Really great stuff, it's why I love the ECW server so much! These moments are where you can let your aircraft shine, and a lot of sorties are just like that. You have a plan, you miss, you get jumped on by other players, and you get the hell out.
Loved it! Huge fan of the a-4 and your editing was amazing. Did you add sound effects for the bullets barely missing you on your dive? It sounded really good. Would love to see more like this!!!
@@SportDCS Do you use VR or track IR? Do you record while you fly or go back and use the tracks? Obviously for external views you use the tracks but how about in the the cockpit?
@@WanganuiWildcat so I record live for the in-cockpit stuff. So you can hear anything I’m saying in real time as well as other player comms. I use Track IR for everything, too. Internal and external recordings. It gives a very good authentic feel to framing
Try to hit the AA first (to make follow up attacks easier) and save the barracks for last. The barracks are there to help others spot the ground targets more easily. If you kill them first, you are making it more difficult to spot for yourself and for others.
Great point! However, I found I rather get the Mk83s off the airplane first and get that instant performance boost. The Shilkas don’t scare me too much, and I try to limit my time in their engagement envelope when I’m on my runs.
awesome video, handy tip your doppler radar tells you the wind directio and speed, plus the drift angle is the angle you need to offset for the wind, also the ejection velocity should be accounted for in the bombing computer, plus the wing pylons will also eject the bombs
So I should have clarified more. The TERs add a horizontal component of velocity when they eject the bombs, it’s not straight down like if it’s just a single bomb on a pylon. Both bombs were dead nuts on for distance, but both landed nearly an equal distance laterally, which correlated with the side of the TER they were ejected from.
I KNOW THAT HIGHWAY BUILDING!! First time I played Enigma's on Syria as Red I went to one of the map markers and found a friggin building just sitting in the middle of the friggin highway lmao.. I was in a MiG-19 though so I only had 2 teeny bombs, still managed to kill one of the vehicles that sits next to it though. It was so weird and surprising seeing that for the first time though. Enemy placement is so weird in most servers.
Hello, sports are you planning to make a video about how not to die on Enigma's Cold War as an A-4? I'm asking you this because I got murked by a MiG-21 10 minutes ago.
Never thought the TER's added such a big inaccuracy to the drops! It's clearly visible how much the bomb yaws to the right at about the 5:18 mark. Very cool for it to be modeled in DCS, I recall hearing Gabbie on 10 Percent True talk about how he would account for that when dropping BDU-33's on training sorties. Always learning new stuff in this channel, keep it up!
I looked it up, and it’s 4.8 ft/sec ejection velocity. From 3000 feet, the bomb falls for about 6 seconds, so you’re talking 20-25 feet of error you need to account for. I bet if I go back and look at the track again, the distance I missed will be close to that!
This video was so good that I just dropped a subscribe! Watching, first, the F-86 come out of no where and finish off the Froggie and THEN see that beautiful F-5 engage that F-1 was awesome! I look forward to more videos like this!
Youre the one who makes me train that Scooter to - one day - join the ECW! Ty for the content! o7 Alsom would LOVE to see high drag strike on a convoy \ base\ ship. * w *
Bro that 86 really gonna come in and steal the kill like that. What an absolute dick. I hate people like that. and where is he to help with the Mirage?... Oh yeah, you didn't hit it with a missile or damage it first. He only wants to swoop in when the fight is already won.
I'd like to share what load-out works for me and may for you as well. I got this from another youtuber I can't remember his name. 2 x 1000 lbs Mk.83 on center fuselage pylon and 4 x AIM 9P on the wing pylons. Why? I set ripple timer to 250 ms and use ground radar + computer to drop on ECW bases. This way I get to drop 2 potent bombs on a base ensuring some destruction and then I quickly disengage and proceed to air to air or rearm, depends on situation. For some reason I do better a2a in A-4 than in F-5. The reason why this works for me is that if I spend too much time on multiple passes on one base, being focused just on ground, losing SA, I became sitting duck for enemies. Now I just make one drop and disappear and go hunt Fishbeds or Frogfoots. A-4 is so nimble and can maintain energy so well that I can easily reverse most of red force planes, pull them into the HUD and get a sidewinder off the rails. Although be aware that you have way less trust than any other red force plane so you can't do that forever.
Terrific video, great flying and very well done. Was thinking in the prologue that the Mig-21 actually accomplished his mission in that the A-4 had to jettison its weapons and abort its attack. Although I'm guessing getting killed wasn't part of the plan. Love to see more.
I’m not sure of any bugs, but that’s how I move the camera around personally. Maybe something has changed in the last open beta? I’ll give a look sometime soon
That was the fastest 10min of my life !! Nice one. I would like to ask you to do a video on the graphics setup so i can see another plane like you can. Thx
Spotting is TOUGH, but then again it is in real life too. I play on a 1440p (2k) 27” monitor. Most of my settings are all high or ultra and on ECW I’m getting 40-80fps.
An interesting tidbit about US Navy A-4s is that most were actually not capable of employing the AIM-9. This excludes the USMC and foreign sales A-4s of course. The only USN A-4 squadron capable of firing Sidewinders was VC-10 based at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The last variant they flew was the TA-4J from 1975 until the unit disbanded in 1993. The sole reason they could carry the AIM-9 was in the unlikely event that Cuban forces attacked the base. The A-4s would be a stopgap until reinforcements and better suited aircraft arrived. Great video and thanks for posting.
Started flying the A4E today and your tutorials have brought me up to speed in no time great content! keep it up... by the way from 8:20 I was on the edge of my seat very cinematic!
good editing, would love to see that landing tutorial as everyone else who attempted to show that off smash a4 into the ground rather than land properly ;)
Something quite ugly and at the same time cute about the A4. That and the F5, MiG19 and the forthcoming F4 Phantom might drag me away from IL2 and back to DCS. Not that there is anything wrong with DCS, but my rig doesn't like it. But it really pops with IL2 GB.
