I get questions about my health most every day and I figured it was about time I took a moment to update you all on what's been up.
I still have my feeding tube though recently I've been able to eat more and sustain myself like a normal human being believe it or not! Though it's been broken since December and my goodness what an adventure the American healthcare system is!
For those of you wondering I have Ehlers-Danlos Sydrome and a handful of conditions that accompany it - the most prominent and challenging for my life nowadays is Gastroparesis
I explain far more about all of this in this video:

Annie, be sure there are so many more people out there, who see you as a wonderful person - not as a sick person. So - just go ahead showing (if it suits you) in your beautiful videos what makes you this wonderful person and not feeling the need to explain too much the other. Your openness is mind-blowing and brave. Hope you and Hazel can get up to these beautiful rivers and mountains where it is hopefully less heat. xxx & greetings from Austria.

I think in life that when someone volunteers to share their health struggles we should be respectful and listen, but try not to ask too many probing questions. So many of us, myself included, have hidden issues that are difficult to talk about. Sharing your deeply personal medical condition shows vulnerability, but your strength in coping is to be admired, and shows a depth of wisdom and maturity beyond your years.

You , Miss Annabelle, are such a sweetheart…you are so kind to answer to ppl who care for you to ask these questions they ask…I am so happy to hear all you express so very eloquently. And I wanted to share with you, my shepherd, Willa, whom looks so so much like miss Hazel, would go fishing for the rocks I threw into our creek (ugh when I didn’t realize a shepherd would do that!) and chipped a couple teeth…she is obsessed!! I want so much to share with you what Willa and I discovered and well, she is an amazing soccer and fetch girl…I bet Hazel has that ability ( ahhhhh totally!!) …but only a heads up…I wish to share some of my experience with Willa with you- she is 6 now- but I also want to say….as a human,..I think you are just so so amazing….thank you for the update and I really hope things will cool off, I am so worried over this planet…I need to shut up now …take good care!

When I was diagnosed with a disease, I learned to have it sit beside me. I’m still me, this is just something that is along for the journey. When I need to ground myself, I go to my favorite spot, remove my shoes and spend time grounding. Yes, sometimes means laying on the ground and listening to Mother Earth. Sometimes I go to sacred places and lean on a glacier Boulder, close my eyes. I see colors, I felt a purple velvet robe across my face, I see the universe, not sure what all it means but I gain a knowing. I know in ancient times I’d be labeled a sear or a witch. Call me any label. I’m just me and this my journey. Love your channel, hope you embrace your Norwegian 🇳🇴 heritage as I have.

Just wanted to say that I Loved your description! I have a high level of chronic pain and have described learning to deal with it as “holding it’s hand”. Sometimes it’s a clench, sometimes a firm grip, sometimes soft clutch..... but always there. I farm in Louisiana so I’m extremely sympathetic to the struggles of dealing with the heat! Grounding ( I despise my mud boots) is so beneficial! Bright Blessings🌺

@Megan.eco-Instinct
@Megan.eco-Instinct 3 года назад
Dodie, people are so rude now. I am a bit "older" and I lived much of life in a time when no one would have demanded answers to all of these very personal questions. We just never would ask someone about things like this... it was private---personal. We also never asked people about money. They way people _demand_ information about how much money someone makes, how they make their money, what they spend it on. It's obscene the way people invade people's lives now.

THANK YOU Annie for such an uplifting message! As a chronically ill person, it's so hard to keep my illness form definig me. Some days I feel so sorry for myself and it feels very defeating. Thank you for showing that there's another way to exist in this world of illness. It doesn't have to define us and keep us from living our best lives. Always open to see some spellwork that is good for managing and coping with chronic illness. Although I understand if that's not where you want to focus attention in your channels.

If the heat picks up again I recommend a cold compress on hand just to cool down the body temp. Also, in heatwaves, I tend to alternate a change of clothes and garments in the icebox. It might sound silly, but it's a life saver.

It is wonderful to see that you have built your life to not put your disability on constant display and that you can shine through the things you love. @Megan.eco-Instinct
@Megan.eco-Instinct 3 года назад
I'm so sorry you are dealing with MS. I had to say, the whole "able to walk" thing is so odd. I have several quite debilitating disabilities and I can't tell you how many times I have heard "but you can walk". I think there is this odd feeling that if you are ambulatory at all, you can't be disabled. It's such an ignorant perception; I don't understand it. It's a very demeaning and indifferent way to treat someone who is ill and/or disabled. Stay strong Crystal, sending you lots of healing energy.

I'm in Portland and my elderly pup really struggled through the heat. We called the vet and they suggested wetting his paws and ears every few hours, putting ice in his water, and laying out a damp towel on a tiled floor for him to lay his belly on. I hadn't heard of the pedialyte idea that someone mentioned in the comments, but it's a good idea. We were more worried about our pup than ourselves, I think because we could recognize and communicate what was happening to each other, if anyone was in trouble. But all you can tell with pets is that they're in trouble and you have to solve the mystery of what is ailing them. That's pretty scary.

