Mindustry is a factory management game mixed with elements of tower defense and RTS. Don't let the simplified graphics fool you - there is a lot of building and logistics depth here, especially as the game progresses.
In this Let's Play video I'll be playing the 2nd level of the main campaign: the Frozen Forest. In this level you're introduced to goal, graphite, and the scorch turret.

Nice vid and playthough, you did pretty well for a first timer, the only thing I'd suggest is finishing research like bridges and overflow gates, those only take copper and lead. Hope you continue makeing these and I'll continue watching you.

mine dustry 💀 though its much better than Some videos 2:40 that drill in the middle CANT do anything, PLease use a bridge then you would have slightly more production dont repeat routers since that will make it backfeed Instead alternate overflows and underflows. Could I collab with you. Im good at mindustry Hold B or [UNBOUND] to rebuild broken structures easily

Thanks for the tips! Do you prefer the min-dustry pronunciation? Haha, I realized my mistake with that mine a little later in the play though and had a good groan. I ended up fixing it (you can see it fixed @ 12:43) but ended up cutting the change during editing. Another commenter also suggested gates to prevent backflow - I'll give that a go next time. For bridges, can you clarify the the role you use them for? I've only used them to cross obstacles, but it sounds like you're using them in a different capacity too.

@@ZeddTheBuilder Bridges can go over miners and stuff too so if you have a spot with 9 miners make 1 edge one slightly up to do a bridge so you get 2 extra copper spots EXAMPLE: OOO OOO OoO < see that spot Use a bridge there going down out of the spot you lost production of several miners on that map from them not being adjacent to conveyers wait does google seriously say minedustry

Note that your mines can only output if there's something to output onto, like a belt or gate or bridge. You have a lot of those coal mines isolated from any outputs. Leave a gap between so you can put a belt to actually get the coal out. As a good hint for beginners, conveyor bridges are really useful and it's hard to see that at first. You can input from 3 sides and the 4th is blocked, and you can output from 3 sides and the 4th is totally blocked. The biggest advantage of this is having a block that outputs in 3 directions and won't accept any input coming back. You'll figure it out in time if you keep playing anyway

Just to get you out bad habits early; dont use routers to route stuff around your factory. Use gates instead. Always use gates. Never use more than 2 routers or gates beside each other. Always do 2 and then a conveyor gap and then another 2. They all go weird when 3 or more are beside each other. Routers/distributors are particularly bad. Don't use router chains! Ever! They are bad. The only good use for a router (and distributor for that matter cos they're the same but the distributor is bugger) is combing belts. Run 2 or 3 belts of the same resource into the sides of the router and then output from the others. It'll remove any gaps in your lanes and distribute that resource evenly. Think of the router as something like a throughput just so you can compress and distribute stuff. The gates are the thing you want to move resources in certain directions and load turrets

Thanks for the tips! I had overlooked the overflow/underflow gates thinking of them only for the cases where I wanted to handle excess supplies. It sounds like their real power is in restricting resources from flowing backwards - so compared to routers I would be able to get a much higher throughput down the line without having to contend with backflow.

@@ZeddTheBuilder yeah no worries. I'll probably leave small bits and pieces as you play if you keep going... Don't wanna say too much at once and overwhelm, or meta game you. Just wanna guide how to use pieces in the game. I am an engineer IRL, so I can do math pretty good and I can program. I know more about the logic than the average player and i can do some fun stuff. Got this game a few months ago and I love it :p
