I was told by my local Suzuki dealer they’ve taken deposits on 5 bikes already and they’ve got over 50 people waiting for test rides………If that’s true Suzuki have a bit of a winner on their hands.
People keep banging on about this & I agree, my preference is for symmetrical headlights (I have a CBR650R) - but apparently the asymmetrical thing is better for safety as it stops you being interpreted as a far-away car at night. The fact that your headlights don't fit a car pattern forces an oncoming driver to assess what vehicle you are & what they should do. Aside from that, is this really going to be what makes or breaks this motorcycle for you ? Really ?
@HahrtDood It's certainly symmetrical ! I think this bike is more handsome though. But the naked does have what I'd call 'good ugliness' if that makes any sense at all.
Nice vid & review. Really like this bike. Seems like quite a sporty sports tourer & could be a perfect all rounder. Sick to death of adventure bikes & would never buy one. Much prefer this style of bike for mile munching & very interested to see what the new Moto Guzzi V100 sports tourer is like too.
You have taken the words right out of my mouth. This type of machine is more me. It's very sporty but comfortable and looks great and very sleek [unlike bulky tall adventure bikes]. Looking forward to the new Guzzi V100 review as well.
Great value at the price point, however, 900 notes for panniers? To put it into perspective, around 8% of the price of the complete bike at mrrp. Manufacturers optional extras are simply extortionate. How is it Sinnis offer panniers and topbox for their latest adventure bike for just £250? The cost and markup on options just stinks.
Slightly surprised to hear the first impressions putting the GSX-S 1000GT as sportier than the Ninja 1000 SX. I rode the Ninja last year too and I felt it quite sporty. To me it even seemed like the kind of bike you could tour on but also take to a track day here and there. Glad that you're doing a comparison. I've a request: I'm really interested to hear a comparison between the servicing costs, especially the larger services.
Comparing the Z1000sx and the previous model gsxs f, the suzuki was the sportier of the two. So I feel like with the GT they were trying to keep that sportiness while taking some sales off kawasaki by matching the comfort and luggage carrying of the Z. Seems like they've achieved that!
Hancock delivers in less than 13 minutes an excellent and comprehensive overview of the GT instead of dragging it on for 20 minutes+ as other reviewers do. My only gripe here is with some of the weird sound editing .
@@chaiguyrides4134 That is not sport tourer by any means, it is fancy africa twin. I still drive honda blackbird xx and waiting for something new. It seems that I will go to kawasaki or suzuki, because honda forget how to make an interseting bike.
if only Kawasaki had a tractor of a sport touring bike that came with heated grips, traction control, was all kinds of comfortable and came with color matched panniers for a reasonable price...they should call it the concours, if they ever come out with one.
1:47 .. 11:59 yeah but £999 for two paniers is extortion. There is no valid reason for that. They cost 8% the cost of the bike on its own. It's what called "'avin' a laugh". ... You could either buy the bike, or twelve and a half sets of paniers for the same money.
Best Bike I have ever owned, Best Performance, Best Value in it's Class. That "Bulletproof" Engine is sensational. Leaves the BMW in the dust on both counts.
decades of riding high horsepower bikes. I mean it has been almost 30 years since I’ve had a motorcycle with less than 50 hp.. on an impulse I bought a Kawasaki Z 400.. it’s actually more fun. You have to work at it to maintain momentum on the back roads by staying off the brakes and maintaining your speed by cornering at higher speeds. You can’t just pull the trigger and get your speed back. It is so light, and because it is light it does not need 2 gyros/flywheels adding to the unsprung weight and making the machine harder to rotate left right, I’m talking about double disc’s in the second caliper and pads and hoses and bolts. That’s a lot of unsprung weight. Unsprung weight is so critical to handling and suspension that Porsche uses titanium Lugnuts on the wheels on for years.. I don’t mind getting 66 miles per gallon one bit. I also don’t get roasted in warm weather.. I wish a company like Suzuki or Kawasaki would make a 400 version of a sport tour with bags.. not everyone needs to have a machine capable of 140 miles an hour. I never go over 75. Never have on the public roads or interstate. Not even back when I was road racing or I won six road racing championships and was national champion two times in my class.
Bait and switch on the color options as far as I can tell here in the States. That beautiful MotoGP blue apparently will not be offered here, just the dark blue and black. Too bad.
I have just changed from a Sprint GT to an FJR1300 largely for the benefit of my wife's comfort However, 6coykd see me giving it a couple of years until Suzuki bolt on some more goodies as standard and get one of those
Thinking of tourer bike 🤔 and hoping Suzuki GSX1000GT to include Heater Grip, Center Stand & Adjustable Wind Screen (refer to Yamaha Tracer 9 GT was all-in) in order to get the highest sell & best Tourer bike of all. ✌
Nice vid VMV! some sweet shots there. Is the 1290 SD GT in the same class? of the 950 supersport.. ? H2 SX SE+.. I think there's more in the Sports GT market is all.
