On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-17-22.
We’re looking at a 1967 Chevrolet SS 427 in Tahoe Turquoise Paint. The car comes with a 427 CI V8 engine and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Keith Adelsberg. Keith’s had this car since 2021. Keith shares his 1st car was a 1967 Chevy and he’s always loved this. This one is special because it is a survivor that was saved in a “bubble” to preserve it.
To see details on the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, go to www.MCACN.com
ENJOY!

Back when I bought my 67 impala, they did have an available super sport, but I’m thinking this car might’ve been released later in the year and there wasn’t that many of them made anyway, I was a little surprised too, that it didn’t even have the word impala on it just strictly the SS and the 427 numbers

In 1976 I had a 67 SS 427 4 speed in Marina Blue with Black Interior with Bucket Seats ... It came with the original window sticker as well. Car was in good condition then, no dents or interior tears. Former owner put headers on it with Flow Masters & a Holley 750 ... car had 75,000 miles on it and used a quart of oil every 200 miles with much white smoke on start up. I paid $700 for it and 2 years later sold it for $750. I added 4 Cragers, Deep Dish in the rear (G60's) and Burnt them up in no time. Original Power Steering & Power Drum Brakes. I STILL LOVE that GIANT Fastback design !

My first car was a 1967 Chevy Caprice station wagon with the SS 396 engine. Loved that car. Deceptively powerful and fast (when those four barrels opened up that baby hauled!). Sold the vehicle in the late 70's to a guy who wanted the seasoned big block engine for racing. What great memories these videos bring.

I was 17yrs old in 1971 living in San Jose, Ca my first car was a 4 yr old 67 SS 427, Cost $2,200. Marina Blue/ Blk interior, To this day I have never seen another one with all the options this one had, power windows, power seats, tilt wheel, air conditioning, funky rear window defogger, gauges,console. I remember I ran the gas tank till it was nearly empty and when I filled it up with Arco Supreme at the time it took 24.5 gallons with a 26 gallon tank $9.60 to fill it at 39 cents a gallon, now at 69 I dearly miss those days, the gas even had a good smell, and the pump would "ding" every time a gallon was pumped, doesn't seem like 52yrs ago, went by fast.⛽

Another great video, and great car Lou! Brings back the memories. One of the cars I had back in the day was a '68 Parisienne 427 (Pontiac built in Canada, engine from Tonawanda) I bought well used, in 1984, for $400.00. and with the installation of a good used carburetor, starter and a tune up, it was a real performer! Wish I'd kept it, I found it easy to work on, comfortable to drive. I got it cheap because back then, no one appreciated them.

67 fastback is one of my favorite cars, as I've had several 67 Impala fastbacks, including 3 SS's. Love the color on that SS 427, and the Strato-bench is great. One of mine has the Strato-bench. I prefer it to the buckets due to the reasons given in the video, plus having the fold-down center armrest makes for a comfortable place to rest my arm 🙂. There's no place to rest your right arm with buckets. The Strato-bench still looks sporty, since it has bucket seat backs. Some people think Super Sports only came with buckets and a console, but the Strato-bench was an option on Super Sports and Caprice. The option is listed in the 67 Chevrolet dealer brochure.

In the early 1970's, out here in Central California, while taking in one of our Fords to the Ford dealership for service, I took a walk through the used car lot. On the lot was a white 1967 Chevy full-size SS coupe like this one and it was either an SS396 or an SS427, I don't remember which, but it was probably an SS396. It had the expected factory bucket seats with a center console and a 4-speed manual transmission. I remember sitting in the car. It was a real thrill.

Great work Lou. There’s an add by Chevrolet aired on Bewitched television series. A very similar automobile is featured with an owner who had a special glass garage blown for display of his 67 Impala. Even the same color. The show oft featured Chevrolet products with Elizabeth Montgomery. Those old Chevrolet models are beautiful metal sculptures. The Sheldrake Seven custom would be a cooler find with its bubble canopy.

I had a 67 impala one of my all-time favorite cars and one of the best cars I ever owned. I went to the dealership with the understanding I had to get an automatic car so my new wife could drive it I had a four-speed 66 Chevelle I traded in on it. I hated getting rid of that car but we needed the automatic and if they would’ve had this on the car lot I would’ve had it cause I was always disappointed and all the horsepower I lost besides losing the four-speed and I was only 18 years old at the time and did not even know this car existed. I knew they had super sports but never seen the SS 427 impala till later.

Hi Lou, I know it's been awhile; but I hope everything is well with you. The full sized Chevrolet vehicles we're well built, indestructible, reliable, attractive, affordable, very fast especially with the 427 engine. The buyer was offered a number of options also found on more expensive GM cars such as Buick and Cadillac. Take care Lou and stay healthy. Brian from Toronto Canada

Duck big bro LOOOOUUUUUU! WHOOSH>>>>>WHOOSH>>>>>>THWACK! As my big floppy DC sneakers glide past your head and land on the far wall of that Muscle Car warehouse😜😂! I was blown away by this survivor, Lou. My floppy sneakers blown right off my tubesocked stocking feet, too 🤪🤣. I have seen the front of these Chevy's in photos, but was never really aware of their luscious rear quarters, impossibly long curves. I think I might be in love with this metallic chick, Lou 😜😁. The way the front overhang is quite short compared to the rear is striking. And having been to Lake Tahoe, I can give testimony to that beautiful turquoise color. On this Memorial Day, God bless you Lou! Thanks for yanking my sneakers off as easily as you do, big brother style, with a grin lol 😆. JV Johnny⚾

Boy oh boy do I remember these when they were new! I was a 10 year old car nut. My parents told me that when I was 5 I could identify every car on the road by year, make and model. It was a lot easier in those days as cars (what few there are) don’t change from year to year. I really miss those days.

That's a fact, I was that same 9 yr old who could identify every model & yr. This was my favorite yr. One of Bitchinrides first episodes featured a 67,triple black 427,4 Sp convertble. I think Dave put that valved exhaust on it. I just loved that spec!!

The SS moniker now has a stigma. In the early half of the 1960s the SS option was truly the nicest appearance package you could order on any given Chevy model that offered it, but towards the later 60’s it (SS) became more about the engine with bigger emblems & decals and the actual car model nowhere listed on it.
@loucostabile

Hi Rich, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
@grand73am

No stigma. A Super Sport will always be more desirable than the regular Impala. You could still get a 67 Impala SS, with the Impala SS nameplates all over it. While the regular 67 Impala looks great, the 67 Impala SS looks even better. And they sold a whole lot of them. You could get the 67 Impala SS with a 396, 327, 283, even a 6 cylinder, though not many made with a 6 cylinder fortunately. So it wasn't just about the engine. But, you could get it with the same 427 that came in the SS 427 too. But it wouldn't be an "SS 427", which Chevrolet made as a separate model, sort of a top dog SS with the Z24 appearance package, which included the special domed hood with center chrome ornament, and emblems specific to the SS 427. The car model name, which is "SS 427", is on the car in 2 places. There's an SS 427 emblem in the grille, and SS 427 on the trunklid trim molding. It was a special car, and only 2124 SS427's were sold. It was a similar situation for 1968, where they had both the Impala SS and the SS 427. But by 69, they were phasing out the Impala SS, so the only fullsize SS available in 69 was an SS 427. And then no more fullsize SS in 70.
