E D C stands for every day carry and refers to the essential items that you will carry with you on a daily basis. Its great to be prepared for any situation, and your items seems to be well suited of emergency situations. The Swiss army Fieldmaster is a versatile multi-tool that includes a variety of useful tools such as a large blade, small blade, can opener, bottle opener, scissors, wood saw, and more. the key ring also carries a fire rod, and a small bottle of tinder is an excellent choice for starting fires in emergency situations. the wazoo fire card is a credit card sized survival tool can be used as a fire starter. finally using paper receipts carried in my wallet will also serve as emergency tinder to get a fire going in a survival situation. it's always good to be prepared for the unexpected. thanks for watching.

everyday, you forgot the iron and reload Blackie! with the exception of a water bottle i can go for a few days in the woods with just what i carry 24/7 and if i go anywhere near the woods thew battle kit is with me! in the wallet, you might want to add a book of matches sealed up in a small plastic ziplock, a small fishing kit, (i took a business card folded it in half then put some 5 or 6 split shot on it fixed 5 hooks in it and wrapped a 100 feet or so of 10lb line on it) and a couple band aids, your ranger roll, it might be a good idea to throw an old shovel in the trunk with it.

Hey Blackie, why would you cut a slit into your woobie in an emergency? When you can cut it beforehand, at home where you can sew some grosgrain tape to the cut edge to make it last. Then sew on two buttons with paracord loops instead of buttonholes to keep the slit closed. ATB Raven

The sak ranger is definitely the best , most versatile edc sak available ... PERIOD . One of the reasons why it's wayyy better than the field master is the Cork screw ... which can hold tinder to go with the ferro rod which can be bought to replace the tooth pick . The ranger also has the wood / metal file / hack saw ... which the field master DOES NOT HAVE . .. Carrying the ranger would remove the need to carry 3 whole items on your key ring . Leaving room for say... a leatherman squirt , a rovyvon a5 flash light and a mini bic lighter ...?? ... Plus this is supposed to be an EDC video ..and you pull out a truck load of other gear which cannot be carried EVERY DAY ON YOUR PERSON ...at all ... But I do like the wazoo tinder card ... My on body edc Is the ranger , a pair of knipex mini combination pliers, rovyvon a 5 flash light, whirl pak water bag ,mini bic lighter wrapped in waxed jute and gorilla tape, compass , mini fishing kit , 50 ft of number 12 bank line , 6 water purification tablets, small first aid kit , Chocolate bar , ....

I'm about to turn 56 . Ever since I was a kid growing up in extreme rural Arizona , my dad always made me carry a pocket knife and a Bic Lighter . Before the Bics came out it was a BSA match container full of matches . Since the 70s I've drastically expanded what I carry on me every day .

About 2 days after my ex-husband gave me my Pioneer, (which he brought home from the Army shop for R3.75), our umpteenth can opener went belly up. So I used the can opener on the SAK. Never bought a replacement. Never looked back. I've had this knife since 1987. Must confess I HAVE been eying the Huntsman lately...

Outstanding video! Here`s my bare minimum for fall Edc in Penna: Field Master, two bic lighters, one heavy duty garbage bag, a large zip lock bag and an Altioid can with tea candles. So with this stuff you can turn the garbage bag into a poncho and, if need be, light the candles under your makeshift poncho. The candles will generate an amazing amount of heat. The zip lock bag will hold water for drinking. I Carry this gear in a very small kit bag. OH I almost forgot-- I have one of the lighters wrapped with cord ,the other with duct tape. I do have a ten c kit, but what we have here is the bare minimum. What is the old saying? " If you want to survive, stay warm and hydrated. "

I was taught this was a necessity back in the 90s when I moved to California and worked on mountain tops. All of the roads were 4x4 goat trails and many many miles long. Also when there was traffic jams I have been stuck for 8 hrs at a time without a exit. I was taught this by a old county worker that lived in the desert and lived through many earth quakes while working on mountains. I always had extra socks and a pair of hiking boots as well in my jeep.

