hey mate just found this video, well done on completing 12 laps on your first one, that is brilliant. when i was running i thoroughly enjoyed the idea of a backyard ultra and decided to give it ago at the same mvp event but in 2022 at 14 years old (now 17). i managed to do 10 laps which was the goal and have never experienced running like that ever before at such a young age. i enjoyed it apart from the late start and that one big hill 😂. due to shin splints later on i stopped running however i’ve always loved long distances and may pick it back up again and hopefully do the same event in 2026
Just found your channel & your BYU videos in particular 👍👍👍. Well done on the 12 laps. Perfect timing as I'm doing my first back yard ultra here in the UK in 4 weeks. My training was also affected by illness & then injury, so I'm not quite where I wanted to be - but still really looking forward to the event & the format.
Well done getting to 12 laps, had my first official one at Herdy's just last weekend and had grand plans to go to 24, unfortunately 7 was all I could manage which was less than I did in a practice run! Lazerus Lak's saying they are easy until they are not rings true, you feel like everything is going well and nice and strong, but this can flip very quickly.