With all these bikes running a "digital " speedo / screen these days , i'm amazed that no bike manufacturer has thought of integrating an in house GPS to them yet
The Suzuki has GSX-S1000GT also has a quickshifter plus the 6.5 inch screen is bigger and has better inscreen apps (fullscreen navigation map, music app, telepone calls, sms messages, calendar, etc) and the Suzuki has the better engine (more powerful, more sporty). Go check 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT: Smartphone Connectivity video on Suzuki Cycles channel
How would you rate this against the BMW R1250RS? I currently ride a naked 2017 GSX S1000 and thinking about upgrading to a bike with better wind protection, comfort, suspension and throttle response - more suited for spirited sport-touring. I wonder if this GT is such a big step up from my current bike. Granted, the BMW costs more than the GT, but it also has adaptive suspension, IMU-assisted ABS, heaps of torque down low and little amenities like keyless go, shaft drive, centerstand. Would miss the roar of the K5 engine, but the BMW seems like a more complete bike.
You have a lot more aftermarket parts for BMW and better quality components. It is also not much more. You can get it for only a few grand more if you buy it a year or two old. IMO depends on your needs - for long touring/a lot mileage per year without a doubt RS.
Exactly my conundrum. I'm stuck between this GT and the R 1250 RS. I like the engine and sportiness better on the GT but the BMW like you said is more complete with keyless start, adaptive suspension, IMU ABS, DTC, etc. Can't make up my mind!
@@niravsurati2905 if it helps, life solved that conondrum for me: I test rode the new gen 3 Hayabusa and found it to be an amazingly comfortable and capable sports tourer. I will buy that one instead of the GT or the BMW. I wish you the best of luck for choosing, can't really go wrong here.
On a sport touring bike of this caliber, Suzuki should be providing a complete package in light of the competition. Skimping on items such as a center stand, an adjustable windshield and an accessory top box……. C’mon Suzuki. The dudes this bike will appeal to certainly will have the additional coin to throw at the purchase price.
Man these look absolutely amazing. I want a personal bike, I'm a motor so I ride on a R1250RTP all day. But I'm way too cheap to spend THAT MUCH money on a motorcycle. Especially when I see how much my department pays for maintenance on the damn things. I *may* pull the trigger and go put a deposit down on one as long as the local dealer's will waive their BS $1500 "Dealer mark up fee"
Lovely bike, but not a tourer just another sports bike with an upright riding position. If that's what you want then I don't think you'll go far wrong. New Honda NT1100 a better touring option in my opinion.
From the seat where I sit, the only downers I have so far is the ugly-ish face with single-beam-lit (seriously, when are we going to end this winky headlight thing forever?). Otherwise I think Suzuki has a real winner on their hands here. What experience I've had with this K5 engine, it really is one of the best flat-plane inline-4 out there, long-stroke, makes a great sound, has some character, is very torquey, is fuel efficient (for 150 hp). Glad they kept the weight just below 500 lb.
I think the blue is the only thing the Suzuki has over the Kawasaki ninja 1000sx? I need to test ride each though to decide. Was planning on getting the Kawasaki this coming summer until I found out about this Suzuki
not worried about lack of IMU, i dont ride like a dick, however, given the reputation of the previous pogo stick rear shock, id have rather had the money spent on a shock with remote preload
No comparison. The GSXS has a phenomenal top end and the Honda will just disappear in its rear view mirror. The NT1100 looks like a replacement for the VFR 1200X (parallel instead of the V4).
No ride no opinion, you can't judge the bike by your imagination and typing on the keyboard. The current model GSX-R1000 has the smallest headlamp on the market and it's the best illuminating headlight I've ever seen, go test one at night and then come back comment
I think I would be better off with the new Honda NT1100. Don't care about rev me to the Moon, inline 4's buzz bombs. Maybe if it had hydraulic lifters I would put up with it's manners. Buy and install the optional quick shifter and it's an almost 100% perfect motorcycle.
Yes, we all like it (look, sound...), but I don't think many will buy it. They should make it more upright riding position, like tracer or s1000xr with 17inch front wheel, similar weight, better wind protection, center stand and a top case as well. I would buy it in a second with this engine.
who has the patience on a motorbike ( or any vehicle) to sit on adaptive cruise control for any length of time ? very little percent . id personally never use it as your constantly adapting to progress up the road , if you want relaxed take the train
Can't see any problems as a two up sports tourer!!! Did you try it two up!? Where you on the pillion?!? After a few miles your arse would be raw as a pillion as the rear seat is tiny... Have you cashed your cheque from suzuki yet...
And the HORN. What's the HORN sound like..? Can it, the bike, be a heard..? My current horn is shoddy. Absolutely pathetic. TWO horns needed at least. Along with twin lights..!
