It's fine to remember the terrible events of the past so we don't repeat them, however, let's not get stuck there.

Lived in Tulsa for 5 years. Two years directly the other side of the freeway from that graveyard. That cemetery was always very very unsettling to me riding my bike past it. Later driving past it. It did not feel like a cemetery. Even in 1995 - 2000 when I lived there.....it was whispered. No one EVER came out and deliberately said "Race Riots" or "Race Massacre" BUT There was still a thought of hostility even in 1995. Seemingly the wealth gap of the late 90's was opposite of most cities. African Americans had the nicer homes, nicer neighborhoods, etc in the "Gilcrease" and northern spaces of town. And folks did not like that at the time I moved there. It was there even as recently as 1995 - 2000. But no one ever said anything out loud. Again it was whispers. Little here and a little there. And that cemetery was one of those constant whispers. A whisper turned reality. And I have a definitive answer as to why the cemetery was so uncomfortable to be near or in.

This is no secret it has been known for years. Many people never paid attention in school. In order for our rights to be respected, we must respect the rights of others.

100 years is really not that long ago. Obviously AMERICA has not learned the lessons of racism. Reparations are a must!

The city can set up a college fund for their descendants at the very least or money for black businesses. The survivors for sure should receive something.

Respirations are great and are well deserved but I wish black Americans would stop looking for the country that put them in this position to come and save them.

Reparations are bullshit, beyond all the "who receives & how much" who pays is an even worse situation. Seriously, only direct descendants paying for their ancestors supposed crimes or ALL current citizens of Tulsa... be real.

My step-grandpa, who’s a life long racist and 82, said he worked with an old guy, when he was in his 20s, who helped dispose of the bodies. This guy bragged about this to my grandpa because as I said he’s a racist and the guy thought my grandpa would find it interesting. According to him this guy said a lot of the bodies were just trucked to the nearest bridge and dumped in the Arkansas river. This makes since to me, I don’t think white people back then would bother digging graves even mass graves, atleast for everyone. It also sounded like at first, from the recounted story, that people were just taking on themselves to get rid of the bodies, and most only knew of one way to dispose of a body quickly. Sadly, I don’t think many of the victims will ever be found, perhaps the original intention of the disposers.

Why don't all the descendants of the families that were taken off the Earth due to this hatred come together as one and file a lawsuit and get your property return back to the rightful owner and get your reparations as well

I am a Caucasian woman living in Canada. I found it extremely difficult to watch this video. It made me furious to hear of this terrible and devastating event for the first time on RU-vid! I've got a minor in History as part of my university degree, and part of my course load dealt with American and North American history. How is an event in History that is so significant left out in order to tell (in my opinion) so many useless facts . Ugh... How can humans treat eachother in these ways??????
