TheMurrmursonbottle Well, Chris made the most of the time he was there. On the first day, he got Lauren to play an Idol. On the second day, he played an Idol. On the third day, he did what Domenick didn’t and gave up Immunity to fight Devens, and he won. If you were a juror, would you honestly vote for frigging Julie over Chris? Or Gavin?
5,000 subscribers with no videos X True, but Gavin was just sitting back and helping moves be made, not actually making them. Chris did more in 6 days than Gavin did in 39.
Lauren, Aurora and Victoria for me. I think they had enormous potential and were screwed over by massive twists. Lauren and Victoria’s excellent social games and Aurora’s perseverance and also being smart enough to talk DOWN rick at tribal instead of taking him up made me love them
He was the typical early boot that strategizes too much. However when he comes back he is basically the Edge personified. He comes back like a sage. He is like, "I'm tired and I don't want to strategize too much but I have information." That wasn't Chris talking that was the Edge.
I feel Chris won because he had a huge advantage coming from EoE. He had less time to make errors, gained a TON of information (like Lauren's idol) was gifted an idol for the final five (he would've been voted out then) and was able to be the last person the jurors talked to before they officially became jurors. If they came on to Final Tribal and immediately voted, Chris would've had won unanimously. Gavin I feel was robbed (I hate using that phrase) because he had much better jury management, really only made a few mistakes, yet was never voted for. Chris had a lot more votes to his name, and was voted out. If you wanna talk errors, you have them from Chris. Gavin also played an exceptional social and strategic game, always being in the majority alliance (except for the Wentworth vote), and if it wasn't for Chris being on EoE, the jurors would've felt most connected to him. So yeah, I think Gavin should've won. Not mad that Chris won though, I liked him, and he definitely deserved it. (Just not as much as Gavin)
lakehombreguy but the eoe should have been done earlier. I’m not blaming Chris for productions clear flaw in putting someone in randomly at the top 5, I’m blaming production
Perhaps not the most desired outcome of a season, (I was fine with it, but I know a lot of people who weren’t) but overall, it was definitely one for the history books. It had a bar that was set very high, airing just after DvG, but it was able to deliver and make me look forward to each coming Wednesday. I wish Victoria could have gone all the way, but I can’t really complain too much. Great players, unpredictable most of the time, the music was amazing, (can’t emphasize that enough) and some of the craziest and most entertaining tribals in Survivor history. Despite what some of y’all say, this season was great
This season was great watching it, but it will hold up terribly on a rewatch. It’s not a season that’ll ever be good to watch again since you’ll always be thinking “none of this matters.” Victoria, Lauren, and Gavin’s subtle gameplay doesn’t matter. Aurora lasting week after week doesn’t matter. Devens’ long string of tribal immunity doesn’t matter. The best any of these people could’ve ever hoped for is second place because Chris, a man who literally barely played the actual game, won because of a massive game shaking twist. Those I was mostly entertained throughout, the end does ruin the season for me, and I think we have a new last place winner.
@@TheMurrmursonbottle yeah but that’s the case for hundreds of players, that’s like saying don’t make us care about went worth in second chance cuz she goes home last or David in mvgen x or Russell is Samoa as he doesn’t win like it really is the game it’s made for entertainment not to make u care about people for them to win the game but to draw you in and care if they go or not
Victoria and Lauren for a second chance. Maybe even Devins. The first 2 (especially Victoria) got screwed by the Extinction Island twist. The 3 names I mentioned should've been the final 3.
Thinking about it more, Lauren would’ve been the most likely to win. She would’ve been a lock for the final four due to her idol, so Victoria probably would’ve gone home. Then for final four she would either have to make fire or win immunity. And if she was against Devons in fire, she most likely would’ve won. Then it would be her, Gavin, and Julie in the finale where she would easily win.
IMO, the part that was unfair about this season is that the last 3 players voted out did not have the opurtunity to get back in the game after they were voted out. That is all I keep thinking about this season.