I wouldn't buy one simply because it looks like it's got a broken headlight. Looks like a Yamaha FZS from 1998. For god's sake this is 2021. Sort the headlights out Suzuki!
Just needs an IMU, heated grips, cruise control, wider seat, better tires, more fuel capacity, better colors, center stand and a lower price, then I would say I would buy it but really woul
Well done Suzuki, finally another sport tourer (after Ninja 1000SX) on the market. On the paper 226kg and 152hp is what I was waiting for years from Honda. I am sure 1000GT will be a big success.
Won’t be getting rid of my H2SXSE anytime soon, but Suzuki seem to have done there homework and at that price it’s gonna give the other manufacturers a run for there money. Nice one Suzuki, mind you, it’s about time!!
@@seandavie3672 Hi Sean, I tested all manner of machines after deciding to upgrade my ‘04 Busa that I purchased new. The H2SXSE is nothing but brilliant, it’s extremely exciting to ride and to be honest it makes the Busa feel pretty tame! I’ve been all over Spain two up, fully loaded and even when getting a bit of a shift on, it still returned over 40 mpg. It’s really comfortable too, all in all it’s a bit of Kawasaki wizardry, silky smooth engine at all engine speeds, it’s got every electronic extra you can think of and it’s ultra reliable too! Good ol Japanese ay!…
The 0-60mph on the H2SXSE is almost as slow as the ZH2. A Hayabusa and ZX-14R with sidecases, both still ridicule the H2SXSE. 2021 Hayabusa > 2021 H2SXSE (0-60mph, quarter mile, dashboard) 2021 GSX-S1000GT > Ninja 1000SX Tourer 2022 Multistrada V4S and KTM Super Duke GT and Adventure S > H2SXSE (for 25k plus the H2SXSE has neither the electronics nor the riding aides nor the handling, nor in comfort, nor the high level of suspension of the 3 better sporty tourers and the H2SXSE has way shorter service intervals). H2SXSE and ZH2 (cool bikes) but claimed 200hp, but really around close to 170hp on the wheels on dyno and the power comes way too late (hence the bad acceleration times for such power) No way near of what the original H2 is in real world performance.
@@THEREALZENFORCE I owned a Busa for 14 years, loved it but wanted something modern with built in luggage etc… H2 SXSE is a masterpiece of Japanese wizardry and in the real world a far superior bike to the Busa and ZX14… 0 to 60 times are totally irrelevant when your touring Europe or everyday use!
Blah blah blah.....all these stats and numbers are just bragging rights for the pub! After more than 38 years of riding ALL sorts of bikes, and all sizes, in all kinds of weather and all kinds of riding styles, I can honestly say that there is absolutely NO need for a 1000cc bike for genuine sport-touring. Why do you need it? Seriously? I currently have a Yam 700 Tracer (since July 2020) and I have had my longest and best spins on it in all the decades I have been riding. I'm talking 300-400+ mile days, with no issues whatsoever (and that's with very few stops, too). If you think you need a bike like this for serious mileage and proper adventure rides on tarmac, then you've obviously fallen for the hype and the sales bullshit. Stop being a sucker! Save your money, and just buy the bike that does the job for you. Instead of spending £11k+ on bikes like this, spend just 4-6k on a decent 4 or 5 year old middleweight, and use the several grand you've saved to buy the proper gear and accessories that WILL make the difference to your trips! Don't be the mug who lines the pockets of the manufacturers and the ad-men....use your judgement and get the bike that works for you.
Could not agree more, very good point, very well made. Bravo! People need to realise the fun is in the riding of the thing not the “Willy waving” spec comparison in the pub.
Great comment. Unfortunately, most of us are susceptible to hedonic adaptation. Once we get what. we want, we then want something newer, shinier, blinger! And marketing men know how to press our buttons.
I kind of agree with you. I ride a Tracer 900 and its all the bike I am every going to need. I do however think the GSXS GT will put a bigger smile on my face due to the extra horsepower. Surly this is a big enough reason to spend 11k.
Friend of mine did 100,000 miles on a Ninja 250 after retiring from pro road racing. I know you don't need a liter, but I still prefer a liter. I bought a 2003 GSXR 1000 for sport touring. I wanted the big motor because I enjoy the torque, and inline four e fine.
Looks like the promise has been delivered. Pretty stupendous bike. I already stopped by my local dealership and the salesperson never even heard of it. Was also told Suzuk is really lagging on delivering inventory. Hope to have this in my garage by the end of summer - and I really don't mind waiting. Just to make sure, will be hopping on an SX and 9GT to see how they fit. But, man, what incredible choices we have! No real compromises in any of them. Looking quite forward to the head-to-head with the SX!
Be it by default of production limitations or strategic marketing, most manufacturers are manufacturing scarcity. These new “releases” are largely virtual eye-candy. It would be a big help to viewers to release actual release data; which locations actually have bikes to sell?