I carry a get-home-bag in my car. It is cheaper army surplus and thrift store items in case of theft. I also carry a change of clothes and boots plus socks. I don't intend to carry the clothing but if SHTF while I am wearing a suit or lightly dressed at a beach or shopping mall etc, I can change to clothes and foot wear appropriate for a long walk home.

My layer zero is a pocket knife - usually from the Victorinox family or a Buck 110, a Schrade "tactical" pen (can double as marlin spike), my wallet which also contains some receipts and a ferro rod on my keychain. I also carry at least one space blanket. The layer 1 has the ranger roll, a couple of blankets, an unhooking mat which doubles a waterproof layer to sit on, some extra water and spare fuel. Consumeables like water and food kind of go in layer 0.5 as does a cook set in a cup.

This was a great one, Blackie! Thanks so much! I loved “ EDC is a mindset.” Amen, Brother! Absolutely! I’ve practiced (and worked to improve) my EDC system for decades. I’m grey-beard 70 now. My SAK is a first cousin to yours. I love how Victorinox modularizes the construction of their knives. I wish I had the saw, but instead I have a magnifying glass and a Phillips driver (on the end) in a module. The magnifying glass and the scissors are indispensable for me. I also have the package hook, the sewing awl, and the corkscrew on the back side. The important use of the corkscrew is to carry the tiny straight-blade in its coil. I also have the Computer Tech SAK, which my daughter gave to me one Christmas. It is carried in my Level 1 load out. I lost an SAK one time due to my complete comfort carrying my EDC. I gave it to the TSA. See where this is going? 45-minute wait in line at O’Hare, 5 minutes before boarding, I realized my SAK was in my pocket! 😵‍💫 Nobody to give it to, no way to ship it, no time to lose! The only answer was to toss it in the bin with many others. At least it was replaceable, not unique or an heirloom. Another daily hazard of EDC is going to the doctor. I’m of the age that I have a moderate number of appointments. Seems like they want take vitals, including weight. I have learned to dump my pockets before I step on the scales. Seems like 2-3 lbs. when including a fair number of keys and my phone. Yes, EDC is a mindset for being prepared!

Great video. I used to teach classes on winter survival at a local high school. I live in upstate New York in what’s considered the snow belt where we’re constantly receiving Lake Affect snow storms besides the ordinary snow storms. The area is not heavily populated and the possibility of being stuck in your vehicle for hours or even a day or two. I encouraged the students to never travel without some EDC items in their vehicle and to encourage their parents to travel prepared through the Winter months. Just like you stated in your video I explained how to utilize the resources in the vehicle like seat covers, store receipts, tires, etc., anything to aid them from freezing to death. Again, thanks

In my right pocket is SAK Huntsman, Bic lighter with duct tape and 2 feet of jute twine, 6’ hank of paracord all attached to a small carabiner and wrapped in a bandana. It lacks an easy shelter and cup, but 50% chance I refilled a small single wall water bottle vs a 500ml plastic one. And cans are fairly common on the roadside unfortunately. Including the aluminum beer bottles. My thought is that lvl 0 should cover you overnight to 36 hours. But always dress appropriately as that is always your base shelter.

We think alike! Cheaper/older survival gear in the car, but I'm in the city so my zero EDC is a bit more city oriented: On me: small pocket knife, flashlight, wallet, keys, memory stick and cellphone at all times EDC bag: mini fire kit (note to self: add some fatwood), battery brick and USB cables, Mora companion, snack bar, nail clippers tissues, Band-Aids and water bottle (and more) I keep some bins next to the front door with all the interchangeable gear I might need (kangaroo, poncho, tarps, bug repellent, first aid kit, etc, etc, etc) so all I have to do is look and grab what I need and barely ever forget anything. Backpack collection is hung in the same area, ready to be filled.

