Miguel was born in Westminster, CA. He enlisted in the Marine Corps as an
Aviation Mechanic, but after 9/11, Miguel wanted to fight and changed his
job to Infantry Rifleman.
He got what he asked for and fought through Nasiriyah’s “Ambush Alley” during the Iraq invasion of 2003. Miguel recalls and shares vivid details of the War in Iraq, and Ambush Alley in today's episode.
Miguel talks us through what life was like for him in combat, after combat,
and how his wife contributed to pulling him out of a dark place upon
transitioning out of the military.

Brotherrrrrr. Your interviews are right there with the Sean Ryan Show. I needed this one today. My time on active duty is about to come to an end after 12 years before I swap over to the Ohio Army National Guard to be with my family. I'm drinking watching this and while I smile, and laugh, and tear up at this guys story. One of my first squad leaders was with 1/2 for the invasion (can't remember what company as I have deleted social media) and nothing but respect for the warriors who went through that fire during the invasion. Keep up the great work with this channel. We love it. THIS IS ALL WE NEED TO HEAL. Is other veterans literally just sharing their story and perspective. Just to hear their experience and what we have all gone through after the long war is all we need. Thank you for sharing your story boss. Semper Fi.

Back in 98 we'd never thought about what would follow. I was un Kosovo on TDY orders with the 101st airborne 502nd when 9/11 occured. I was immediately sent back to my parent unit the 10th mountain 1-87th Infantry as were the rest of he guys in TDY only like a handful, i would eventually get sent to Afghanistan with the 10th and be home by june 2002. Got out after my 4 years and 3 deployments 2 were combat deployments and would re-enlist in 2003 because of Iraq. I would serve there from 04 to 05 and a time i wish i could forget but cant, what a ride jesus.

Best description I have ever heard of a Marine. A guard dog without a purpose turns into a pitbull waiting to instill violence. I did 20 years in the USMC (10TH MAR.). Retired in 2015. It is hard to find people out here with the mindset of Marines. Matter a fact I have found it impossible. Keep your head down brother Semper Fi

Usually I don't comment this much. I think its because this Marine reminds me of a really good friend of mine when I was in. His name was Miguel Hernandez. GOOCH!! Anyway I love his description of what he experienced his first time aboard an army base. I remember a squad of Rangers came through one day to use the small FOB as a step off point. The team leader was amazed as to how primitive the living conditions were!! Even Motherfn US Army Rangers were amazed by how shitty we lived!! Pussies

Excellent interview, tyfys, great descriptions of events, the rosary bead and crosses like Mr T hit me, the A-10 hit when he started describing what the Lt Colonel was doing loading bodies and body parts on the tank so no one was left behind about had me leaking from my eyes, damn onion cutting Ninjas, I’ve seen a lot of scenes like the Semi vs Car, I was a Paramedic in the NYC system and was there on 9/11, on the way in I called my wife and told her to get the kids out of school because I don’t know if I’m coming home alive, hardest fu*king phone call I ever made, one of my partners was killed when tower 1 came down, Carlos Lillo 😔🙏🏻, along with 7 other Paramedics and EMT’s, that still haunts my dreams and I can’t watch when they start airing it all as 9/11 nears, I have yet to go to the museum and I now live in FL and I don’t know if I’ll ever go back, I’m a veteran as well, Army 13F, and in April of 2001 my wife and I lost our only daughter and I had her buried in Calverton National Cemetery, that was devastating to us and then 5 months later to the day is when 9/11 happened, it was a crappy year for sure, I want to see if they will exhume her and bring her done here to one of the National Cemetery’s, sorry I got off track, anyway Semper Fi to you Marine, may god bless you 🙏🏻

Everyone of these veterans needs to be vetted again. Urban valor did a horrible job, verifying all of these veterans that are telling their stories. I’ve noticed they have taken at least one down of a retired Navy, veteran that completely fabricated his career.

Its called a scuzz rag. And I'm a little older marine I graduated boot camp in 1989. And our drill instructors loved playing games they would make us drink 2 full canteens of water after eating Chow.. And you know what happens when you drink 2 canteens full of water after chow somebody's gonna throw 🤯🤯🤯 up. And when one recruit throws up half the platoons gonna throw up. And of course you're gonna get the drill instructor pissed off because you just threw up on his deck. Let the games begin he pulls out his hose and the Squad Bay is full of water and throw up and recruits pushing the scugs rags from one end of the barracks to the next end. What good fun. The prospect of actually entering Iraq was up in the air until we entered Iraq. The whole time going over on ship (about 1 1/2 months), sitting in camp in Kuwait (about a month)- we were told very little and the rumor mill was full of different expectations but the general belief was that it would only end up being a big show of force that would result in Saddam allowing weapons inspectors in and then we’d go home. (Funny thing is that if Saddam had just let the weapons inspectors do their thing a whole lot of blood might have been spared because in the end it turned out of course that there were no WMDs anyways. The powers that be may have found another reason to invade though so who knows. It is what it is and what a fuckin wild ride it was. USMC B Co. 1/2)

Full Metal Jacket will give you enough information to be highly concerned, nothing will prepare you for being forced to push yourself miles past your perceived limits. A person would never push themselves to the point of tears running down your face from failed pushups or run until you start to black out. You will experience it all in boot camp. You'd better want it. BAD. I went to the sheriff's academy and my instructors were SWAT team guys. 2 of the 3 were former military driller instructor instructors. They were serious business. I was a gun and tactic nut and wanted to be a deputy since I was a young kid. I was in awe of these guys. I would have died before I would have thrown in the towel. We started 66 and graduated 23. It was fn brutal. You'd better want it because it goes on FOREVER AND EVER. When it's over and put that uniform on that you admired for so long, all the pain was so worth it.

If social media had been as big, and the stigma of being seen as weak wasn't so rampant in the military I'd imagine hundreds to thousands of veterans would have told their stories, for the support or the understanding from fellow warriors of what it feels like and how they feel. Remember, a man with PTSD back in the day was nothing more than "weak minded, and not cut out for this life" and we gave ZERO fks about their mental health. So what fkin reason would they have had to talk about it? At least now, we are properly educated on mental health and veterans now have lifelines and support. Imagine how many would have not gone through with taking their own life had they had support like this or an opportunity to spill it out.
