The reason she was judged (without people realising) is because she is autistic. Undiagnosed autistic people (especially women) mask and mimic "normality". She was very brave for getting up on the stage and show her talent. Many autistic people become introverted due to bullying.

Susan Boyle had to work and care for her mother who eventually passed away. Susan decided to pick up her old dream and the rest is history. Great reaction as always AB!❤

This performance was so huge. I don’t know if we said viral back then but it went viral. I was travelling in Britain at the time and there isn’t anyone that wasn’t talking about it. Then a month or so later when I was back home, they made us watch it at a work conference. 😄 Truly a magical moment.

I used to see Susan quite regularly in a restaurant that I used to work in , in Falkirk Scotland, what a lovely humble woman she is, very down to earth no airs or graces with her at all.

Susan has Asperger's which was diagnosed after this audition but she has built a solid singing career. The song here was from the play and movie Les Misérables. Oh my goodness I love the look on your face!! This is one of the best auditions ever! 😊 My aunt showed me this when I went to visit her after my mom passed. I am so glad she got to see Susan perform before she passed too.

She came back for round 2 and eventually came in second. She has had a huge recording career. Her net worth is reported to be over $45 million. She supports various charities. They later figured out that she is on the autism spectrum or whatever they call it over there. She lives a very low key life much like she did before all of this happened. She has purchased the council house that she grew up in. In the UK "council housing" is the same basic idea as "the projects" in the US.

Piers said that by the time Susan walked on stage they'd been there about eight hours and EVERYONE was terrible so they weren't expecting anything at all especially when she was going to sing one of the hardest songs on Broadway. If you watch Simon once she started singing I don't think he could have stopped smiling if you had put a gun to his head.

So many people said the same thing about the Disney thing. She has never done that but she has made many albums and made millions.

SHE ACTUALLY GOT THE CHANCE TO SING A DUET WITH ELAINE PAIGE.

She finished in 2nd place that year and has gone on to sell more than 20 million albums in her career, only 2nd to any BGT act behind Collabro (whom you need to react too as well!). You should hear her version of "Wild Horses" on "AGT: The Champions!" How BGT works is different than AGT. There are now 4 judges (Simon & Amanda have been there since the beginning), but back in 2009, all you needed was 2 out of 3 judges to give you a "Yes," but it didn't mean you advanced to the live shows but were in contention. Then, after all the auditions aired on British TV, they did 5 consecutive nights of semi-finals, where the public takes over on the votes and it's 10 acts per night and only two acts advance to the finals, the act that received the most public votes and then the judges decide upon acts in 2nd and 3rd place which act advances. Those air LIVE between Monday & Friday nights. Normally, the finals are held on that Sunday with only an hour or so for the public to call (before the internet took over) in their vote and later that night, they revealed, in reverse order, how each act placed. OH, ps - earlier today, I saw your reaction to Gabriel Henrique do his cover of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing," and now you should react to his appearance this year on AGT (he gets the "Golden Buzzer" from one of the judges doing his cover of "Run To You" - a MUST REACT!!!).