It's the notion of a restriction or limitation that, if we manage it well enough, turns out not to be a constraint, but shows itself to be a transformative catalyst. I suspect you are in the process of becoming something even greater than what you have already been. That is never easy or simple. But it is so helpful to your tribe. I grew up in Massachusetts and as a kid we never had air conditioning and many of our summers we would have a heat with 100 percent humidity here is what we did : in the am take your top sheet fold it neatly and put it in a zip lock bag and put in the freezer for the day . AT night take it out and sleep under it ... a little uncomfortable for a few minutes but eventually it is the perfect temp to fall asleep . All I needed was to fall asleep once asleep the heat did not bother me , Drinking cold lemonade also cools down the body . A quick dip in teh ocean helps cool you down as well . I also like to rinse off with cold shower just before bed. ALso a bowl of ice in front of fan . For pets I had a dog in in Lynn MA that when it got really hot we would give him a bag of ice and he sleep on it . Basements are the best though in a heat wave .I have one now but it a dirt floor and I rarely go down there

We are hopefully leaving our toxic situation with our landlady to move to our mountain land within the next two weeks. The toxicity has taken every ounce of energy out of us so it is so hard to even pack or do anything except rest. Keep remembering to rest. It helps.

Emma USA is very fortunate as the healthcare here is better than anywhere in the world. In other countries you have to wait months and months and still you have to pay your way to the front of the line to even get seen. Sometimes it takes awhile for the insurance company to collect all your records (as this can be complicated if there have been numerous doctors involved) so they will know the tests you have already had and don't need again for awhile and then the tests that have not been done, but should be done. I am a nurse and I have seen it all and the USA does have the best healthcare.

It has actually helped me a lot, in a strange way, and made me feel less alone, and gave me the focus to go forward again, even if it's in my own time and my own way. From one spoonie to another, yeah, I feel this. You are absolutely allowed to only share what you want, when you want to. As for the heat, and you probably already know this, but just in case, my dad taught us to keep coolers of ice water around at outdoor events. Let some cloths soak in it and every so often, wrap one around your neck and other places where major arteries run. You could do the same for Hazel as well.

Yup we have window a/c units and even with both of them on high we could barely get the temps down inside our house. It was brutal here and now in BC we are fighting fires all over. So far the skies aren't smokey yet but the summer is just beginning and I only hope that we get some gentle rains with no lightening. Thank you for educating us on your health condition. It's always enlightening to learn how others deal with health conditions and still manage to live life in a meaningful way.

That’s so wonderful that you are able to enjoy eating! I’m so glad that you’ve also been able to start seeing doctors again and getting things done. The American medical insurance system is disgraceful, I hate it so much. The heatwave sounds really scary, especially for poor Hazel. I don’t know if you have them there, but look into a cooling mat for dogs. If you can’t find one, you could buy a few large marble bathroom tiles for her to lay on. Marble stays nice and cool and you can even put them in the fridge to cool for a bit. I have to do this for my chinchilla in the summer. Damp towels laid out for her, or draped over her are also good for hot doggos. Wishing you continued wellness and cooler temperatures! 💗

As everyone is saying, you absolutely have a right to your privacy; I’m just glad you’re doing well! I’m thrilled you can eat now and I hope it stays that way. As for cooling Hazel, Army medics (like me) treat casualties by applying sheets soaked in ice water to junctional areas (arm pits, neck, between legs) for about one minute. When we overheat, our bodies kinda forget how to regulate temperature so make sure she doesn’t get too cold. But I think rinsing her with cool water and keeping her hydrated is great and I hope the heat is over there for the year. Take care 💙

That heat was very scary. I’m in Portland and there was no where to go to cool down. The wind was blowing hot heat like someone was opening a oven door. 🥵 I kept having to refill the water bowls I put outside for the birds. I agree that I don’t think that will be the last time we see heat like that in the PNW.

I identified with so much in this video. First of all, omg, that heat wave was a nightmare. I've lived in Seattle my entire life (35 years) and never experienced anything like that. It really is different from heat in other places. I've felt 110+ temps in other states before without much problem, but it's different here. I feel the pain with chronic illness. It bounces back and forth. Insurance is evil and it sucks so much when they're keeping us from getting the care we deserve. I'm glad you've been seeing an improvement in your health. I hope people leave you alone about it a bit now. I've been in the worst flare of my life lately, but I just started a new treatment yesterday, so fingers crossed!

Glad to hear you are "doing well". None of us knows how long we are here for, health issues or not. Sometimes people take life for granted, and "health issues" bring us back to Earth. There is so much I would have liked to have done but never will. That's okay--it's just a fork in the road and I'll have to travel the other one. You have a wonderful Spirit, and I wish you all the best this life can bring you.

