OMG Jimmi, I'd forgotten what a gorgeous man he is, a great talent as well. It's rare to hear a voice like this in today's music. and that's sad isn't it.
Pitch perfect! Jimi was just amazing! What a singer and showman! One the best ever and such a nice guy. RIP on his 69 th birthday. Thanks for the music of my youth and adult life. You are missed.
I'm always hesitant to watch live performances of great songs, especially when there's lots of high notes. But this was a great surprise. Jamison had a phenomenal voice. You don't get many guys who can hit those kind of notes with that kind of control anymore. What a talent. Vocal dynamite.
I am still listening to Jimi in 2023 And intend to listen to Jimi, Survivor and Jimi's other CD's forever. I am obsessed with his voice. It sounds like he was a great guy. What a loss for his family and the rock community. Of course, Jim and Frankie's songwriting for Survivor is the best. And Jim's songwriting for Jimi's Crossroads Moment CD is also incredible. He was one of the best singers who sang with clarity. 🤩
Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow): "I had seen Jimi in Survivor and was very impressed. I remember going down to Tennessee to meet him and I really liked him as a person. He then came up to try out with Deep Purple. We did one song, I think it was 'Going Down' and he was so good I immediately stopped playing and just said, 'You're in!' He said, 'Don't you want to do more songs?' I said, 'No, you are so damn good, I know that you are perfect for the job.' We went out and celebrated at a restaurant. I was full of ideas due to his melodic, soulful voice, and he could improvise much better than a lot of singers I knew so he had every aspect I was looking for in a singer. Very, very nice guy. Very humble. Unfortunately, two weeks later, we were told he couldn't join the band. We never found out why. I think it had something to do with the management. I was surprised and saddened by what happened, and it was a mystery to me what had gone down. It was a bad moment for me. I rated him as one of the top singers in the country."
For those complaining about Frankie's backing vocals on a few of these other videos....all of the vocals are spot-on on this song/video. Absolutely perfect.
Dam he could sing and without freakin auto-tune. This is real singing. I miss Jimi. He was good when he sang with the Rock-N-Roll band Cobra! Harder edge but still. Totally Jimi.
SecretYoungLink007 yes Phil has a great voice, but the thing about phil is that he never started out as a singer, he was the drummer who got roped into singing, so i took that into account. No denying he is a great singer
Even though "Eye of the Tiger" was their greatest hit, Survivor had some truly great songs, and overall, they were generally underrated as compared to their contemporaries - but their music is/was varied, innovative and each song is uniquely memorable. I love them. "Eye of the Tiger" is the theme song that describes me and my life. It will be played at my funeral.
Jimi Jamison is really singing this almost perfectly.. sound almost like the studio version really a great singer.. like the guy.. like the voice..indeed that's singer who earned his regognition.. :) great person..
@@raiderfanlb It’s my view that Peterik was the principal and primary writer in most songs where he and Frank Sullivan shared songwriter credit. Why? Jim Peterik keeps on cranking out quality tunes with Pride of Lions, World Stage, Marc Scherer, and others. If you want any further proof of Peterik’s songwriting prowess, just listen to the songs he wrote for the late Jimi Jamison’s album “Crossroads Moment.” These are all Peterik songs. Then listen to any song Frank wrote since Peterik left the band. Given that, it becomes pretty clear to me that Peterik is the songwriter genius. Frank was a great guitarist as well as the lucky guy Jim Peterik chose to write with him - all the while giving Frank very generous songwriting credits along the way. Who do you think Sly called when he wanted a song for Rocky III? Sly was no dummy. Neither were those dudes from .38 special who kept on ringing Jim’s phone for more assistance in writing GREAT songs for them. On and on. I’m not trying to denigrate Frank in anyway. He was a great guitarist in his day. Frankly, one of the best I ever heard. I just believe that Jim Peterik was the principal songwriting influence. Read Peterik’s autobiography for more detail. It’s a great read.
"I Can't Hold Back" There's a story in my eyes Turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us I've been holding back the night I've been searching for a clue from you I'm gonna try with all my might To make this story line come true Can you feel me tremble when we touch Can you feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us This love affair can't wait I can't hold back I'm on the edge I can't hold back Your voice explodes Inside my head I can't hold back I won't back down Girl, it's too late To turn back now Another shooting star goes by And in the night the silence Speaks to you and I And now the time has come at last Don't let the moment run too fast I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us There's a story in my eyes Turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can't hold back I'm on the edge I can't hold back Your voice explodes Inside my head I can't hold back I won't back down Girl, it's too late To turn back now I can see you tremble when we touch Ooh, and I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us This love affair can't wait I can't hold back I can't hold back I can't hold back
They were the first band I ever saw live. They opened for REO Speedwagon. They were on this tour (Vital Signs 1983). I was 13 yrs old. What an incredible show it was!
Really Survivor Is The best: Marck, Stephan Ellis, Jim Peterik. Frankie Sullivan, And The beautiful Angel Jimi Jamison forever. RIP: Jimi Jamison And Stephan Ellis. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
If only I could turn back the time, I'll just stay in the 80's. The internet is not yet available for for everyone, Very few residential houses has a phone line and so on but life is so simple back then.
@@sKraat528 while Jimi is in with Steve as the best singers ever, Steve has a larger higher range. But Jimi was awesome. Wish he was still here. I got to see him in 2004 when they opened up for Styx who then opened up for Journey. Steve and Jimi has a tone that no one else can match. They can sing softly or rock with the best. Just fantastic.
i saw them on the "when seconds count" tour..it was an outdoor concert, it was excellent !!!!...i hope they do a reunion tour and a new album and tour !!!!
Yes he is, he's also the guy who wrote the theme song for Baywatch. Jimi Jamison is the man. John Bush who wrote "you got the touch" sang the Coors song "Tap the rockies"
I love this band..one of my all time favorites- all their songs touch you- real love songs and sexy ones at that..but his voice is great..fits most of them really well- plus real easy on the eyes..saw them in Orlando years ago..opened for Brian Adams but just went to see him,,primarily!
One of the greatest bands from the 80s and they still rock. And alot of there songs should have been hits that never made it to the radio. I could name bunch of songs that should have been hits
I really think so , even if i say lennon & paul mccartney are hard to come by but still jimi has that VOICE TONE that just makes you listen to him SO PURE
