You have landed in my country, and must face the rules and laws here, not a tourist exemption cuz you are upset about the search. Try that in a harsh country, and you WILL spend a lifetime waiting for your trial.
We should also be concerned about our luggage being extra secure when we are travelling overseas to foreign countries. A lot of luggage has been tampered with at airports where drugs have been planted in suitcases. I only travelled with a small hand bag and an overnight bag when I travelled overseas. I would buy clothes and shoes on the cruise ship or when I arrived after the plane landed. I would give them away to the staff at the hotel where I was staying when it was time to travel back home. I have always travelled light. That way you don’t have to worry about your things being stolen or tampered with. I like my personal things on me and with me at all times.
Giving stuff away is certainly more pleasant than being robbed. But buying new things on every trip just seems a bit over the top, unless you have someone paying it for you.
That’s VERY unlikely that anyone would take that drastic of a step. You’re taking valuable time out of your vacation, you have the total aggravation of buying (most likely way more expensive) clothing (and can you just waltz in and find your size and something you actually like? I can’t), pay big taxes, and then have to get it all to your hotel? Then you have to do the same thing with any non-clothing items too? And the hotels I’ve been at don’t want you discarding clothing and junk in THEIR trash because now they have to pay, which ultimately increases your room rate. Sheesh. Just get good luggage locks and stay aware by NOT ever leaving your items alone in an airport.
