Nice to see someone review a new bike without abusing it. I see some reviews taking zero mile engines and revving them excessively ...seemingly not realizing that you have 4th, 5th and 6th gear options. I'm a firm believer in keeping the revs in check for a proper break-in, and the dealers loaning out these bikes should demand it. Personally, I would not want to buy a bike that has been (in my opinion) abused straight out of the showroom for the sole purpose of making a performance oriented video. Brakes also have a break-in period too. This is way too often not taken into consideration for braking evaluations. Great Job!

Hi, I’ve got this bike since last August. I toured about 3500 miles straight away. Here are my comments. Probably more power than you’ll ever use, but addictive non the less. Other than all the RU-vid comments (that are good) I’ll add a few negatives that haven’t been mentioned. The heat from the right side of the motor is substantial, the fan turns on fairly quick at stop lights. With touring gear I don’t really trust the kickstand, it seems minimal. No heated grips, which are great in cold temperatures. Other than that this is a great bike and no bike is perfect, so overall I’m happy with this GSXs1000GT+

I got a kickstand pad off amazon for 7 bucks that fits under the seat to throw down when the bike is loaded. It works great with my 1000gt so far. I think it's called kickstand buddy

I have the Honda ST1300 and this year I bought the Suzuki gsxs 1000Gt to replace the Honda. I still like the Honda but it has 66000 miles on it(still runs strong) but wanted something more modern. Love the Suzuki it handles so well and about 200 lbs lighter than the Honda. The one thing that drives me nuts about the reviews on th Suzuki is that all the sport bikers keep saying the brakes are mushy. Well the bike can't stop super quick like the sport bikes because if you have a passenger it doesn't throw them up against you. Good vid I enjoyed.

Due to the poor quality of some bikes swing arms nowadays, I find myself drawn to them looking at their quality. My honda nc750 looked like it was box steel from a steel merchants. Thin and nasty with poor protection. The one on this bike (thanks for showing) looks very crafted. This bike twice the power of my own which is quite fast enough for uk roads for me. Always loved Suzy’s. Nice review as always

Thank you much appreciated…..I remember when the Honda ST1100 Pan Europeans had chocolate swing arms….rotted for fun…..completely out of character for Honda….ST1300 all good though

Great review thanks, can't wait to try one out myself. Would have loved your view on the slipper clutch and ride modes which I think help to push the bike further into sport guise when wanted

Your analogy regarding the two classes of 'Sport Tourer' and 'Tourer', is perfect. This bike is indeed of the same vein as Kawasaki's SX1000, Honda's VFR and, to me, the much missed Triumph ST1050 Sprint. I have no doubts whatsoever that this machine is more than capable of covering vast distances in great comfort and is thoroughly accomplished in its design brief. For me, however, it's a sports bike with a comfortable riding position and that's no bad thing. (I'd have one in a heart beat). For serious touring, however, and amongst those attributes you have highlighted, the rear wheel needs to have its power delivered via 'shaft and bevel'. I suspect that after negotiating the Stelvio Pass in torrential rain, I would not be too enamoured at having to check a cold, wet, greasy chain, as part of my pre-ride inspection, the following morning. In fact I'd feel quite smug knowing I didn't have to if the machine I was riding possessed s/drive.😅. A fair and balanced appraisal as always. 👍

I agree Mark….I recently had a mint ST1050 sprint with luggage and just 8k miles on it….sold it….another bum decision! 😂

Ouch! I do know what you mean though. I had one too and miss it a lot. It's replacement, the GT just didn't have that wow factor the ST had. It seemed rather staid and matronly in comparison. As always, looking forward to your next post. 👍

Hi there, and thanks for your review. This bike ticks most of the boxes as you say, and for me, the lowish seat height works really well (29" inside leg.) Like many bikes today, style is placed well before practicality. Thus, the front mudguard is far too short to stop any road debris from burying its way into the engine, and once again, no center stand is a real bummer on a touring machine.

The comparison with other bikes in this category shows this bike is well priced but falls short on your touring criteria. There is no centre stand (helps with lubing the chain down route), adjustable screen (opens up options to more riders of varying height), heated grips (climbing mountains passes can have a significant drop in temperature) and no top box (added storage capacity). Adding these features would (obviously) increase the 'out the door' price, placing it firmly in the range of more competitors. Your criteria for the sports aspect of this bike is well met, cannot fault the pedigree/lineage of the engine. I believe that, in essence, you can tour on anything (have met a group of 125s at the top of the Grimsel and loads of Vespas at the top of the Stelvio!)- luggage, comfort, styling, servicing and performance can be the main factors in affecting one's decision in purchasing a sports touring bike. And no, I still can't make my mind up which one I want next.......

Great review, I'd like one for nipping about but I wouldn't fancy taking this touring, no centre stand? heated grips? non adjustable screen, hand guards? Can't see the need for this power the way the roads are now either.
@thebingleywheeler
@thebingleywheeler Год назад
Thank you….you can get heated grips not sure about centre stand….bigger screen options are available and I’m sure you could get after market hand guards

I have been riding trips up to 1000km with my VFR800X, I'm always smiling when I see comments on how there is not an adjustable screen. I have one but never moved it a single bit for 40.000km (lowest setting). With earplugs it's great, and a nice feeling with the wind. Hand guards, I removed them as well, they feel useless. Heated grips are great but nothing beats heated gloves; my heated grips don't get through thick winter gloves anyway. Only thing that annoy me is the lack of center stand to do a quick chain lube on the road easily.

Very nice bike. I nearly bought one a few month back, sadly my Insurance company wanted over £5k to cover it in London. Shame.
@thebingleywheeler
@thebingleywheeler Год назад
What £5k to insure a GSXS 1000? Blimey it’d cost me about 300 quid (mind you I am an old timer 😂). That’s an eye watering sum though is it London at play for the most part?
@WildlifeMoto
@WildlifeMoto Год назад
@@thebingleywheeler From what I can see it’s not got much to do with age or experience, it’s mainly about chances of theft. Sadly London (and increasingly other big cities around the U.K.) are too risky for insurance companies.

@Wildlife Moto I’ve been aware of the predisposition of insurance companies to apply a levy in respect of vehicles homed in certain metropolitan areas but I’d scarcely have believed that it was so far off the scale….I guess that up here in the northern suburbs we have been blissfully insulated against the inflated costs of southern living

The bikes fantastic but at my age and skill levels i couldn't do it justice. Got to say I really like your colourful riding gear, i used to ride in all black with a black helmet until i got knocked off breaking my ankle and two ribs only to be told by the car driver " i just didn't see him " lame but true. I now have a white helmet and a very colourful jacket, fashion no longer interest me safety now comes first.

As far as aesthetics are concerned the Kawasaki 1000SX trounces the Suzuki in every department, one of the main reasons it's such a good seller IMO. Why Suzuki use those very budget tank graphics ( the same as on the budget SV 650) is really hard to understand . It would cost nothing to have a more premium badge and yet alone it would make quite a difference. To be honest design wise the GSXS has hardly moved on since the last of the big faired Bandits! I know it's "only looks" but looks sell.

Looks have always been and always will be a matter of personal opinion. Personally I think the Suzuki is better looking than the Ninja which is starting to look a bit dated…a view others have expressed also but it is always just an opinion 👍🏻
