Don't ever feel that you are totally alone or different in your feelings when at the old sacred places, Dickie. There are many of us that know exactly how your feelings and thoughts run at such times, so it's good and quite understandable that you speak about such things. 👍
Truly amazing video Dickie, better then anything on offer on the TV. ( I know that's not saying much these days ) I Found all of that Informative, soothing, compelling and wonderfully reflective. I am not a religious man but the spiritual feelings some places evoke can not be denied. Thank you for evoking them for us and giving me some destination places to aim for in the spring/ summer. (not least for those fantastic looking pubs too😉)
Thanks Barry.. Those are really kind words …I totally agree that TV is mostly a mixture of mindless crap and propaganda nowadays..Good ol RU-vid if not great is at least real..Take care 👍
I found this fascinating Dickie, im glad Sandy put me onto you and you saved the best till last but whole video was so interesting, particularly the Historical stuff, makes me want to visit Wiltshire, thanks for doing this type of thing, ill definitely stay tuned for more .
Thanks for taking us along Dickie, love watching the videos of the little villages and places you go ,all the history is very interesting. I know the feeling you get when you go to certain places and it seems for whatever reason there is a connection to that place, some are good feelings and some not so good. Cheers from Australia
Hi Wayne… we’re definitely not short of little villages over here 😄 Around my area you can’t really travel without seeing ancient features.. Some obvious some not so.. You’ve just got to know what your looking at..Take care mate 👍
I think you’re right Dickie that there is some sort of universal force that the ancients new about and located there spiritual, healing and worshiping site where these forces were prominent. Even today these forces can be sensed and used by spiritual and reiki healers. Stones, trees and nature are really good at leaving you with a sense of wellbeing and recharged 👍
Well Dickie - I too love the old churches and trees are so GOOD. It's a shame that the religeous leaders are not often as good as the folk who built their stone buildings and who tend the church yards.
Agreed…Visited St Mary’s in Fairford today.. Just up the road from me.. Amazing church if your ever in the area .. Full set of 20+ 600 year old windows and some interesting stuff taken from an abbey when Good ol Henry 8th burnt it down..We’ll worth a visit..
I live on the edge of Sherwood Forest and there are some really old Oak trees there which are all catalogued. The oldest is believed to be around 1000 years old, but i didn't realise that Yews could live as long as they do. Great video and very interesting.
You've done it yet again, hit this out the park.. in creditably informative.. you were on the Priest's Path as well. Serenity.. state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled.. there is a place... easier said than done. What is Life, don't worry man, Everybody Else is Crazy Too.. How's Mom. Peace & Grace. Cheers Davey
That was great, cheers, i used to go to all these places when i lived in wiltshire the energy from wiltshires ley lines is is very dominant and you realy do notice it in certain places , thanks for that atb!
Nice video Dickie . Love it out that way . Through there a lot in the wagon. Done a bit of camping and exploring. Tyres . I put Dunlop trailmax raid on my Africa Twin . Rate them .👍
Great video Dickie. Really interesting learning the history of Wiltshire... having just moved here. Not far from Tisbury, so I’ll race you to have a look at the ancient Yew tree there!
Worth a visit.. Carbon dated to 4000 years apparently..They filled the middle bit with concrete to stop people picnicking inside the tree..Seriously…Thanks for watching and ride safe 👍
Great video Dickie, very interesting. I know what you mean about sensing the energy of ancient places. I think this is something that is lost to many in this fast pace world of internet and technology and if only people stopped and slowed down, they could connect in ways we don't fully understand.
Hi , I remember the first time I walked the West Woods near Marlborough.. Amazing Aura and sense of peace emanating from it … I later found out it’s history and relevance and then it all made sense.. 🙂
Love that part of Wiltshire, with those rolling hills but not been to any of those places you visited, will check them out.l I've heard Steve Harley played in that pub
Thanks ..It was hanging in the balance what with trying to find the time etc. In the end just jumped on the bike spur of the moment and it all kind of came together weirdly 🙂👍
Hence forth I shall call that Yew, "Dickies Tree" :) A Very Evocative vlog Dickie. Here's an Idea, why not plan a motorcycle adventure which will link all the Important tree's, The Dicky Tree, The Tisbury Yew and the Mighty Fortingall Yew which some believe could as old as 5000 years! Very enjoyable, well done:) Sandy
Thanks for taking us along, Mr. Mint. It’s interesting that, in this instance at least, the stone was retained, if ‘hidden’. Was that because the newcomer religion/government didn’t want to rile the locals, or because they sensed/respected/feared the true powers that were already in that place? We can only wonder. Your round…
Nice little bimble. I've been to the church a few years back. Never understood the significance or the age of the tree, so thanks. Ps. You might want to think about pixelating your Speedo! 😜
Thanks for watching .. If you have time check the spring out.... Errm point taken.. Im normally pretty good regarding velocity control 😄..Did creep up a bit .. Just love those bends .. Take care 👍
Nice one, dicky. I thought that looked a bit like a Mill race, but if it is 4000 years old then I am totally wrong! Also I reckon that tree by The Long Barrow represents the living and The Barrow represents the Dead. They probably lie along the solstice sunrise and sunset lines from one another... Maybe?
Nice video. Always liked churches , but only because I admire the engineers that built them , and lovely places for peace and quiet reflection. Religion though in my view is just a product of human weakness and a source of pure evil . Caused nothing but misery and suffering and still does. Lovely tree . Had a good look around the Fortingall Yew up near Killin , but theres not much left of it now unfortunately. Smashing place though.
Hi dickie found your videos from Wiltshire man as with him all very well done and full of information and I’m now a regular subscriber and look forward to more, as you are having a bit of a tree fest check out the yew trees at Kingley vale near Chichester and as your a biker like myself should be a great ride down from Wiltshire, by the way me and my mate met you and sandy at a bike shop near the Aston market museum, we were on a Harley ultra and benelli had a great chat. Keep up the great videos
