Your Stevie is amazing! I am humbled by your talent, patience and creativity. Honestly you are a wonder. I have long wanted to make a collage quilt, one of my own, not just someone else's pattern. I believe I will start small though, like an 8" square, ha ha. Susan you are an inspiration and your videos are a great resource. You have a lovely voice and kind presence. Congratulations on your achievement.
Lovely to hear the whole story, from the inspiration of your boy's bedtime stories to her finished state at shows. She really is a wonderful work of art.
I love all of your collage quilts. Definitely want to pursue this style of quilting - although I'm certain that I'll never take on something as big as your Crocodylus Smylus. Is there any step between the stage where all of the pieces are glued to the foundation fabric and the sandwiching & quilting stage? No need to do any stitching to hold the pieces in place before the quilting happens? I'm assuming then that these are wall quilts not intended to be washed. And do you always do free motion quilting at the end? An overall design? Or is the design also dependent on the artwork? You mentioned changing the variegated thread colour in various areas of the quilt. Just wondering about the actual quilt designs & size of the designs. Do they need to be very small in order to hold all of the tiny pieces in place. I would really appreciate your feedback. I want to attempt something small first before taking one of your classes.
Thank you for Sharing your story it is inspiring Especially when we have our own works of art that we feel are taking way too long, it’s definitely worth taking the time and creating your own masterpiece