TheSubPredicate ummm the only reason why Chris knew about the idol is because of Kelley. Why would she think That after Kelley’s gets eliminated she would tell everyone about her idol. It’s not fair
I agree with Victoria even tho I lost a shitton of respect for her after her rationale for voting Chris over Gavin but Lauren nah she was the HvV Danielle and then when Wentworth gets out she's alright but she makes some pretty bad mistakes
I feel that Julia had a lot of potential but shot herself in the foot her... she could of made it very far, but she just talked to much that last Tribal
I actually liked this season! This season obsvisly wasn't as good as David vs Goliath, but it's definitely getting overhated! It had so many good tribals and blindsides ( Devens, Aubry, Wendy, Eric, Julia, Wentworth, Wardog, Ron, and Vic. I was rooting for Chris to comeback from the Edge of Extinction, and he did! Besides him getting an immunity idol which I think is productions fault, he played so well when he cameback he was able to convince Lauren to play her idol on him, he was able to get Rick to give the other half back, and give his necklace to Julie to personally take Rick out! He was a unusual but good winner! The editing could have been better, but I think it had a cast, (Reem, Aubry, Wendy, David,Wentworth, Wardog, Ron, Vic, Lauren, Gavin and Chris! tribals/blindides, the Edge of Extiction was not the greatest twist but overall I give this season 8/10
The shittypart is that every single blindside you listed except for Vic didn’t matter. All that mattered is that Chris got voted out, he came back, and made fire against Devens, and they jury voted for him solely because of that
Ya it had good blindsides. The problem is seeing a third boot win. How would you feel if Morgan Ricke, or Patrivk Bolton had cone back at final 5 and won their season. You probably would’ve felt terrible. It was unfair to everyone else.
I wish Wendy didn’t leave the Edge- like, I know people thought she was annoying, but her carefree spirit made the season that much more cheerful. Oh and also “I get a hug, I get a hug!”
My top 5 fav men of the season 5- Wardog 4- David 3- Joe 2- Eric 1- Gavin My top 5 fav women 5- Wendy 4- Lauren 3- Reem 2- Aurora 1- Victoria the villainous queen
Agreed, loved Aurora, Wentworth, Lauren and Rick. Shocking that Victoria voted for Chris since she played with him like one day. Very disapointed in David, Ron, Wardog. The rest played mainly on the edge so I can understand better...
TheMurrmursonbottle That was the good part of this season, the game flipped. No one was expecting this season to be this good! Not as good as DvG but It was really good...
Zarklox i think a lot of people weren’t expecting this season to be so _bad_ there’s been a looot of outrage over chris coming back and winning it seems a lot of casual fans are liking it, but long term and more intense fans have been complaining for years about twists ruining the game, and with this happening? people aren’t happy. most of the season never actually mattered, the good gameplay never mattered, all you had to do was be bad enough to get voted out early and win a challenge to get back in really late in the game, and you win
TheMurrmursonbottle U know, this season was either Horrible or Amazing. In my opinion it was amazing! This was a great season where everyone had their moment. It was perfect! Everything went perfect. If it wasn’t the Extinction Twist, probably Joe or Julia would have won. I prefer seeing Chris winning than seeing Julia or Joe. Fans are just mad because, the returners for this season didn’t play the a better game and got out to early. That is why the fans are so mad.
Zarklox I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be mean, but you might have some of the worst analysis for this show that I’ve ever seen. Joe was gonna get voted out at the merge whether EoE was a thing or not - the Kama 6 voted him out, and Rick coming back had nothing to do with that. And Julia? She had such poor gameplay this season, she barely made it to what, 3 tribals? And have you even connected at all with the fandom? People were actively rooting against Joe this season since they thought the twist was rigged for him, and a good chunk of people disliked Kelley at the start of the season. It had nothing to do with the returnees as to why this season was bad. Rick’s constant use of advantages and Chris barely playing the game and winning, therefore negating the entire season leading up to that point is why people didn’t like the season. If you think this is perfect, good for you, but please understand that the vast majority of the fandom, or at least the people being vocal about it, did _not_ enjoy the outcome of this season.
@@patrickcannon6534 How would that be worse? People that get eliminated pre merge don't become extra unneeded jury members, and the only people who can get in at the final 6 are people who actually already merged, so the Extinction returnee is less cheap.
I agree with this. Chris should never have won. The problem with the twist is that the jury are all on EoE - and in this season that worked to the advanatage of whoever came back if they made the final 3 because all the jury members probably feel like they themselves still had a right to win right until that final challenge. Hence the ability to relate with Chris and he got the votes. I personally would have voted for Gavin because he actually made it to the end without having a single vote cast against him. And I don't think anyone minded Devens coming in for the merge because it didn't affect the game that much...but coming in f5 is too late, especially if you were like 2nd or 3rd in the game to be voted off.
I believe Chris deserved to win, but only due to productions flaws. Chris played a great 3 days, but the problem is he had three days while people like lauren Victoria Devens Julia and Gavin had almost 39
This seaosn would have been on of the best if devins, Victoria and lauren got to the finals and Victoria won proving you dont have to play a flasy game just a smart silent deadly game
CRAZY Survivor Fanatic So in your opinion only females were robbed? Wendy and almost everyone on that list were not robbed, I wish you knew the definition of robbed.
