big freeze in 2020 I live in central Texas I bought the Westinghouse because of the low thd or total harmonic displacement and the long run time on a tank of gas mine is gasoline only if I have to get another generator I will definitely buy a Westinghouse and I have the interlock switch also I have had to use it several times since I purchased the generator couple for storms one time it was because somebody was plowing a field and pulled down couple of power poles we were out of power for over 14 hours Yes we need to be prepared for anything that can cause a power outage

Great video. If you have a second smaller unit, but is large enough to run fridge/freezer, go ahead and plug it in and then into wall. Pass through charge will let freezer run while keeping batteries harged. That way if away from home and power fails, freezer will run off battery until u get back. Cheers.

Add a valve between the spigot and the pressure EcoFlow regulator hose. Open it slowly so the pressure builds gradually and not trip the overpressure safety in the regulator. If the safety trips it will still allow propane flow but at a reduced pressure. Same process when connected to a portable tank.

Great setup I have a Generac 8000 to run our house and 2 smaller jackerys to run a light and tv at night so we don't have to run the generator at night. Try turning your propane line from the tank when you plug is in very slow I new someone who had a generator that had the same problem it solved his problem it was locking the fuel down he had called the company that made the generator.

question the equal flows that are just your electric generators don't they have a wall plug on them can't you plug them into the front of the machine and run a loop to charge them
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 18 дней назад
Yes, you can charge them from the wall, if that’s what you’re asking. If the power is out, then you have to charge from solar or generator.

Install a soft start appliance on your a/c to decrease the inrush of power needed to start a/c. It may allow you to use your generator to run a/c...
@BIGALTX

I’ve been looking at a soft start kit. I will probably install one. However, that generator is not big enough to push the AC even with the soft start kit.

Thumbs up for honesty 👍, nobody says how they charge these things in a multiple day outage, advice on your propane hose problem, use Ecoflow generator as intended, hoses are not safe, only running pipe is safe, metal hoses are the way to go, here hoses are illegal.
@BIGALTX

That’s true… Most folks make it seem like they will just go on forever and ever. Not true. They have to be charged in some manner.

@BIGALTX A neighbor has one, during the aftermath of Ernesto ,he ran the generator most of the time, with enough solar panels, they could be charged in about 4 hours, that makes it a lot better.

Great tour video. I like dual fuel generators. I have that Wen 4750 that you have. I prefer propane over gas even though you get less BTU's. The less generator maintenance with the cleaner propane makes it well worth it to me. Also propane stores virtually forever. I have some boxes but I also built some systems with individual components. One advantage is if a component fails you can replace it. A complete system for me are solar panels, charge controllers, battery storage and a generator for longer outages. My main load is the fridge and freezers, lights, a driveway alarm and communications. I don't expect to run the AC and will fall back of ceiling fans. Plus a wood stove (short season). I can run the microwave to heat food and have a backup propane stove and the BBQ. On the refrigeration, don't learn the hard way and find out your freezer shutdown two days ago. Been there done that. Get a monitoring unit for each appliance. They work on wifi and are reasonable compared to $1000 worth of beef. We have an AcuRrite brand unit. Comes as a pair (two transmitters and one receiver) on amazon for about 42 bucks. Monitors fully adjustable temperature levels to let you know if your appliance stopped working. My last comment is that IMO, if we have some serious grid issues this backup power equipment will get really scarce real fast. if you're not set up with some kind of backup power by now it's time to get going while you still can.
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 20 дней назад
You have a great set up, congratulations. 👍🏻 😀 That WEN generator is very good. Surprisingly, considering it’s not very expensive. And yes, the refrigerator monitor you have is a great addition. It lets you know what’s going on inside of it. Keep up the good work!
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 20 дней назад
And yes, things will get very scarce, very quickly when everybody wants one. I don’t plan to ever put gasoline in my EcoFlow generator. Gasoline just craps out the carburetor. Today’s gasoline is bunk. Even though I have access to ethanol free locally, I still don’t trust it.

Battery backup with a gas generator is the way to go imo. Spend a couple hours each day charging it and you're set. I plan on getting a 20ish kwh battery set up one these days. Run the electric main or backup generator to it before out to the house. Solar too eventually but that's icing on the cake. It's getting pretty cheap too if diy with an electrician coming in to inspect and make final connections.
