Who's Still Listening 2024❤ Now The Roads Grown Long But The Spirits 💪,And The 🔥 Within Still Burns Alone I Take My Stand I Give You A Man Against The 🌎
Rest In Peace Jimi Jamison...the voice of AOR music...the man who took just an average song and turned it into a masterpiece....what a loss...he was the BEST....
@@stluciestrength It was the fourth track and the third single released from their 1986 album When Seconds Count. The song was originally to be included on the soundtrack to the 1985 film Rocky IV, but was ultimately cut from the final tracklist. The song did appear as a bonus track on the 2006 reissue of the Rocky IV soundtrack album, along with Survivor's two other Rocky-related singles - the #1 hit "Eye of the Tiger" (the smash hit from Rocky III) and "Burning Heart," which was the song ultimately chosen for the Rocky IV soundtrack and peaked at #2.
After being in a deep coma for over three months and fighting to make a recovery, this song gave me the strength to go on with my life.Fighting back hell on earth with this great song.
So are so right my friend. Great music regardless of the genre will always stand the test of time. After all these years I still find myself listening to this song almost daily, and always will!
I was one of Jimi's friends and he had a great gift; an awesome voice! I met him in Memphis when he was just 14 years old and I knew he was going straight to the top with a voice like that! Jimi, you are missed but your music is here to stay!!
Jimi voice was difinitely God's gift to us. He was chosen to be an amazing singer that he was. Jimi is a legend and his beautiful face and voice will never be forgotten. He will be forever walking in Memphis with his idol the Great Elvis Presley side by side.🥰🥰❤️❤️.
Thanks for sharing this. I love to hear things about a artist before they became famous. I,ve only heard beautiful things about him as being a good person. I wish that l could of met him and known such a great talented singer and a amazing man.👍👍❤️❤️💋.
Jimmy Jamison ( rip ) the greatest vocals of all time ... he had it all a powerful vocals ...good looks ... great songs .... but unfortunately gone too soon ..... A legend
Just listened to this great song again. One of my favorites. The way Jimi sings it is like no one else can. His beautiful and powerful voice with the emotion and yearning in his voice is really unmatched. He just pulls the listener into his magic. When things get to be "too much", i just listen to his songs and everything else fades away. He is the best singer I've ever heard and it's tragic he's no longer here but he will live on in our hearts and the beautiful music he left us. We all love and miss you Jimi!
We will always miss him, and love him, Jimi was a beautiful human being not only physically he had a beautiful heart, his voice will live eternally with us 💕🎶
I totally agree,Only really got into Survivor a few years ago although I am 48years old!! Don't worry I wasn't living on another planet but It makes me realise how truly an underrated band they were.Their songs sounded like they were written last week and don't sound dated. CLASSIC ROCK.Plus RU-vid has helped me get into Melodic/AOR bands I'd never even heard of although I've always heard of Survivor but Eye Of The Tiger was their only song I knew.
@@adrianbradley8513 exactly the same with me my brother, even comparable age. As for only knowing eye of the tiger - last week on Australian tv one of the hosts on a evening show took the piss slightly in a joke about eye of the tiger being a one hit wonder... i thought to myself , little do you know that survivor has many songs better than eye of the tiger you fool.
Wow! Jimi's voice is so incredible. So much passion and feeling. He could sing soft or belt out the rockers he was truly in a class by himself. Few rock singers could ever compare.
Timeless rock ballad. Rest in peace Jimi. Such a mellodic voice that cannot be replaced by artists of today. 80s music was talent without too much of synth
Have you heard his band Cobra. Their 1983 album First Strike is awesome. Shortly after he was offered the Survivor gig and the rest is history. Jimi had such a unique and instantly recognizable voice. His “airy” tone is just beautiful. The songs “What Love Is” and “Looking At You” from the Cobra First Strike album are classic!
For me, this is the BEST Survivor song ever: the lyrics, the melody, the message, the voice, the conviction - you can feel all this in this song! Jimi Jamison's rendition will always be outrageous, incomparable!
I feel the same about Ever Since the World Began. Bickler did it first I think for the Rocky three soudtrack. Jimi did his own version for another Stallone film Lock Out. I wish I could buy a copy of Jimis version but the only one released any Survivor album is Bickler. Jimis version is just better. Jimi has a lower voice that can reach with power to the high notes in that song without going shrill and keeps the lower manly power as he goes. Bicklers is lighter, and a little less control when he hits the high nots. Tommy Shaw did a version later and the same thing. It is good and I love Shaw but his voice is also too high and loses the power and lower tone into the high notes that Jimi could carry.
What a great composer Jim Peterik and a great singer Jimi was. When this song in my ears i dont feel lonely in this world. Thank You Jimi for your great soul. We miss you so much. Hope to listen you in Heaven one day...
This song is nothing less than beautiful, and Jimi's performance is achingly powerful. Jimi, you were unbelievably gifted, and you leave a void that will never be truly filled. You didn't just sing because you could; you sang because you truly had the music within and that sincere feeling came through to touch the hearts of so many. I'm just so sorry one of the worst vices in existence took you away when you still had so much life yet to live. You were truly the rarest of gems. My heart goes out to you and to your family, and I wish you all peace.