You are such a beautiful and resilient soul. Your eye for filming beauty is amazing - thank you for sharing it. I hope the heat doesn’t continue because that area cannot tolerate it much. Thinking if it happens, tho, maybe keep some cool water in the tub for Hazel to rest in (if you have a tub)? And getting away to the cabin was perfect! As for your health - most of us who watch simply care and hope you continue to be well. There is no need for anyone to ask highly personal questions tho - and you don’t need to explain in detail. Glad to hear you are doing much better - stress affects us horribly and can kill if not managed well. You are doing great given how life has been, so make sure not to let it get to you too much.

I make rhubarb things with my grandma too! She has a massive rhubarb in her garden! A lots changed in my life since I last watched one of your videos, I've faced massive traumas, and I fell off my witchery and magic practice. But recently I've been beginning to heal, with the help of therapy and friends and now I'm doing crafts and connecting with nature again. I'm still not practicing magic but being close to nature is close enough for me right now. It feels good coming back to your videos, they feel like home. I'm glad you're doing well despite your tube breaking, and I hope things get sorted soon

Hi Annabel. I struggle with health problems every day. I've had chronic pain in most places in my body from osteoarthritis. I can barely walk and have to use a cane...sometimes 2 canes to get around. Also, I've had diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux in my stomach, really bad allergies that effect my throat and sinuses, feeling tired and weak most of the time, and I have a hard time sleeping every night, etc. I'm sorry you have health problems too. You don't have to talk about them unless you want to. Thank you for sharing what you do in videos. It may help some people who are suffering by sharing. You have pretty scenery where you live. I live in Florida. It can get really hot and humid where I live. It's been storming and raining a lot this summer in Florida. Best wishes to you. I hope things get better for you, and that you have more good days than bad ones. May God bless you now and always. :o)

I'm white on the Navajo reservation and it's scary hot here rn. We had to buy air conditioners for the dogs in the garage. The tub with cool water is best for pups. They don't sweat, they lose heat through paws and panting. Just dipping their paws in cool water helps. We also got a little cool breeze evaporative cooler. It's only usefull blowing right on you but it's like 30$ and you can get one for the dog too lol

Lovely video and than you for sharing. You don't owe anyone anything to be sure. I think when people "consume" videos they have some idea that they have some sort of weird "right" to anything they want to know-it's a strange part of social media. I did go back and watch your older video to understand, and WOW. Honestly, it's a gratitude check for me. You have a lot of grace in less than perfect circumstances. I love your videos for just that peace and grace that you share. I hope Washington continues to be a good thing for you.

Yes…the heat was uncomfortable for sure! I’ve lived in the PACIFIC NW my whole life and once in a blue moon 🌚 it gets up there 👆 but that happens rarely. It’s still one of the best places in the world to live, on average not too hot 🥵 and not too cold 🥶 If people would stop being stupid with matches and burning 🔥 the forests down that would help!

The extreme heat really exacerbated a lot of my rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and I'm glad it's finally over. I was working partly outside and I think I sweated off about 5 lbs and I was living off canned fruit and bagels. I live on a sailboat and even that couldn't get me away from the heat.

After I got my German Shepard our summers started to get more and more hot in the triple digits. We both couldn’t handle it well. My place had one of those small old window AC box that wouldn’t run cold air when it was really hot. I would take multiple ice packs to so we could lay with them. Many times I got scared for her. I was beyond grateful that I found a job and was able to move to a not so extreme heat place. I hope your health continues to improve! I am pretty sure I have EDS and am trying to find MD to help me manage my health. With getting a new job and moving my stress has lessens greatly which is helping my over all health. However I had a bad fall down some stairs and can relate to moving and having issues with health incurance as I had to fight w/incurance as they said since I relocated I had to find a new PCP to get a referral for orthopedist (as I may have a torn ligament) but I couldn’t find a PCP who was taking new patients. Medical care is bad even with incurance so I can only imagine not having it. I can also relate to when you days that health issues have given you perspective. I f inns that I’m stronger having to deal with things my friends haven’t. Everyone has health needs and some psychical and mental and some needing more then others. I’m sorry for those who are being invasive, that’s not okay. Thank you for your time and I hope you and Hazel are fine with the recent heat wave. Hugs 💛

As always a beautiful video. You don’t have to justify your health. I have no idea how the insurance works but I’m sure it’s a terrible stress which then leads to more gut stress. Fantastic that you are able for eat at the moment. Your food always looks so beautiful. Would you consider doing a video of a tour of the little green space and plants on the table you were sitting in front of. It looks beautiful from the sneak peak while you were talking.

I loved the scenery... I have some advice for you When my cat would get over heated,I'd get a towel ,take it in the bathroom ,put the towel in the sink,run the cold tap & saturatectge towel...turn the tap off , wring the towel ...take the towel to my cat & wrap her in the wet towel... This also will work with dogs..
