Suzuki GS850 Budget Cafe Build #1 

I had your donor bike it was a whale with that fairing and bags but I loved it . Nothing beats those GS bikes . The 850 had torque like a tractor

I picked up a 79 gs850 few years back on trade it was rough but got it running and then life got in the way.....maybe I’ll drag it out of the barn

Nice...I think you’ll have to change the jets in the carbs after changing the air box and or exhaust set-up. It might work well only at certain temp or altitude/humidity but could be difficult to ride otherwise. I didn’t do this for the longest time and suffered needless frustration as it would ride well sometimes, and like crap on other days. Changed the main jet two sizes up and the ideal key one size up, and although I have a flat spot around 2000RPM its great otherwise. (but I’m on a Kawasaki 650, different nike but same principle9

Good choice, bud! Just picked up a '79 gs850g about a month ago with the same intention. For the most part the bike runs and all, but cylinder 3 has a nasty oil burn. I gotta pull the motor to see if it's rings or valve seals. Such fun. 😣