@@123eatanappletree9 well think about it Keith was a baby Rick was given idols Joe had no strategic plays at all Eric maybe David didn't do alot in this season Warding actually was kinda robbed Ron was way to cocky Gavin was ROBBED to by annoying Chris
CRAZY Survivor Fanatic Also no none of these people were robbed. They were voted out fairly. The only people who were robbed were Victoria and Lauren (this season.)
Kelley’s blindside was the modern version of Ozzy blindside Micronesia because it was both at final 9, both had unplayed idols and the votes were stacked the same Then Ron pulls an Alexis, he wins the final 7 loved ones challenge and a person that is not selected to join him idols him out in the same episode (which happened to Alexis in Micronesia). And then Rick planting all the fake idols could not stop my laughter (Lauren and Julie found both and they tried to play them), it was probably more hilarious than the f***ing stick!
Survivor 38 Standings: 18. Reem Daly 17. Keith Sowell 16. Aubry Bracco 15. Wendy Diaz 14. Joseph Anglim 13. Eric Hafemann 12. Julia Carter 11. David Wright 10. Kelley Wentworth 9. Daniel DaSilva 8. Ronald Clark 7. Aurora McCreary 6. Victoria Baamonde 5. Lauren O'Connell 4. Patrick Devens 3. Julie Rosenberg 2. Gavin Whitson 1. Christopher Underwood
I bet if Wentworth Aubrey Joe or David made it to the final people would be happy but since Chris made it its bad. Chris did more moves in a couple days than Gavin and Julie in 39 days. Dont hate the player hate the game.
He did more BIG moves. Which is still only two. Casual fans that don’t respect the integrity of the game don’t understand that subtle moves are what get you a win in 95% of survivor seasons - those are what make you a good player. Getting voted out third? Definitely would make you a bad player. Subtle moves are what carried Vecepia, Natalie White, Sophie Clarke, Todd Herzog, JT, etc to victory. Not completely relying on a theme to carry you to the end without having to worry about voting people out and strategizing, just being granted 1 on 1 time with the jury - he literally got rewarded jury time for being voted out. Relying on a theme doesn’t make you good. As Hannah Shapiro said - “He didn’t have to sit in front of a jury of people he betrayed, the thesis statement of Survivor.”
TheMurrmursonbottle But the thing is survivor is a SOCIAL experiment, not strategic experiment. Also he got to spend time with the jury for 30 Freakin days.
Legendary Singh You’re right, and Chris’ poor social game is what got him voted out in the first place, while Gavin’s is what carried him to the end. Gavin made key bonds on both tribes - Victoria, Lauren, and Kelley were huge numbers for him after the merge. He knew who to trust and how to keep his numbers until he no longer needed them. Chris didn’t. He told Wardog his plans to get Kelley out when Wardog didn’t trust him at all, and that’s poor social play. When he came back, social play meant nothing when getting him to final 3, it was just bs twists and challenge wins. I don’t get how the jury didn’t see that, and they should’ve got their heads out of their asses and had more empathy for Gavin and Julie instead of just seeing Chris as what they could’ve had like children.
What I Think Should've Happened On EOE Ability To Exile Someone Or Yourself To EOE So In-Game Players Can Interact With The EOE Inhabitants Or Have Two Waves Eliminating The First Batch Of Players Who Were There Before The Merge And The Second Batch After The Final 5 Four Players Remain One Will Return To Make It 5
Placements 18. Keith 17. Wendy 16. Reem 15. Aubry 14. Joe 13. Eric 12. Julia 11. David 10. Kelley 9. Wardog 8. Ron 7. Aurora 6. Victoria 5. Lauren 4. Rick 3. Julie 2. Gavin 1. Chris (I-)
Seeing Aubry and Wentworth get screwed over by players this season felt really fun to watch. Not because I dislike Aubry or Wentworth, but because it felt like a level playing field. Much better execution than Redemption Island, where Rob won.
Even though he caused lots of craziness Wardog was really underrated he orchestrated many epic blindsides in a way you could say he played like mike from David vs Goliath or like Sarah from Game Changers!
This season has grown a lot on me. I was just really disappointed when my top three favorite players from the season ended up being the three eliminated during the finale. Just successive gutpunches. Other than that, I enjoyed watching the season.
Bc Vic's smart, Gavin's a goat, and the only reason she said that was she was pissed he knew she was the one going so she was hoping to get him voted out. Outta spite. Gavin did nothing, he was NEVER targeted, and he was a puppet you pass around. Eric was his master, then Vic and Julia, then Wardog then Wentworth then Ron and finally Lauren who controlled him final 8 onward.
When I was a kid and first watched this season, I wanted Chris to win from the beginning and always had hope for him and when he won I thought he was the best winner ever. I realize now that most of the game, he wasn’t even in the game.