Ah, yes, our modern lives. If you are wanting to have some portable electrical power (a brick) in your vehicle EDC, don’t leave a Li-ion battery in the cold. Use a bank which uses AA cells, and fill it with EverReady Lithium cells. They don’t lose voltage in the cold. Think about a 2nd set of cells packed along with the brick.

Hi Blackie, on my keychain I carry a Victorinox Rambler, and in my back pocket, or sometimes in a Zermatt leather sheath, I carry a Victorinox Craftsman as well. It’s a discontinued model, very similar to the field master you carry. Also on my keychain I have a tiny little pill fob, just precisely for two aspirin… they say that taking an aspirin within an hour after a heart attack will double your chances of survival, so, being as I’m in my 60’s, I figured an ounce of preparation…. Lastly, the other thing I keep on my keychain, other than keys and car fob, is a tiny flashlight. This is one of those ones that uses a coin-sized battery, so it really is small, but it gives me just that little extra light I need if I’m under my desk, trying to read the code on my network connection at work for the IT guy or something like that. That’s not 100% of my EDC, but it is pretty close, oh, and like you, I’ve my keychain on a bit of paradors, clipped to my pants, so it wouldn’t separate from me in a car accident. I have been upside down in a truck before and you know, seat belts don’t release easy when your weight it is hanging on them, which is exactly when you may need a pocket knife to cut your way out before that gasoline you are smelling gets to igniting! Been there, done that.

I travel light when I'm just going about my daily life running errands in town and the like. I generally only have a knife and a small AAA flashlight in my pocket and sometimes a Fisher bullet pen. I've got receipts, business cards, even cash in my wallet that I can write on if need be. I have kits in both vehicles with all the other stuff you mentioned as well as some basic vehicle maintenance tools for changing belts, adding oil, fixing flat tires and reinflating, and I have small lithium jumper batteries for jump starting. They're so much more compact and convenient that jumper cables, plus you don't have to find someone that'll jump you from their car. Oh, and I have small shovels in both vehicles as well as a roll of toilet paper and a box of Kleenex. I also grab a handful of napkins when I stop at convenience stores and we take any extra napkins that we didn't use at restaurants and keep those in the cars.

@@randybeeson3424 He covered the vehicle aspect. I keep them handy, but not necessarily in my pocket. I am typing from my vehicle, and I have an AR15, glock 19, and a Remington 1187 within arms reach. I call that handy. The clippers are just as close. Not everything EDC is a pocket dump. A pocket dump for me will produce a glock 19 or 43x, depending on the days agenda. It will also produce a SAK with the firefly fero rod in it. It will produce a bic lighter inside an Exotac fire sleeve and my wallet containing a fresnel lens and tinder.

I own a SAK Huntsman with a mini ferro and tinder inside the corkscrew (FireAnt +Helix tinder). Now, you have a complete survival knife. The corkscrew is multifunctional. If you screw the corkscrew to a long pole and flick open the long knife you got a weapon and a spear to dispatch a trapped animal.. I think the corkscrew is underestimate.

I would add a pistol, cash, and a gold chain for EM bartering. throw about 5 bic lighters in the truck. Plus I put a lighter and a folding spyderco etc. one in EVERY coat pocket I own no matter what. Take down .22 or single shot break open in the truck when I can. And EM meds too.

In my truck, i use some clutter to make my gear less exposed, Extended cab pick up truck, basically all my gear is in the extended cab or in the bed. I never lock my doors. The point is i reckon, and not a great idea, i allow certain these weak areas because i know how to counter such things

get a bright colored laundry bag put your gear inside of it then cinch it up leave some old towel or bath rug kinda sticking out at the top ..put it behind the seat ....pin a note that can be seen and read from outside the truck.. in big angry letters write "" your god d*mn dog pissed on it your gonna fi**king wash it then!! do you know anybody gonna break in to look in that bag?
