One of my favorite things to do is to look for owl pellets, sanitize them, dissect them, clean the bones they contain, and then figure out what kinds of animals the owl ate. (By the way, owl pellets don't come from owls' rear ends. Rather, they are undigested fur and bones that the owl ejects out of its mouth. So... closer to vomit, I suppose. But fabulous!)
I'm pretty sure this pellet came from a great horned owl, because of its shape, size, and the prey it contained. Also, I found it in an area that usually has great horned owls, rather than barred owls.
