Jan Poulsen, a non-smoker diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007, tells her story of surviving stage 3A cancer caused by exposure to high levels of radon in her home.
Radon is a naturally occurring gas caused by the decomposition of uranium-bearing granite in our soil. It becomes dangerous when it is trapped in our airtight homes. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers and responsible for 15,000 to 22,000 deaths in the U.S. each year.