I saw the Jimi interview here on You Tube where he discussed his love of music and how he felt it was a higher art form than any other. He felt music touches a spot in a persons sould that nothing else can match. He couldnt imagine doing anything else with his life than singing. It was everything to him and you could tell that because every song he ever sang sounded like he wrote it and it came directly from his soul.
jimi Jamison had a wonderful voice and survivor was a great band will always be remembered for the classic rocky soundtrack burning heart may he rest in peace
Jimi's voice was powerful and fit nicely with the heavier music with the bands Cobra and Target but when Jim Peterik sought him out for Survivor he unlocked the actual magic of Jimi's voice. The soaring ballads were perfect for the power and cry that is in his voice. He could play out the melody for long phrases that really allowed that cry in his voice to elicit emotions in the listener.
@@pilarmartinez9753 jimi lo tenia todo era como un paquete completo! Era sexy, lindo, simpatico, humilde, con sentido del humor, encima de todo tenía una voz tan hermosa🎤😍 capaz de enamorar a cualquiera.
Jim P. and Frankie S. blow me away with all the great songs they've written. And even though Jim P. is a great song writer on his own, I always felt that when he collaborated with Frankie that it raised him to an even higher level. And what can you say about Jimi J's voice, just incredible! It is so sad that he's gone. He left us way too soon.
some voices are beautiful, others are technically perfect, but there are very few voices that can make you feel so much with every note they hit, take your ability to speak because you know you will cry if you open your mouth.thank you for everything you gave us jimi
You can't beat Jimi Jamison's voice. It is addicting. Perfect on ballads and a great rock singer also. Love all of his songs on Survivor CDs and his personal CDs. Listening to this man's voice every day. He was beyond magical. ❤
This magical song is a metaphor for all those who have to climb the biggest mountains alone. Sometimes we all feel like a man against the world, or a boat against the tide.
If i was given a chance to go back in time.. I will definitely choose the timeline where Jimi Jamison was still alive.. way back then were the music are very soulful unlike today
Jimi your amazing voice soars to the heavens. When you sing this song. They don't write songs or sing songs like this anymore. I give you a Man Against The World the great Jimi Jamison. This will for me be your song eturnaly. Your voice soars to the heavens when you sing this song. So beautifully sung it still gives me chills even in 2022. I wish that you were still here 💔💔😭😭😭🕊️🕊️❤️🔥❤️🔥🎤🎤🎶🎼✨✨
Amazing. Freddie Mercury did the same with his last hit Show Must Go On. In Freddie’s case he did so even though he was dying from AIDS. In fact, his condition was so dire he can barely stand and was in constant pain. But once he sang his voice remained powerful and clear. RIP to both of them
Great song and a great band. Very underrated. Such a powerful voice. Was very sad to hear he passed away a while back. Will miss any new music they would've put out but will always listen to all the great songs they gave us.
Thank you for for sharing your beautiful voice with the world! Thank you for all of your visits back home to Attala and Holmes County Mississippi! We love you and miss you! Rest In Peace my friend!
One of the most underrated singers, not to mention, bands. Starting at 1:40, one of the best bridges to a song. Perry is rated as one of greatest singer's of rock, yet Jamison's talent is equally impressive, on all counts. Tone, emotion, range, song writing ability, frontman, and on another note, blessed with that angelic, beautiful face. Jimi you left us way too soon, you are missed.
Yea, I was just thinking of the same thing ... the beautiful vocal talents of yester-years ... how come we don't have these anymore!?!!! And, indeed, Jimi Jamison did have a beautiful face!
Perry is great. But this guy (whoever he is) sings more effortlessly even in the highs. Dynamics are great. Though perry's vocals are more distinct. This guy probably is better and his vocals aren't tested yet in this song. Would be nice to see him sing Nessun Dorma hehehe
I never knew he passed away until 3 weeks ago. Jimi had an amazing voice. Man against the world should have been a top 5 in my book. lot better than the crap that is out there now
I love this song, Jimi Jamison of Survivor and Steve Perry of Journey and Lou Gramm of Foreigner were the best vocals of the 80's hands down! Rest in Peace Jimi
Agree. Male vocal powerhouses. I would keep Perry at the top of that list though as I think that is the best male rock voice - EVER. Jamison was very good. Doesn't quite have Perry's power and falsetto, but he's serviceable!! Lou was a beast!! :)
Hi Shirley I'd recommend prophet TB Joshu's channel emmanuel tv to you . With Jesus Christ , distance is not a barrier . Search for testimonies as people pray along with him via tv , computer to confirm and build you belief . As he is used as an instrument by God, he'll do same for yo and your son emmanuel.tv/media/videos
These guys take the 1980s Arena Rock to its highest level. It's sad that this truly inspirational band has been somewhat forgotten. Their songs are timeless, and badly needed in a world and a land that seems to have lost the overcoming spirit that is desperately needed now, as it always was.
