I went up into Nugget creek in the 60's with my Father and brother, In the 70's my best buddy and I made a few trips up there and stayed in that cabin. The stove has been upgraded but its still the same old wonderful cabin. My Buddy, Father and Brother are all gone now but watching this video brought back a ton of great memories. Thank you for sharing this.

SETTING - TAVERN, EVENING There's a small gathering of people sitting around a table, listening to a harrowing tale of wilderness from Truck Life. As he finishes his tale there is a brief pause that is interrupted by a seemingly little old lady, who says, "I just want you to know…your tales are such a blessing to this little old lady who can’t adventure anymore!" There are some who react with astonishment who maybe know of the legends, the stories... but there are also many merchants and other such travelers ignorant. The locals, knowing what a legend @karrygeisler1117 is, cheer to hear even another retelling of a tale told from the Legend themself.

Timmy, you obviously know what you’re doing and you probably won’t see this, but alter the way you swing an axe man, notice your buddy stays head on, with his feet spread wide, and crouches with the swing. Your feet are very close and you turn your body occasionally. I had a buddy that did this and the axe slipped on a bad swing and cut his foot in half. He’s perfectly fine, even drove himself to the ER. I just want to see everybody stay safe. Keep on making amazing videos brother

Sometimes scoring the end of the round of wood (carefully) with the chainsaw helps a crappy splitting maul get the job done. A metal splitting wedge and a 4 lb. mallet would be a good thing for someone to leave at that cabin.

My extended family had a "cabin " (I say this noting that by cabin it had 7 bedrooms) with a huge fireplace made entirely of volcanic ore and rocks. It was gas that ran through the entirety of the 3 floors. It was built in the late 1800s and when lit would radiate heat through the entire cabin. I loved the imagination of the idea because the rocks would hold the heat long after the fireplace was turned off. I mention this because you were describing how the logs retain heat in much the same way. Again of note...the sheer size of the place kinda negated some of the usefulness of the rock. However, the heart was there, and in all honesty, if such a fireplace were present in a smaller cabin, it would be very efficient! Sadly, I've never seen such a setup since that place. I think if I were to win the lottery and build my own cabin (again noted, not 7 rooms but 1 to 2 rooms), I would utilize a similar ore.

I have to say this... I watch many channels like yours, and whether the men are in Alaska, Russia, Sweden, you name it.... all of you guys leave the door open when going out to cut wood or shovel, etc. The cabin needs to say warm, of course, but your letting all of the warm out! It drives me crazy. 🥶 CLOSE THE DOOR YOU GUYS! LOL. It just cracks me up! Just like your mom or dad might have said, "close the door I'm not trying to heat the outside!". 😂 Well, that's what my mom would have said!! Love your channel. It doesn't matter as much when you have a woodstove ripping. It's not like a gas furnace with a thermostat that kicks on when cold air comes in. I almost always have a couple windows cracked open in my cabin in the winter. A woodstove kicks out a lot of heat so it's nice to have some cold fresh air coming in. I leave my door wide open when I bring wood inside.

i live here in Alaska as well and want to turn you on to a simple way to filter your snow water, cheap too. Take an new/clean unglazed terracotta flower pot, (you know, orangeish red, cheap everywhere) cork the bottom hole, pour your melted and boiled water into the pot and let the water seep through the pot into a catchpot, overnight. Clean, healthy and good tasting water for every use, is the result. If you let the pot dry completely before you leave, you can leave it to freeze in the cabin when you leave and everyone can use it behind you. If not well dried before it freezes, it often breaks the pot.
