Police are still waiting to question a man in hospital on suspicion of murder for a 14-year-old boy who was killed in a sword attack as he walked to school in northeast London yesterday.
Susanna questions Kemi Badenoch on whether swords can be included in upcoming legislation to ban certain weapons and if the legislation can be moved up. Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch says the possibility of bringing forward legislation to ban certain weapons including zombie knives 'might be something that we should look at again'

pointless banning swords. can just buy an axe from homebase for cheaper. the reason banning guns has worked is because there's no cheap alternative for a gun that you can buy at your local hardware store. but with knives and swords you can always get kitchen knives or replace a sword with an axe. need some common sense here.

There will always be knifes, I have a few in my kitchen,its been said on another news report he'd not long been released after being arrested for carrying a knife, he had hadn't been released he wouldn't of killed a child

I live in the area too! I was so shocked. I missed it by about half an hour so I went down to Hainault station and saw all the emergency services there. I live on Limes Farm and as you probably know there’s an alleyway at the top of the road he started on (was either Laing Close or Thurlow Gardens). What worries me is imagine if he did his attack an hour and a bit later and went into limes farm and got up to the school. I dread to think what could have happened in that scenario.

I’ve been a kenjutsu practitioner for about 13 years, and I have a friend who does HEMA and iaido. What about us? Do we just have to give up our martial arts? And how about re-enactments? Movie prop production? I’m going to assume Tory fencing rapiers and epees will be exempt from this blade cull, too? Seems like a pretty myopic move. I don’t always agree with a Tory, but this constant incessant need to ban absolutely everything superficial in order to address far deeper issues is getting a wee bit outrageous. If people want to hurt people, they’ll do it, knives or not - will be ban hammers next? Crowbars? Ladles?

No law will stop all crime ,but it can have an effect on it . We have imported a lot of criminals and this has had a follow on effect on the indigenous (up to seventies ) population .

Even when the police arrest these knife carrying youth and they are brought to court the judges let them off. People need to be taken off the streets if they are caught with these weapons. Armed robbery, domestic violence and a range of offences are not dealt with appropriately by the courts.

As usual the GM presenters come across poorly. Kemi makes the valid point that no matter how many laws you have on knives people will break them so enforcement is the key. The Police struggle to deal with online fraud and illegal sales. Does anyone believe Susannah actually went online to buy a sword? Bet it was a researcher. Richard as usual has to be the star of the show and threw a hissy fit when he was not getting his own way. Who would be a politician? They get paid far less than the hissing preening presenters for far more hassle.

Well done Susanna for pulling her up on knife crime stats. There is an obsession amongst the Tories to make out that London is the worst place in the country for knife and gun crime which is not true. They are in charge of the crime legislation, parole and probationary service, judiciary, prisons and rehabilitation and many other services that could have an impact on crime in this country but resolutely refuse to do so! There are many causes of crime but the main cause of the ruination of our country lies at the feet of the Conservative Party.

Police drones patrolling the town using AI & operator to detect weapons / crimes might come in handy. The technology was there years ago but seems like people are content to live in cavemen times. Also what's all that super defensive bs she is saying "to say that politicians are lazy is not true" she's not there to defend her colleagues ffs, she's there to do a job for the people of the UK so she needs to stop defending her ego and start taking advice and work on ideas and solutions.
