I love my Suzy, bought her in 2013 with 60k miles for 6000. She's a SX but not premium or AWD. I still drive her today. She's got 180k now. Regular maintenance and she's Bullet proof. She loves staying at 80 mph and always ready to race late model civics and Corollas. She's not the prettiest or the fastest but she gets the job done!
@@mellowoutman4516 right now that seems like a good deal for anything that is running and driving. I don’t know about rust issues because we do not salt our roads here, so that might be something to take a look at. The all-wheel-drive system is really not the best but I’m sure that it would help out more than a front wheel drive system. I always recommend a pre-purchase inspection. Good luck!
I own a sedan 2002 aerio and it’s my first car and I love it so much I bough it for only 300$ and put a pullley on it for 30$ and it runs f Perfect if you want a cheap reliable car get one of these
I have that same 2.3 engine. I put it in to replace the 1.8 engine in my 1998 Suzuki Sidekick Sport. Its a Decent motor and aside from some high temp issues (turned out to be a heater core) It's been a good runner. I'm a little late to the party (watching this a year after it was published) and I hope you still have it.
Would love to buy it been looking for a Suzuki for a while. I totaled my 2003 Suzuki aerio last year but in my opinion it's one of the best cars I've ever driven.
Hey I’m in Eugene Oregon, I have a 2003 ex AWD with 156k miles, wife has owned it since 30k miles. Getting it cleaned up to sell message me if really interested
I had a Liana 1.6 manual transmission - RHD (I am a UK citizen) - great car. Sadly, a wreckless driver pulled out in front of me leaving me zero time to stop, and he car was written off. Lianas are pretty good cars, not too complicated, well made and comfortable.
@@BadIdeasGarage I'm OK thanks. I did get a severe cramp in both calves and had to walk with crutches for several days, but no bones broken..! If that crash had not happened I'd still be driving that car now - it was low mileage and in excellent condition, economical to run and fault-free mechanically.
I have the liana which is known as aerio in u.s, i love it to pieces i cannot part with. By far the best most reliable i have had i had quite a few. All electrics work, engine is solid i have 1.6 M16a petrol which loves being revved to death. I serviced it every 2-3 years. It now as 184k miles. Im planning on getting it back on the road as it is sat doing nothing in my dads yard at the moment.
This one also really liked revving! So cool. Is yours manual transmission? This one had the very boring automatic, but still, a pretty fun car for what it is. Thanks for sharing!
@@BadIdeasGarage mine is manual 5 speed, i have the 2004 108bhp without VVT. Its very nippy, i dont have much problems keeping up with my buddies 1.9 PD110 golf on the highway. I can literaly redline it like a ferrari or lambo when stationary. Could i ask? .. do you know anything about the key barrel issue ?. One time it stalled out and i couldnt hear the fuel priming up when i attempted to restart it. Some americans on the aerio forum facebook said theres a common issue with gunk build in the key barrel and stops power to the fuel pump. The starts up now like nothing happened but i cant use until i fixed it incase it happens again, i dont want to WD40 in the barrel because that could clean the grease from the contacts ask become a fire risk.
I'm honestly surprised it didn't have cruise I have a 05 AWD manual SX it's got everything and cruise. Only thing it doesn't have is the heated seats which are what those tabs are for the a Europe option. I did add my own heated seat for those Saskatchewan winters
What's your average mpg or l/100km . I am considering buying a 05-06 sedan manual AERIO or a 08+ SX4 sedan sport - only manual too - . SX4 should be better on gas - smaller engine and 6-speed vs 5 - . Supposed to be my delivery car here in AB .... no need the AWD , just FWD would be fine . I got sick of the YARIS - I am at my 4th one all manual 4 doors hatch - ... not of its stellar reliability though ! I know that none of those 2 will come close to the YARIS fuel economy - my best was 5.2 l / 100km city driving - but they both should have a bit more punch particularly the 2.3l AERIO and the handling should be much better . YARIS handling is totally numb
I spent some time driving a Yaris rental in New Zealand and it was really not my favorite at all. With the AWD, this one wasn't the best on fuel...around 7 or 8l/100km.
Not a Subaru, much better then a Subaru, I bought a new 2006 Suzuki Aerio brand new in late 2005, Still going strong, it’s the best car I’ve ever driven in the snow. In the meantime my sister is on her third Subaru
Great video ! I know you sold it but would you say the 2.3 was a good motor? Hard to find parts for?? . How was the performance and how gas mileage wise
Yes! Loved how easily it revved. It felt faster than it was. It has a timing chain so less to maintain there. Parts were easily to find online and some local yards had body parts so it wasn’t bad!
Dang I want this car sooo bad! I can't find it anywhere! It's such a shame all the good cars are international, meanwhile we're stuck with gas hungry SUV'S and very little compact cars. I have a question I haven't found a clear answer is the side impact safety on the SX and SX premium, and would you still recommend this car? I'm in love but I don't want love to blind me lol
With any older car or smaller car, safety is certainly a consideration. I looked up the side impact ratings and they are not the best...I didn't realize that till now!
@@lunagaia8723 it's my first! But i do have a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara,so it's my second Suzuki. With almost 12 years of owner ship and almost 200,000 miles, body ugly but the engine, transmission and 4x4 are still good and it's are winter ugly back up car :)
Hey I actually own a Suzuki and I've been fixing it up but one thing I can't find is the aux port. do you know if it has one. I have the same one as the one in the video.
I own a Yellow 2003 Suzuki Aerio Hatchback Base model. I hate how the Driver seat is high up, there's no knob or adjustment control to lower the seat. I also hate how it's tall I feel like I'm driving a Van or a Crossover, the Interior was cheaply made and Suzuki definitely cheap-out when they made this car. I've had mine for almost a year I'm in the process of wanting to sell it so I can buy an older model Corolla with a Manual Transmission.
I don't know where Aerio's owners here bought them, but where I live these cars and the SX4s are literally garbage. Once I was looking for one of them to buy it used (because I like Suzukis in general) and 90% of them had blown engines, broke transmissions, electrical problems, etc. The majority of them didn't even reach the 100k miles, and people were selling them under a grand.
Oh, well, where do you live? We don’t really have many of them here in Oregon, but I thought the reputation was OK. I didn’t know that even within models, there are several different variations of engines and transmissions. I thought the one that we had an ours was OK, but the transmission was pretty awful.
