Tool Dude completely replaced the stock suspension on his Clark Hammock with a light weight, no-knot, quick set up with Whoopie Slings, Tree Straps and Dutchware. Check it out in HD.

@hercfamily --- It's fun to aim your headlamp toward your setup on a pitch black night and see the lines light up. Plus it is rough and really holds a prusik knot.

@nholly86 -- It is 138" in total. I have it currently set to 132". This is specific to the CJH and would not be a good length for something else, like a blackbird. Consider that the actual length you'll need depends on how long you make the closed loop extensions. They extend well beyond the length of the hammock. Good luck with your mods.

@thecyr - True. But worth every penny with the increased functionality and the elimination of the fiddle factor.

@ian2958 --- The biners Dutch sells out of Outdoor Trail Gear are Mini Ridge Biners and are not capable of supporting a hammock suspension. He also makes a larger Biner for hammock suspensions that he sells out of Jack's Are Better's store. These will hold 400 lbs each. Those are the biners I'm using. Check out Jack's.... Thanks

Thanks for walking us through your setup. I look forward to trying it out. I especially like how you have reincorporated the tarp, instead of totally separating it. The top line is also a good idea. With your weight in the hammock, do you find it easy zipping it up completely at the top? With the alternative setups, I have found that the top of the weather shields is pulled toward the tree ends and will not close.

Great mods man. I'm planning the same thing for my Blackbird.

Great setup ! Dutch says the biner is only for the ridgeline. You suspend the hammock as well so it has to take the full load. Have you noticed any wear and tear ?

your suspension setup is pretty awesome. This is my first year of camping/hiking/hunting. I just bought the clark nx250. I'm not smart enough to figure out what you've done, but I'd sure love to know how to set that up

I'm 5' 6" and have the NX 200 which is the same size as the NX 250. It just doesn't have the hoops. I can't imagine having the smaller hammock. That's just my preference. I don't have any instructions only the video on how to do this suspension mod. Sorry

Nice video Tooldude, I'm thinking about the Clark NX-150 or NX-250. Which would you recommend? Also, I like your suspension set-up, do you have step-by-step instructions and information you could pass on. Thanks, The Thinker
