Alternator/Water pump Belt Missing How to fit and adjust the alternator belt on a Suzuki Swift. Double overhead cam engine Tools required 8 mm Allen key and a 12 mm spanner or socket. A good strong pair of fingers
Just did the same job, superb video! For anyone with an AC unit aswell you need to remove that belt aswell so might replace it too whilst youre there. The 8mm Allen key was impossible for me to remove from the top. Turned the steering wheel to the right and removed the archlining and the bolt is really easy to get to, dont need a jack.
Thanks for the advice, very helpful. My belt has gone slack so I had a quick look this evening, the two 12mm bolts were obvious but the 8 mm allen key location certainly wasn't. All set to give it a go in the morning. Cheers.
Hahaha.. Hi mate Just had my belt ping off and I wasn't sure if the rad had blown aswell or what had happened, not knowing these cars. All hell broke loose, overheating and running like it was just about to end itself! 😄 I've worked in a garage but didn't have the energy to look properly... Quick watch of this to refresh a bit, still provides 5 mins of relief after 4 years! Nice job and thanks. easy isn't though hey.. 😄👌
Yea boi , after doing this myself today the only thing i seen missed was re-adjustying the tension after 5 minutes of run time & it is a little easier to get that 8MM allen with the right side wheel off other wise I must say many thanks mate!
Super stuff, thanks for this. My daughter just came home with the belt missing on her '06 model. I suspect bigger problems though as the alternator should spin freely by hand, is that right? Hers isn't, so... bugger.
aaanton11 I found out today that it's better to get the alternator off from underneath. I also couldn't for the life of me get the allen bolt off. Gonna try again in the weekend with some jacking equipment.
Was wondering if you know the thread size and length of the bolts for the slider adjustment? Was replacing my belt last night for the 3rd time and while tightening the bolt sheared off 😒
What year is that Swift as I think my daughters 2008 needs a bit more fiddling to get a new belt on. I think it needs something removed to thread belt round…
if you go on amazon through this link put your registration number in it will tell you which belt you need, amzn.to/341Sj5a Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
i just failed to change the alternator belt on my suzuki liana, same M13 engine and setup as swift, because AC belt was still intact and Alternator belt goes behind AC belt on main engine pully ! which is under right engine mount, although i did removed mount using jack under engine but it was too much for me. so gave up and took her to workshop.
Same with my 07 swift, I gave up and called the mobile mechanic once I saw I needed to remove my AC belt first to get to the alternator belt - and its in a parking lot and have to do it in the dark. However aaanton11 - great video and if I didn't have the AC belt this would have helped me easily. Thank you.
Currently in the proces of changing both drive belts. and to be honest, what a sh*t job to do on this car. Belt tensioner is 1,5 inches away from a massive metal bar and the nut rounded of on the first try. 2 hours of my day thrown away. Let's try again tommorow...😒
The 833 belt I tried was way too short. I reckon the alternator must have been changed and the wheel is a bigger diameter. The belt is about 10 to 15 mm too short with the alternator slackened right off.
@@aaanton11 Ah i see, i think i must change the belt since my water pump dont work really well. I hope the belt is the only problem because water pump is kinda expensive here. Anyway thank you for sharing.