Great Voice,Great Sounds the best american rock of 80'....the soundtrack of many unforgettable moments. Thank you Jimi, goes with the light. Rest in peace
A cool note from the liner notes of one of the greatest hits compilations - They had Jimi lay down the vocals first, expecting to do multiple takes - as is normal. However, after the 1st take, Peterik said "we're not getting a better vocal than that" so they went and put instruments around the vocals and that's a wrap!
Wow Jimi was so good at what he did. He was a beast his voice was so amazing. I wonder if he ever knew how good he really was 😂😂. Knowone did it better than Jimi Jamison knowone. 2021 A Ledgen.
I seldom say this : This song is Sooooooooooooo UNDERRATED. I had to discover it on RU-vid a year ago as I never heard it on the radio. The quality of this melody is very high and ''Man Against The World'' should be amongst the 80s classics. What a piece of gold this song!
I also had discovered it just yesterday 4/20/18...from someone who did an awesome cover, (nailed it) didn't know who sang it originally then realize it later it was Jimi Jamison & Survivor, what a great song!...been listening to it many times since then...hehehe
I remember hearing this from their When Seconds Count album, thinking this was one of their best from it and it was going to be a hit. Well that didn't happen, but I believe it's a fan favorite. My sis went to see them in concert in 1987 and told me everyone was crying when they performed this song.
‘All the people cheer till the end is near And the hero takes a fall And they get drag you through the mud You’re only flesh and blood’ 1:00 - 1:22 lines so relatable I get emotional listening to it
Its sad but foretells what happened to Jimi. When his death was announced it was attributed to a heart attack. After the tox report it went to meth damage. Now people were dragging him through the mud and calling him a druggie. He was only flesh and blood like all of us. I am sure he had stress and demons and especially the struggle to maintain his weight so he would still be the rock idol of his younger days. He loved to eat and it must have been hard to keep weight down as he got older as we all find out. There was pressure to look good and keep performing at a high level, he wouldnt have settled for less so that could have led to him feeling he had to take something to help.
The song is beautifully crafted. Love the lyrics especially "a brand new day will shine through the avalanche of time." So much struggle, hope and strength of human spirit in one song. Epic!
How did i live through the 80's & not know who these guys? No Excuse!......Except for all the other great hair bands of the 80's. Sorry Survivor i'm enjoying you now better late than never! Thank you for your great contribution!
I'm definitely that man that walks alone like a man against the world in the middle of the night. After all the hell I have to go through each day, it worries me in the night and I just have to think things over. But you bet every day is a new day for me to pick my head up and keep fighting through it cause it's all worth it. I'm gone get my reward and won't let this mean and nasty world we live in stop me. I will "Rise Up back on the street, rising up to the challenge of rivals." ✊🏾
Thank You so very much for that uplifting message. You can do it to! Don't let anyone stop you from doing what you want to do in life. You take every chance you got and push through it. I hope to see you someday to. Who knows?? You might see me sometime. I'm planning on joining the military. Oh and btw, I'm 2yrs younger than you. I will be 18 in March.
Well hey, "The sky is the limit." And nah. I'm joining the Air Force. Also, do you have a Facebook or something that I can keep in contact with you?? You seem like a good person to have as a friend.
For some odd reason I can't find you on there. Try adding me if you don't mind. My name is the same as on here. And I have an Atlanta Falcons profile pic.
JaQuayvius Deonte Riley same man, life's hell and to many people are afraid to sacrifice themselves for something worth while, like running event for homeless shelter people and putting your money down and running until you almost die for food for someone else idk about you but that's worth it to me. I be like Jesus and put my self on the cross for someone who is suffering more than me. So my point being to help people when your weak that's something to do and feel good about.
Jimi spent many years wanting a divorce, she always denied him, when he died he was just weeks away from finally getting the divorce he wanted so much, and life surprised him, and he couldn't see that day!😢
Listening to him ...the more I missed the 80s....I've always love this song then and now .... The man.The voice. The band....SURVIVOR....is the best ...because of JIMI JAMISON...sorry but I loved them then when Jimi is there vocal lead .......
I didn't even know this song existed until I bought a Survivor album for "High on You" it's one of my all time favorites. This song was on there and I wondered, how the hell it stayed so hidden. This should have been a No. 1 hit. It gives me chills. Especially beginning at about 2:40. I would guarantee a standing ovation from a stadium of 100,000 for a performance such as this.
Jimi's vocals are out of this world here. God his voice can move you and take you away. Not too mention the stunning visual that he is. Just beautiful. Am I biased? Of course...there will NEVER be another Jimi Jamison ever...He was too SPECIAL. I still miss him every single day💔💔💔💔💔
i am 51 so yeah i loved him too. i have found another amazing man and that voice that moves you...his musical talents are unsearchable and definitely not hard on the eyes. you remember Billy Joel? ..he picked this guy out himself ... his name is michael cavanaugh... he is doing another LIVE show tonight on Facebook at 7:30 easten 4:30 pacific I would not exaggerate or play with emotions.. check him out...he really is good
