In today's video I show you a couple of ways you can swap the front end of your SV650 to a front end from either a GSX-R 600/750 or GSX-R 1000. The 2 examples I have today are a 2006 SV650 with an S to N conversion, as well as a full GSX-R1000 front end. The other example I have is my personal 2008 Suzuki SV650SFA that has a GSX-R 600/750 front end conversion. The 2008 model is using OEM R1 calipers while the 2006 model is using the OEM GSX-R 1000 gold Tokico Calipers. This video is just a guide to help show 2 variations of the GSX-R conversion and hopefully it helps you in some way to set your SV650 front end up. If there was anything that I missed, please feel free to drop it in the comments below to help out the rest of the SV community! If you haven't subscribed to the channel yet. Please hit that SUBSCRIBE button and share this video with your friends. Thanks for watching!

idk if I’m late but I think if you have the sv1000 or sv1000s you don’t have to worry about the speed sensor. I believe the speed sensor sits above the speed sensor nut bolt that sits on your front sprocket. That makes it a little easier idk I’ll see Im trying to find a pair of 600/750 forks for my 05 sv1000s

That 08 looks like it's my old bike. Orange tank painted grey(travesty), same fork I did and I tucked both the speedo sensor and the ABS sensor under the front fender. Does the tail have some of it's paint rubbed off and 05 royal blue showing underneath?

What are the side fairings on your sv650 from what model? I think my sv650s is ugly with the kinda cut off fairings and want it to look more sportier
@PASSIONBUILT
@PASSIONBUILT 3 года назад
The fairings are all OEM. You can purchase them paint matched to your year from Oneida Suzuki. They’re about $400 per side.

Went a little more complicated with mine. I have an 05 SV650S with 06-07 GSX-R 600 forks and lower triple, however I swapped the stem in the lower out for the original SV650 stem. That allowed me to use an 04-05 GSX-R 600 top triple to keep the steering lock. For clip ons I went with TL1000S clip ons since they have a slight rise to them like the stock SV ones.
@Mad8vCycles

use an sv1000 stem for most weight reduction :P
@taylorliv699
@taylorliv699 3 года назад
@@Mad8vCycles Isn't the top of the 1K stem 28mm though instead of 25mm? On my original 04-05 GSX-R 600 swap, the lower triple was twisted. I replaced it with an 05 GSX-R 1K lower. It was thicker than the 600 one where it clamps the fork tubes, but it worked.
@Mad8vCycles
@Mad8vCycles 3 года назад
@@taylorliv699 all i remember is it's a direct swap w the 650 and SOME gsxr ones. so if it fits the 650 then it must be the 04/05 diameter

Any useful inputs about OEM 1000S forks?? Here in Eastern-EU everybody is bitching about the handling, however the majority of the SV rider just stays on the road and have no idea about proper cornering. I change fork oil /synthetic 10W/ every 2 years in the 1000S oem forks and the steering damper as well and im attending to trackdays too without any front end problems. Rear end suspension is much a bigger problem as its harder to remove, scrapped gsxr stuff is harder to fit and a new aftermarket /hyperpro, bitubo.../ absorber costs a lot.
@PASSIONBUILT
@PASSIONBUILT 3 года назад
The SV1000 suspension to my understanding is just as upgradable as the SV650. GSX-R front end conversions are over-rated and most people do it just to say they have a GSX-R front end. The majority of the front end swaps usually aren't even rebuilt to the riders spec. So if you were looking to upgrade your suspension and GSX-R front ends are limited in your area. Just rebuild your forks with proper oil, springs for your weight, and emulators if you desire. Then you should be good to go.

For an 07 SV650N what would be the best set of GSXR forks and triples to get. I saw in a vid from someone else a company in Europe that makes custom triples.
@PASSIONBUILT
@PASSIONBUILT 11 месяцев назад
They never made N style triples for the GSXR from factory so you would have to source an aftermarket set. There are companies that make them and from time to time. I come across a nice conversion set on parts bikes that I acquire. The typical GSXR fork swap for any year SV is usually off a 2005 GSXR. But you will still need to source other parts such as the wheel, brake system, fender, etc…

Any idea where that top triple clamp on the N came from? I have a 06-07 front end ready to go on my N but really want to keep my bar height as well as the factory steering lock.

There was a company that made them years ago that is no longer making them. You can find the old group buy on the SV forums somewhere.

As you can see from the video, the red SV has the tall handlebar setup rather than having clip-ons installed. You can tailor the GSXR fork conversion to you riding style 😃 it’s a pretty straight forward swap. I actually have a video that shows you all of the parts you will need for the conversion too. Thanks for subbing! However, no. The SV wheels are not compatible with the GSXR front end due to the axle sizes being completely different. The GSXR has a much larger axle thus requiring a GSXR specific wheel. Hope this helps. 🙂👍🏼

Thanks for watching all the way through. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately you can’t use the SV triple with the GSXR forks. The SV triple won’t fit GSXR forks since the GSXR forks are much larger in diameter. You’re going to have to find a complete GSXR front or custom triples to fit the GSXR forks. Hope this helps. 🙂👍🏼

I am an old dude, and I have a 99 SV650S with standard forks and there fine, even with the Dynojet kit, it has balls and the forks cope well, the SV is not a super sport so for street use why'd you change the front end.
@PASSIONBUILT
@PASSIONBUILT 2 года назад
There are multiple reasons why you can upgrade forks on the SV. - more adjustment points. - inverted forks are stronger and less likely to bend in the event of a drop. - inverted forks give the bike a much more aggressive look and just look better than standard forks. - more upgrade options. - better bolt-on brake options. - etc.

Can I fit a sv1000 engine in my 2007 sv650
@PASSIONBUILT

No. The SV1000 engine will not directly swap over to an SV650 frame and vice versa. If you want a 1000. Just sell your 650 and upgrade to a 1000. But a swap is not realistic or cost effective.
